When repinning a Pinterest pin I am wondering whether it is a copyright breach to add my Pinterest board,s URL to the image description (and adding pinned by the URL) ?
The whole point of Pinterest is to refer people back to the original posting site so I don't think we can change the URL on someone else's post. I don't Pinterest will allow you to do that.
What ever is on Pinterest is there for repining and when you repin on your board you can write or add what you want underneath it in my opinion
No I shouldn't think so David, there's a Pinterest widget that you can add to your website.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/pinterest-widgets/
Whoever wants to have a look at your pin image in actual size will have to log in (i.e. Pinterest members only access)...
Pinterest copyright breach or poor manners to add a url?

It can be added by joining and logging into Pinterest which vets you in agreement to use their images

I would like to use a Youtube image on a website? is it covered by copyright? If I put a youtube video how do I protect its copyright?
If YouTube gives you a downloadable link to use then it's ok. Protected videos that cannot be used or copied will usually have indicators on them to prevent their use by others. YouTube is pretty much a public arena.
What do you mean with "downloadable link"?
If you are talking about the embed code, then what you are writing is not correct.
Being able to embed a youtube video does not allow you to use it as if it was your own.
All you are allowed to do then is to embed it on your own website. But you can't just take screenshots from it, or download and then upload it on your own channel.
Youtube would delete the video quickly and might close your channel.
There is a link you get on your own channel and it also appears when right clicking on the video itself. If it is not available to put on your own site YouTube will block you from using it. Checks and balances are built into the system as they are owned by Google. I have never had a problem and have used YouTube for many years. When I wrote for Hub pages it was customary to use public YouTube videos. Of course I would never claim to be an expert on the entire system.
I think we are having a communication problem. Sorry, I am not a native English speaker. Maybe what I meant to say is not as clear as I thought.
The original question was, if we can use images (screenshots) from Youtube videos and put on our site.
I said, that I wouldn't do that, as Youtube videos are copyright protected.
If you do this without attribution or without contacting the video owner, you could get into trouble as you don't have the licence to use those images.
Using the whole video on your site (e.g. with an embed code) is something completely different, because your visitors can always find out where this video is coming from, because it is linked back to Youtube.
So, using just screenshots: not ok.
Using the whole video with an embed code: no problem.
Yes we were speaking of two different things. I use pixaby.com for images of all types as they are free for the most part. Thanks for clarifying.
Youtube videos are automatically copyrighted.
Some of them can be used under creative commons, though.
Depends on what the owner chose when he uploaded the video.
So I wouldn't take images from a video if you are not the creator of that video.
You could write the video owner and ask for permission, if you really want to use images from it.
Maybe he will ask you for attribution and a link to the video on your website.
Some might not even care when you use their work, others might sue.
Youtube itself protects your videos as long as the copies are on youtube as well.
For example when someone downloads and reuses your video, youtube will take it down and warn/ban the copycat.
If they don't do it automatically, you can contact youtube to do it.
If this happens outside of youtube and you really want to do something about it, it is best to get a lawer.
Just not always worth the money, in my opinion.
Typically it is protected, but I would suggest posting a Copyright notice (just the word Copyright will do it) to deter anyone from downloading and copying your video. But, if they do, you can file a complaint with YouTube and they will force the user to remove it OR YouTube will strip it from their account and lock them out. I have done this.
You can go another step and put a copyright watermark in your video. Or use your logo to brand it. I do this with my intros.
Here is some additional info:

It's definitely worth the read.

I have read that WA management does not like members promoting products through WA. Should I set up my store outside WA?
We are not allowed to promote stuff here in WA to fellow members however if it is on your website then that is fine
Hey David J6, what's the difference between promoting products, either your own, or on commission, through X number of websites, and selling en mass with a store? You might get custom from on high too!
Yes, you can promote anything you like here! Just make sure it is on your site and not here within WA!
Good luck!
Sheila
Feel free to promote anything you like on your sites David. You just can't promote "INSIDE" WA. For example your profile, your Blog (the blog link above your profile) or in any classroom. WA is a "no solicitation" zone. But you can post your sites under "my sites" which you'll find on the right hand side of your profile.
David,
You can have a website with a store. You just can't promote your website on other people's profiles, blogs etc., Not on your blogs etc..
You can and should place your website link on your profile below your pictures - There is a place for your websites labeled websites or mange your sites. That is the only place on WA for your website link except in Training modules.
I hope that this helps David, Let me know.

Is wordpress the best option for starting and building an Amazon Store? Would WA affiliates help please
Hello I just build an aStore from Amazon in my website... and it's over wordpress. Amazon gives you the code you need, for example the one between corchets [like this] and the one using <iframe>... you may want to take a look to see if this is what you are looking for:
http://boysandgirlsclothes.com/best-seller-store
it was inserted in a page using <iframe>
I tend to agree withgeraldkew. But if you are going to use dropship, make sure they area true ds supplier, and not just a wholesaler. Otherwise, your margins will be too low and will be comparable to amazon commissions.
I use WooCommerce for a store and it's free.
Dave, just a thought! if you are building a store for Amazon then it wouldn't be an authority site thus you have to drive traffic there, right!
If so wouldn't you be better off doing drop ship (markup from 30% to 100%) instead of getting pennies from Amazon?
Cheers!
Hi Gerald, That's what my website is based on. Most of my products are dropship with a mix of a Amazon Affiliate. More dropship products though.
Hello,
There are specific themes for amazon store and to be honest: These are really worth the price you pay, for example: http://azontheme.net/
(I bought this one, so if you want to check it, you can try it on a test site)
Another good one is: http://azonprofitstore.com/
But "everything" is already included in those themes, so you do not have to install all those plugins and configure it from scratch..
It is worth checking!
Grtz
When I first came here I had a very hard time making WordPress functional enough for my Amazon stores. We used another platform. Kyle was the one who came closest to getting me where I wanted to go but it was so much work I just scrapped it. Finally we found a tool to help us do our level of functionality in WordPress and we have not looked back since. But none of our new Amazon stores will be in WordPress. But if wordPress is all that you know then you probably are not aware of its limitations so you will be fine.
Hi
You neglected to say what the tool was that helped you with the functionality of WP and Amazon?? Please expand.
Hi David, WordPress would work really well. This is one of my pages with Amazon products. You play around with it enough you can get really good at it.

I have a small book store set up on Amazon. Amazon did everything and I can add books as I am ready to sell them. It works very well for me! It is very simple and actually a lot of fun, too!
I have 2 separate accounts on Amazon ~ One for selling and one is affiliate marketing. Amazon does not really influence what I do or not do, since my current website is for WA affiliate marketing :-)
If you are an Amazon associate you just login to Amazon and select the category or products you want in the store. Amazon then generates a link for your store. Very simple process.
Hi Doug
Thanks . Do you think The Amazon site is the best to do this with. I understand it is the easiest.
Regards David
I would think that any website builder would be o.k. and then contact Amazon to open the Amazon store. I have seen their app for that as an alternative.
