Which autoresponder are you using? If it's Aweber, I can walk you through the actual steps, as I have been using it for a long time.

All autoresponders work in a similar way.

First you have to create the email capture form in your autoresponder account.

Then you will be given a code to enter into your text editor that makes the form appear on your webpage.

If you don't have an autoresponder service, or don't want a paid one right now, then you might want to check out this training:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/setting-up-a-free-mailing-list-with-madmimi

But do check their terms and conditions about what you can and cannot do.

P.S. I don't think it is the best idea to send the ebook as an attachment in an email.
It is always better to send people to the download link so they can download the
product immediately on purchase. The alternative is to send the link to the download
page in your email.

Thanks for this info Jude :) And thanks for the question Hellerb!

Thanks for the help Jude! Right now I don't have an autorespond service at all, before this I was completely clueless on how to capture emails, as well as autorespond. And I agree that it would be best to simply have them click on a link on the download page, but my problem there is that when they click on the link to download the pdf file, it just opens up the file hosted by my site in a new window in the browser. I couldn't figure out how to have them click the download button and the file automatically save to their computer, so the way it's set up right now is that they would have to click the download button to open the book into a new window, and then manually save as to their computer. Seems like a lot of work just to get it saved, and if they accidentally close the window, they will lose access to the book. That's why I want to email them a copy as well.

Ben, so I assume you have uploaded your PDF ebook to your media files in WordPress?

If so, your customers will find the Download Icon in the top right corner of the PDF reader to then download it to their computer and save it there for later reading. It is a bit hard to see. As they move their mouse cursor over the icons, the "download" message will appear on the appropriate icon.

I use the Download Manager plugin because I like to keep track of my download statistics, plus they can save the PDF file on their computer without opening it.

There are advantages and disadvantages both ways.

If you need further help, please post again. ~Jude

Jude - Yes, I currently have it uploaded to my media files and when customers purchase the ebook it opens in a new window and I have given them instructions of how to download it. It just seems like it would be so much simpler if they could click on the download button and it would automatically save to their computer (like so many downloads I have clicked on in my life), or to just automatically email them the link. I've already had one person email me saying they accidentally clicked out of the download screen and then lost access to the ebook all together. That is the kind of problem I want to avoid. Thanks for all your help, I truly appreciate it!

Ben, see my private message.

Maybe it would be possible to set it up such that they must enter their email in order to enable the download button on your site? Different approach, but would get you the email…...

I would be fine with doing that, but I'm looking to learn specifically how to get a text box for them to enter their email in, and then how to send an auto respond email with download available. I have no idea how to get the email address

Nothing shows up in the help search box? Suggest you contact Kyle with this through Private Messaging……He will get back and if anyone knows how to do this he will. I would really like to have the answer myself…I've been wanting to do something similar……..

Hi, really interesting and helpful tutorial. Since I've decided to get back to my Twitter account, I've been looking for some tips that will help, and I have found some here. Thanks.

Awesome article! I am definitely going to put this to good use, thank you

Very good article! Informative! You have inspired me to use Twitter and connect it to my website! Thanks!

Hi everyone, can you answer this question on my twitter feed?
https://twitter.com/LacyNicoleOrg/status/482279991258783745

I absolutely LOVE TWITTER!!!!!! I have recruited more people from Twitter than I have from any other social media platform that I am on (I am in MLM). But I am learning more about Pinterest...I recently posted my blog on Pinterest and got tons of traffic in one day! So that is my next focus.... There are several platforms that will help you schedule your tweets... dynamictweets.com, buffterapp.com ..just to name a couple!

Hey there! Can you please show me how to connect with Twitter and other social media on my website? I already have to icons installed, but I am not sure how to active them. Thanks!

I have just started using Twitter about two months ago. I get charged with following people. 1000 follows in a week seems like they will get you for that so I would expect for you to get a warning soon. Let me know if you know something different would like to know.

I've never heard of twitter charging for following people. I think you have a follow limit depending on how many people are following you, but who knows for sure.

That is what I meant a follow limit. People will mark you as spam and if you get enough of them they will suspend your account. Just to let you know. I would really like to know how it works out for you.

Twitter has about a 1:1 ratio of people that you can follow and they will stop you from following any more people.. so if you add about ~ 300 people per day to your network, and give them ~ 2 day to follow back you should be fine. Also, once a week it is useful to unfollow people who are not following you back.. you can use tweepi.com. So that you can add more people as well. When you reach 2000 people on Twitter.. the rules change a little... Good luck! I have never had my account suspended on Twitter!

Hey Ben, cheers for the info, the more of this type....who knows I may even turn 'social"...unlikely though. ;)

No problem! It certainly can't hurt to at least try out a social network! I've also heard that it provides value to your site getting ranked on google because there are more outside links to your articles

Absolutely no doubt about it Ben, I have no problem grasping the theory that social networking increases your sites "xyz', though, I can also understand the theory on how to sell a vacuume cleaner & still b crap at it.......Learning to come Ben....getting dragged kicking & screaming....

Mate, for what it's worth, I'm into art, so Pinterest I would probably find the easiest to give into.....Cheers mate

I realized today that I have asked a ton of questions here, and gotten a lot of valuable information from all the awesome members here, but I haven't really contributed much. Al

You are right! As a newbie it is hard not to be overwhelmed by WA since it is wast. I have tried to stay disciplined and stick to the training and it works. I would also suggest to have a 3rd window open with the website you are working on when you reach that point in training. :) Camilla

I've been here 5 months and still go back thru' sections of training as a refresher. And it's not often I don't have an "aha"moment, when I do!

Really good advice. I have probably gone through the Level 1 training about 3 times now because there is always something new to learn. Great of you to take the time to share this. All the best to you.

I'm sure it will.

Does anybody know if it is possible to change the default font color in the theme "sporty" or any other theme for that matter? From the research I've done it looks like it would

How do you locate the code in the CSS, to tweak?

I would only do this if you have a backup as coding errors can be irrecoverable. It's in Appearance > Editor and then click on style.css in the right-hand column. However, this is entirely at your own risk. Rich.

If you want a global change throughout your site, and your theme doesn't give you a menu driven option, then you'll need to tweak the CSS. If you just want to colour and style pieces of text, then I'd recommend UtMCE http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ultimate-tinymce/ There's also training on it here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/ultimate-tinymce-plugin-the-ultimate-training :) Rich.

Well my themes default color is gray, and I end up changing everything to black since the gray is somewhat difficult to read. The titles of my post are always in gray because I don't have the option to change that color. So I would ultimately like to change the code to black being the default color. Is there one simple line of code I would be able to tweak in the CSS? Thanks Rich.

It's likely to be:
body {
color: #00000;
}
that you'll need to change. However, this is entirely at your own risk! :) Rich.

As Rich explained below.

An alternative is to use your Blogroll as your home page, rather than a static page.

You add your image to your main post, but when you use the "read more" tag, (insert it from the editor menu button), it will leave the image with your text snippet on your blog roll, and retain the same image when a visitor clicks on the 'read more' link.

I do have my blogroll as my home page. The "read more" tag worked for displaying only a preview of the post, but I can't figure out how to get it to show an image. When I set a featured image, it doesn't do anything. I also searched all through the appearance options, and there was nothing I could change to make it look like this. Any more thoughts? Thanks for the help so far!

Not sure without taking a look. If you trust me, send me your login in a private message and I will take a look for you if the issue is still not resolved. ~ Jude

I am thinking that would be a part of the Theme. Some themes do give you options on the appearance tab, did you check there?

Settings > Reading and "display summaries". You will probably need to add the image as a "Featured Imaged", click on Screen Options (top far right of the screen) when editing a Post and tick "Featured Image". It will add an area at the bottom right of a Post where you can add the image to be featured. :) Rich.
