Hi. Would appreciate some insight please...
Q.1 - One of my posts (best waterproof cycling jackets) is showing number 8 on Jaaxy site rank for this keyword phrase. Great.
Part of the problem may be timing? I'm not sure how often Jaaxy updates but I know one reason the results may be different is the rank dropped since Jaaxy "took a look". Also, did you search incognito? that can make a difference as well.
For question 2 - this is different because Jaaxy and the WA keyword tool will both omit duplicate results. When I look in WA tool, I click on competition and if I scroll down to the bottom of that window it shows that duplicates were omitted and there's a link I can click if I want to see those results with the duplicates.
I believe duplicates would be things such as - same article from same website or maybe a social media share.
Hope that was a bit more helpful. I am still learning about how to read those results. For a specific answer I would recommend asking the expert and creator lol. In other words PM Kyle or Carson. :)
Thanks Angela I might just do that. Your answer was helpful but still I would expect the duplicate pages to be included automatically - after all what we are after here is knowing how this affects our potential customers. If I am knocked onto page 4 by duplicate pages then I need to know because potential cuscustomers don't care - they just see what they see...
Thanks, but I'm not sure that answers my questions. Jaaxy is telling me I am doing spectacularly well with this post, but the real world says otherwise. Jaaxy also tells me there is little competition for this phrase, but the real world tells me otherwise. Why?
Jaaxy says 8 because that is the search engine page number it shows up on and the qsr 28 is the number of search pages that is competing with that phrase. Google takes all 4 words and gives you all of the results for each word and total phrase count. Jaaxy breaks it down to that particular phrase you have put into it.
Jaaxy reflects overall Search Engine data so as well as Google it also includes Bing and Yahoo

Why is jaaxy not reflecting google?
Hi. Would appreciate some insight please...

Q1. The SiteRank feature is based on an anonymous search (so if you have search history on your computer, that will impact the Google Search resutls) and it is located in the US, so this will give you an idea of where you are ranked in the US.
Q2. Google doesn't give you accurate QSR data, that is why this feature within Jaaxy is so powerful. You actually have to manually click to the last page if you want to get the accurate QSR. There is training on this here:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-find-your-true-competition-in-google-understanding-qsr
Hope this helps you out here Peter.

Is a website's likely future traffic simply a matter of adding up the estimated traffic for each keyword-based blog post (according to Jaaxy for example) or is it more complex t
Don't worry about TRAFFIC. Worry about the Monthly Searches and the QSR. The more helpful content you create, the higher your rank. MOnthly Searches are just that...people are actually searching for whatever the word/phrase is...very simple. Traffic is people actually making purchases.
Thanks for this but I thought that traffic was the number of those monthly searches that actually chose to click onto your site. Those making a purchase would then be a fraction of traffic? No?
Well, we are agreeing on that but you were asking about something else...you're killing me! Just look at Monthly Searches and QSR. You'll be okay! I still laugh at this image and you do need a Selfie Stick...lol!
Just keep adding content what ever happens
All software can only give you estimates you will only know your real traffic stats by getting website out there even the Google keyword tool gets it wrong quite often
Barry
Thanks Bazboy. I have been and will keep adding content - just wondering about the mechanics of traffic - whether to get an estimate of this you just accumulate numbers with each post or does it mushroom beyond simple Jaaxy stats. Maybe nobody knows, but was just curious.
I get what you are saying. The keywords are a guide of the best possible potential. But rankings don't come over night, your site needs to gain credibility with google by constantly producing great quality content that captivates your audience.

Is traffic just a numbers game or is google more subtle?

There is a way to minimize your images which will help. I have forgotten how to do that and I am on my phone away from home.
How important is googles page speed insights?

Hi. I was idly reading around the subject of SEO whilst in work (as you do) and one of the subjects that came up regularly was that of building links. I seem to remember Kyle
Be careful, listening to the so called experts on line, they only usually tell halve truths
If i were to explain bank links to you, I would need about 20 pages of content to fully explain what this subject is all about
Before you go building back links be careful as back linking is very complex and not all back-links are created equal
Some back-links will actually do you harm
Before you get into back linking you need to know about the following subjects
1. The different types of back links and there SEO power
2. Back-link profiling
3. Correct anchor text ratio
4. Latest Google algorithm update
5. Page rank
6. Back-link indexing
7. Private blog networks
See what I mean, I would build your site first Google wants quality content and to be honest there is not much out there
Website and quality content first - back linking later
Barry
Just remember this content is King and the other stuff will fall into place as long as you put out great content all the best
Yeh, I shared your confusion on this one for a while! I've read up quite a bit about this topic and I think the best resource I've found on it is here:
http://nomorebsreviews.com/free-resources/get-search-engine-rankings-without-linkbuilding/
It's quite an eye opener!
I'm by no means an expert yet in this industry, but the advice that I've been given (and that I trust) is to create great content, do the basic on page SEO and let the links and everything else take care of itself.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for that. It was the answer I was hoping for as I am not a huge techie. I'll read that link back at my desk instead of doing real work...

I've heard a lot about linking to other authority sites within your niche - I understand this can be done by linking within your posts right? How else can this be done? Via comm
Making the right and appropriate comments and links come with practice experience - its a genuine concern but you will get there
Dylania, you received some excellent advice and so did I. Based on what I read, I doubt anything I said would have been of value. Good luck, and I'll be following their advice as I'm much of a newbie too (less than 3 months.)
When you go to post a comment most sites have a form that includes your name, email address and website. You place your website there not in your comment. Leave a good thoughtful comment and the owner may approve it.
If you are going to leave a link on another site then also leave some useful info. If someone leaves a link on my site without any info I will just delete the link since it looks like spam otherwise.
Thanks GFHaze - but what I meant was what is the benefit in leaving a comment on a similar site i there is no way of knowing that you have your own site? How does it link back and get you some credit in Google land? ;0)
When you are leaving a comment on a wordpress site, it has an optional field for your website. Even though your link doesn't show in your post, the search engines still see it as a link.
I have found that by working within your niche it is quite easy to find other folks ding the same.
I you go to another site competitor or not and read some of their stuff that is done well, go ahead and leave a REAL comment about what they have written, or how well written it is.
But you are correct you do not want to leave "Hi here is my link" anymore than you would appreciate that being done to you.
Simple respect goes a long way.
I do hope this helps, any other questions feel free to drop me a note.
My best,
Gary
