Operation: Vegas 2020

I have a big goal, you guys. I want to qualify for 2020 Vegas. And I want to take you along my journey.

This all started when I watched Littlemama's training videos about her own road to Vegas. Thank you, Littlemama because that training gave me 100% clarity.

Here's her post on the training if you're interested:

Bumbling & Fumbling

Before I saw Littlemama's training, I was sort of bumbling and fumbling my way around with my website. I had some posts there, but I wasn't totally clear what my goal was with my site. I would look up decent keywords and do a post around that, but I didn't have a clear vision.

While watching her training, she said something that really hit me. She said she asked around to other top affiliates here and asked how many posts (mostly review posts) it would take before she would likely qualify for Vegas. The answer? 400.

I wasn't even doing review posts! I didn't even know how to put one together that was decent. But you know what? I knew that I had to try. I appreciate Grace giving this number because now I have focus on exactly what I need to do.

400 posts is a little less than 30 per month until next December. If that's what it takes, that's what I'm going to do. It'll happen. One word at a time.

My Progress So Far

I have 10 posts written so far this month. I'm a little behind technically because I don't want to write on the weekends. So, most days I'll need to write 2 posts per day. I did it yesterday, and I have to say, it's quite challenging. My brain was fried by the end! But you gotta do what you gotta do!

I have almost no traffic. I have some, but it's mostly just from Wealthy Affiliate people. (Hey, thanks WA! ;) ) I get 1 organic hit once in a while. All of my posts are indexed though, so that's good news!

I also had a boosted ad on Facebook and I currently have an ad on Pinterest for my free guide. But, those aren't doing that well. It was just a test, but I won't likely continue with those paid ads. I'd rather focus on free, organic traffic.

I don't have an autoresponder yet because I don't have any traffic! As soon as it makes sense, I'll need to get that going. It's funny, for some reason I have a resistence around email marketing. I don't know why since that's what I used to do for my "real" job. I was an Email Marketing Manager. It's definitely an irrational fear and I'll get over it!

Writing Reviews is...Not Too Bad!

Another thing I had a huge resistence around was writing reviews. But you know what? I actually like it. After I did a couple, it was really easy. I can get one done in just an hour or hour and a half.

I think these sales videos are hilarious, so I'm enjoying writing about them! I know this will likely change down the road when I start pissing people off. But for now, I'm having fun with it.

I also enjoy helping to point people in a better direction. I feel like I'm part of an army that's standing firm against these terrible products. It's like I'm part of a team that's putting up a united front to help block people from throwing their money at them. It feels nice to be on the good guys' side.

My Passion

One of my biggest passions is helping people find a better way to make money. I used to sit in a boring, gray cubicle and I absolutely hated it. My soul would die a little each day that I walked into that office.

I really feel like affiliate marketing is SUCH an incredible opportunity for those seeking different kind of work. I really want to convey this to people and point them to Wealthy Affiliate, which has taught me everything (and continues to do so).

(And if there's another product that's actually good, I'll make sure to tell them that too. My philosophy is to be honest and truthful and to give people the best options. I'll always recommend WA, but it's OK if they choose something else that works better for them.)

Now I have this opportunity to be an affiliate marketer (and a Super Affiliate, eventually!) and I get to work at my kitchen table while I look out the window at the birds and the trees. When the weather's really nice, I sit on my deck with my feet up. This is SO MUCH BETTER than sitting in a dumb cubicle. I want others to experience this, too. That's why I decided to go down the Super Affiliate path in the first place.

Thanks for Reading!

I've got to put my head down and get to work. I've got another 2 posts to work on for today.

I'll keep you posted on my progress. (This helps me too because it keeps me accountable.)

Thanks for reading!

I've started to realize that it's actually not necessarily the number of posts you have, but the kind of posts on your site that will get you where you want to be. What I mean by that are review posts, which is something I've been lacking on my first website. My first website has a little over 250 posts, but they aren't really earning me anything aside from the occasional AdSense click and getting a couple of affiliate link clicks once in a blue moon and now I believe I've figured out why.

I LOVE talking about my experiences with a specific product on my site, the problem is, I haven't been putting CTAs (Call to Action) on a lot of them and I need to change that if I really want to start earning revenue. For one thing, I can link to one of the few reviews I have when I'm talking about a recent experience with a particular product and then I need to add more review to my site. I've only got 6 reviews on there, but I do have more products that I can definitely review, but I've been letting fear stop me because I think they won't be good enough. If I don't try though, then they certainly won't be good enough because there's nothing there.

Right now though, I've gotten rejuvenated to work on my second website where I can promote Wealthy Affiliate and I have gotten excellent ideas for a new article series. I've already produced 2 posts over 2,000 words this week and getting ready for a 3rd and then I'll add images and do some touch ups before I fully publish them. Plus I'm getting ready to update my Wealthy Affiliate review since there are now new features at WA that weren't there when I made my original review.

If we keep moving forward and keep our eyes on our goals, we will definitely reach them through our hard work.

I know what you mean about letting fear stop you. That's actually how I felt too about reviews, but then I discovered I really liked writing them.

So, just give it a try! Plus, once you do a couple and have a system, they become really easy to do.

It sounds like you're back on the right track with things though. I can't wait to see how you do! Keep me posted. :)

It's great news - you sound so determined to become a Super Affiliate, so I believe you will do it:)

What about your current niche site? Are you putting it aside in 2019, or you will be still trying to develop it?

I am focused, that's for sure!

My current niche site is slowly dying. I'm not even totally sure what happened there. But it's all good because what I want to do with it while it's in this state is move it over to WA hosting. (It's currently at Wix.) So yes, I'll have to put it on the back burner for now. I hope to post something to it once in a while.

I'm considering changing it up anyway, so I'm also just thinking about what exactly I want to do with it.

Yes, agree that the focus should be only on one site at a time!

Great post. LIttlemama fired me up too. Her training vid are top notch. I got to get to work on the reviews. Seems like reviewing websites for people here at WA is good practice(and pays). See you in Vegas.

Well, the downside to that is that a lot of people do it. But, I try not to worry about the competition too much. I feel like there's room for all of us in some way. :)

Lots of luck and success to you!

Grace, (Littlemama) is a huge inspiration to many of us.
Thanks for writing about her and we wish you every success with your goals!

Thanks so much!

Thanks for sharing Littlemams training link I've come across a few references to it this week, so I'm going to take a look. Looking forward to meeting you in person in Vegas 2020!!.
Claire

That would be great, Claire! I think they need more women there! :)

Great account of your new plan inspired by Littlemama's training series. That is a great plan and mindset. Unless you are already doing so, try to either post and promote WA with your link and a motivational picture or create your own LinkedIn WA group and ivite your followers there because the audience is made mostly of professionals.

Last but not least consider, if you haven't done so, Webtal k and use your WA links there too.

Best of luck we will root for you.

Blessings

Thank you, I'll certainly consider your advice!

Hi Christina,

I hear you :)

I am pretty much at the same position like you are.
Actually I am just about to run FB ads as well, just want to make a better landing page on my website so I might be done next week.

But other than that - I am with you!
Lets do this :)

400 posts - Like you are saying it is great to see that needs to be done.

Cheers
Mike

Great, Mike! Let's get it going! Start typing. :)

Hi....with that attitude Las Vegas is certainly on your future. Good for you!
Debbie

Thanks! It also helps that I LOVE Vegas! lol

- Christina

Me too...I actually lived there for 10 years. It was a lot of fun.

Sure I want to be in...

The more the merrier!

Thank you for sharing this great post Christina.
I believe at the beginning, as an affiliate marketer we are going to do a lot of things and most of these are for test and trial. Once you have identified what works best for you and your site, you can start focus on those things and discard the other things ( or should I say keep it KIV). I believe those super-affiliate-marketers have gone through that phase before they live their laptop-lifestyle. They have gone through the hardship of trying a lot of things before landed to something that really works for them.
All the best.

Joe

Yup, I'm sure you're right, Joe! I know there will be lots of learning along the way, but I'm happy about that because I love learning new things. I think this will be challenging and fun and I have the time and energy to do it, so I'm going for it!

Thanks so much for reading!

You're most welcome Christina.
Keep writing and sharing.
