Month 1 complete !!

When I started out 4 weeks ago, I saw some folks had a week or month or two month blog. I was wondering what I would be writing, if at all.
Well it’s that time now. OH boy.
I was struck down for the first 2 weeks and started up 2.5 weeks ago.
Lesson 1: Even if one classifies yourself as reasonably capable internet and computer wise, building a website is like changing jobs from an exhaust dealer to that of becoming a gynaecologist. Seriously! . I never knew the volumes of information that would descend upon me making a monsoon season seem like brushing teeth.
Lesson 2: One's thinking around what you do, post, create should always hold a main awareness of what the search squirrels, oh no crawlers from google, yahoo and bing are up to and what they're programmed to pick up in one's creation. I must say on this note I feel like the NSA , CIA and FBI are watching my site to say ,...sorry disallowed...uhhh, that said I realise it's part of getting ranked . How else to rank quality with quick rich schemes that don't add value to browsers. I'm now rethinking some new pages and content and ways to get traffic etc.
Lesson 3: Don't run ahead of the training. Kyle's training modules are pretty methodical, so follow them to a T. I didn't quite do this, so although I'm only at section 1 lesson 4, I will be doing that from here-on out.
Lesson 4: Be patient. It’s going to take a much longer than I thought to be where I wanted to be. That’s why only 2% of people make it. Old story of work ethic i.e.. personal discipline and daily work habits of completing work. Which is doing effective work which doesn't include browsing other sites or the like, although its necessary. It means doing the study work and adding "stuff" to your website in whatever form or shape. Its going to take X amount of hours to get to being an effective website, so each hour completed is a distance closer to that goal.
Lesson 5:Learning the tech stuff and how word-press operates and manoeuvres and operates within, is paramount. Once one has those skills mastered or have them well underhand, it will become sailing with enjoyment at speed. When I think of my first month it makes me think of movie I saw years ago.
SAHARA..That part where Matthew McConaughey and his buddy have built a makeshift windsurfer from the scrap of a downed plane in the dessert. They are fleeing a hoard of bandits and manage to get this "desert sail on wheels thing" going,...... sails filled with wind and moving at rapid speed they are outpacing the mob after them on horseback. After a while the one guy says. "Where we going"? Matthew answers.." I don't know but we're making good time."
Well I was busy this part month with much without it having direct impact of where I was going with my website and marketing. My goal now is completing all the 5 sections of training, Original content without a thought of copy paste, rewriting anything I pick up in my own creative way, good presentation of my website in an easy navigational theme. Effective hours spent daily must add something to the website.
Adding one "something" to my site a day, means at least 20 to 25 new additions a month. Everything added with the right keywords, content etc, is read/seen/analysed by the search squirrels so in my understanding is adding to the bulk valued content, makes for better ranking and reading.
Lesson 6:My understanding of how I see my lessons now will more than likely change as I learn more, it has to.
Lesson 7:When receiving opinions from others on your website make sure to seek out a group of people who in your view really know their stuff. Check out or find say 10 quality web and traffic builders. Ask those people to give feedback in a way that allows them to be honest WITHOUT them feeling uncomfortable you might be taking their feedback personally.

Write them a brief mail allowing them to be completely frank with you. Remember they were once where you are now and realise the egg on your website or blatant flaws won’t work. They won’t want to get bogged down with a thesis on how you should change things but a line or 5 from 10 people will take you a long way. But how you ask will allow them to feel comfortable enough to be completely frank and honest. Life doesn't allow for this so you need to create such an opportunity.
What is quality feedback? It’s the kind that someone would give unencumbered of any others judgement, opinions, discussion or the like. Pure unemotional truth from someone.
Does their opinion mean it’s accurate, absolutely for them, but it doesn't necessarily mean their views are fully accurate to enable you to change your site for the better. You will discern this more accurately with a number of opinions better, so the reason for asking 10 of those better "qualified" .
So if you say ask 10 people you have qualified for this type of feedback, you can be pretty sure they are giving much better or effective feedback than pussyfooting around the issue not wanting to be honest, in case its seen as criticism. That said you need to qualify and present to them you’re in need of this and that you value their input and that they pleeeeese be as frank as they can, so you can save time and effort following a path that might be leading you nowhere or that your perception of doing this effectively, can be corrected if necessary.
I did a course once and we were taught to respond to any feedback as follows.
"Thanks for loving me enough to tell me the truth". soooo show me the love baby !!!
Truth isn't the fact of what a fact is in its complete form, it’s merely another's truth, meaning their perception of something as they see it. Perception changes as we grow, we become more aware, gain more experience and exposure, or not often. It’s an everlasting process of growth if we allow it to be. Mostly people become closed to the experience of growth as feedback is perceived as criticism which echoes in our minds as “not worthy” not “good enough” not “valued” etc , which there are many of called our FLOP'S. Fundamental Life Operating Principles. People tend to become closed to this process because of an innate need to be right about so much, to protect ourselves from the lashes of those around us and so our invisible fence we build goes up, to be able to live in this world and protect ourselves, closing off as a result many opportunities of becoming more aware.
However if we embrace the belief that we are a possibility and that all new information adds to that possibility, we will arrive at a place of growth that doesn't end or become stagnant as we age and much conflict we come to face daily will evaporate as we will realise there is no need to be right, only to understand, only to become an observer of what’s at play in a given moment and that opinions dont define us, it gives us information which is called feedback. Probably one of the most undervalued benefits of life because we have been conditioned through our experience to perceive it as a negative and hence we create habits of minimising the agony resulting in our ears deafening, our minds closing and our skins growing thicker.
We choose to grow or form a hard line opinion on something or about someone or about ourself. As soon as an opinion is formed, any new doors op perceptual change most likely close. Getting feedback and quality feedback at that, will make you see things you never knew existed. We rarely look at ourselves the way others do.
I'm hoping to accomplish much more in the weeks to come, but at least I have changed one thing since starting up here. I was unconsciously incompetent in the beginning not understanding where I was clearly and have progressed to realising the level of my incompetence and where I'm going in the next month or two. With that in mind, I can move forward more effectively, hopefully.
I wish you all the best on your respective journeys.
Regards and blessings
Eugene

I like the way you think,Eugene! Great article and great advice, especially for me as a newbie who also has run into some of the same issues that you seem to have run into! I tend to get too far ahead of myself and skip the lessons thinking I 'know' what I'm doing. Lol.
I will take your advice to heart! Thanks for sharing!
Thx Dorie. Looks like we are both in the same newbie boat. Thx for the words of understanding. I love your niche too. AS mentioned to another member I plan in future to build a niche around personal transformation and higher development. Something I see we share when I read your site. The best of success to you. Regards
Love your lesson 3 and 4 especially. This is where a lot of newbies falter. The photo of the little girl is great. Just keep moving forward and you'll look back one day and see all your progress. ~Debbi
Thx Debbi. Its good to hear from a number of oldies here like yourself. Old as in been around WA. I glean much from you guys as you've earned a few cigars and the right coffee mugs too. I would love to hear more of your experience so far. Regards
Eugene, congrats on your first month. great post and accomplishments.
Your journey will only get better from here on.
Thx for your comments and support Ken. That means a lot to hear that. Its like knowing there is a goal post somewhere but not quite seeing it for a newbie. Regards
You are very welcome Eugene. Yes the goal post!
Remember, Success is the Journey not the Destination.
Yip that's true for sure. Probably mostly why I decided on IM . I'm a little impatient because of urgency to make money independently here. But its just time and focused effort that makes the recipe work. Best wishes to you.
Great post! I'm a writer so the content part is not hard. The technical stuff, on the other hand, is quite different. I kept holding myself back because, for years, I had told myself I just couldn't do it. I've proved myself wrong and now I'll try just about anything.
Thx for commenting Carla. I love your persistence which must have got you to reinventing that belief-system. What do they say. The harder I work the luckier I get. Best to you
Hi Eugene, great post. I agree with what you are saying. I am a very technical and mechanically inclined person when it comes to hardware, software, automotive...among other things. But working in a Website is so different and the training as you say step by step is very helpful, doing something out of place can create other problems down the road.
Thanks for sharing.
Kim :))
Thx KIm for reading . Yes its interesting how we can believe we are armed with all the right goodies and then to find the language within another experience is different. You've been around for some time and ranked well. Id love to hear more of your experience so far. Regards
Eugene
Hi Eugene,
I think the plugins are one of the biggies. They recommend not to use too many. Some plugins are not compatible with certain themes, and some have not been test on WordPress. These are important to watch out for, if your site starts acting wonky it may be a plugin causing the problem.
That is my tip for the day.
Kim :))
oh wow..Have you got a list maybe of the must have plugins. I'm working in 20 14 theme. Thx for this info.
There are a lot of plugins, you can just start a discussion on what you are looking for and members will give some feed back of what they use to do what you are looking for.
For a contact form I use Fast Secure Contact Form (has captcha)
And for Share buttons (colorful ones and options to choose the ones you want) I use Hupso Share Buttons.
Then I use the WP Review plugin for writing my reviews, it gives you a star rating to select your rating of the product you are reviewing.
Have a great day.
Kim

LOL! Great post and I really enjoy your sense of humor which of course helps ease the survival, lol! You have made great progress especially in the most important way, and that is in having a clearer perspective! I also really like your images! :) Christa :)
Hi Christa Thx for your comments. I'm glad you enjoy my humour. Humour is pretty much like perfume. Its fragrance differs, depending on the who's skin its applied. Progress I've made? thx but I'm feeling way behind. Had to redo my site as I chose different theme last week and domain name, and in the process lots had to be redone. At least I feel better in what I have now. I peeked at your site. I love your clear way of presentation and the links to key words taking one to explanatory pages. Its an easy read and clear. I'm sure you're getting signups from this. How is it going. Regards
Though I have had interest and even one referral, no premium sign ups yet, but the site is yet in it's infancy. I just had to do a theme change a few weeks ago as well and I totally understand the time it takes having to redo things; for me I had things I had to learn to accomplish that redo as well. I really appreciate your thoughts on my site. I recently received criticism on it, the person thought I should change themes to one where it was all content and no header or at least a small header, and blue links instead of the theme green mine has. Yet just after that I received a visitor who spoke of how much she enjoyed the site. I have continued looking for another picture to possibly use in the header, but I believe if there is interest in the headlines they will read the story. That is what has brought success to countless newspapers and magazines, lol.
I want to comment more but I'm right now not clued up enough to do so. I realise opinion easily effects other's actions, hence me writing the content within this blog. I don't at this stage want to give opinion that doesn't come with IM experience. My first gut of looking at your site came up first for me. I think after 2 more months my opinion will be more valuable.
Headlines, you may be right yes. I just dont know enough about the analytics regarding where internet readers look first, or what subliminal images or content presentation presents best to their subconscious receptors to create interest.
Maybe the worlds top 20 or 50 sites have those clues for us to view as their budgets can afford those type of studies. Boy information is everything..
