Better Cache = More Cash!
Hi Everyone,
Wow, it's been a bit of time since I've blogged - but Kyle's just so good at it right? hahaha..
We've been busy behind the scenes, and I'm excited to share some info about significant upgrades to our Wealthy Affiliate hosting security, specifically some major updates to our SiteSpeed Cache, and Bot filtering. These changes not only beef up defences, they ensure your website visitors have a smooth, uninterrupted experience that is snappy, fast, and engaging.
Bot (or computer) traffic can be a pretty big headache for your website. We see this all the time with plugins and services out there making all kinds of unnecessary requests to your sites. Bots can bog down your website's performance, leading to frustrating page load delays for your audience, and less optimal speed scores in Google PageSpeed Insights. That's why it's really important to distinguish between traffic from genuine human visitors, trusted services, and automated bots. It's equally important to ensure that Cached versions of your pages are ready to be served for as many requests as possible.
Cache is a static version of your website pages and posts and it's the absolute fastest way to serve a page to a browser. So, when a cached version of your pages and posts are available, we make sure to serve it as much as possible.
Our new security and updated Cache platform is specifically designed to let certain people and services through, and block those found to be pesky or malicious. And for those that we do let through, serve the content as fast as we possibly can!
Here are a few ways you're protected:
- Bot Comment Spam
- Login Brute Force Attacks
- Registration Floods
- Trackback/Pingback Spam
- XML-RPC Attacks
- DDoS Attacks
- Scraping Bots
- Form Submission Spam (contact forms etc)
- Search Floods
- WordPress API Abuse
- Unoptimized or Poorly Coded Plugins
By implementing advanced filtering techniques and providing unknown bots with a security wall, we're aiming to let in only real people and trusted services like Google, Bing, Facebook etc. The goal is to create a barrier that's tough on bots but transparent to users with the result being that your website loads quickly and reliably. When protecting your own websites from bots, we're also protecting your fellow WA members from bots. On shared hosting it's important to have security measures in place that protect everyone. That's the only way a shared hosting server can function optimally.
Here's how you benefit:
- Faster Loading Times
- Reduced Server Load
- Enhanced Security
- Improved Scalability & Reach
- Increased Uptime
- Better User Experience
- Less time wasted on Spam content
Overall, a better website that performs better and offers a better user experience...all equating to you earning MORE CASH!
Over the past few weeks, you might have noticed a message on occasion that says 'Checking Browser Security...' before your website is displayed in your browser. In those brief moments, our system is doing the heavy lifting to validate the incoming request. It's a quick check-in to ensure that the visitor knocking at your websites door is indeed a someone we want to allow in ;)
And Search Engines gets in - no worries there!!
There are only certain scenarios where we will consider implementing a security check. Before this "security pause" happens, our servers check if a cached version of the requested URL is available. If it is, visitors won't even see the verification message. A lot of work has gone into updates to our SiteSpeed Caching platform to help make this work so well. We've designed this all so that we see less than 2% of genuine users encountering the message ever.
Upcoming Server Innovations at WA to Further Elevate Website Performance!
The evolution of our hosting platform doesn't just end with sophisticated security and efficiency layers. We're working hard to improve the actual foundation upon which your website lives. That's another exciting part we're steering towards with our upcoming server upgrades.
In the coming months, we're going to be migrating the network to brand new server architecture that builds upon our current platform. This represents a significant leap forward in the technology that supports your website's daily operations. We're integrating the latest hardware and software with our proprietary security so that your website runs as quickly and smoothly as possible, while warding off unwanted visits that can harm performance. This is all part of our ongoing efforts to allow technology to fade away in the background while you focus on what matters - building and growing your online business!
You can rest assured that we are improving our platform every single day and will be here to support your SUCCESS!
So, today this has been a bit of a technical post - but one that hopefully lets you know how progressive we are being in the managed WordPress hosting space.
Drop me a comment below, I'd love to hear from you :)

Hi Carson:
It's great hearing from you. This is great news!
I've had a major problem with the very first website I built here since 2019. I get spam from my contact form, up to a dozen daily. Sometimes the same source sends me three each day. I was wondering what to do to get rid of this. Will this new security measure prevent that from happening?
Anyway, I appreciate everything that you, Kyle, and the team have been doing for the Wealthy Affiliate community.
Thank you!
Veron
Hi Veron,
Send us a SiteSupport ticket with your website URL so we can have a look for you. We may be able to figure out why the spam is getting through.
Thanks for leaving a comment!

Hey! Great post, don't get shadowed by Kyle ;)
Awesome news, but let me ask you this Carson, are those server upgrades (if we may call it that) for every WA member? Is there any tier like premium/premium plus?
Do we need to ask for migration or this is more like a whole platform upgrade?
Thank you in advance!
Pedro
I am so glad I chose this place to launch my website. The help and the work all of you do in the background makes me feel good. Knowing my site and content are secure and served up in a very professional manner. thank all of you for your diligent work.
Hi James , I'm glad that you've got the confidence in WA that we are striving for folks to have! Lots more to come on the hosting front :)
Thank you, Carson and team, for all this quantities of work that so much of help to us. Although I do not understand the IT technical language, I have picked two aspects: your work has ensured my website security, and also made it more user friendly!!
Thank you, once again.
Joseph
You're more than welcome Joseph! We'll take care of all the tech stuff so that you can focus on growing your biz :)
Can WA help launch or is that something for an affiliate here in this platform? Please redirect if at all possible! D K to whom I gravitated to but he is right up my alley and seems to know lots about developing an on-line business. I need either your help or his! Is that something you can help me out?
Hi Cora - We can help you with any part of your online business! If you've got a specific question or need a hand, then try blogging here in WA and let us know how we can help :)
Who am I following in this platform. I believe there is only one...possibly 2!
I'd like to thank him. Sounds promisimg and would like to/ maybe venture into his niche to develop and establish my cash flow income! Eventually I will find out. Or he may venture out or chime in to the comment he may send!
Will you or are you currently working together with the guy doing the programming of promoting marketing to get what I am working on to launch my business...(in the making).
Hey Carson, it was great to hear from you too. I agree 100 percent that page speed is important to ensure a satisfying visitor experience. I'm sure all of us here highly appreciate the efforts that go into making our user experience a pleasant one. That is why we are proud to be associated with WA.
Fantastic news Carson! Great to have this update. It just allows us all to have peace of mind so, as you say, we can perfect the front end of our business.
I love to know the detail of what you're doing, too. So reassuring to have such a dedicated tech team!
Blessings and Success. 😊
Great news, Carson (and I like reading posts from both you and Carson). This is exciting because I have yet to get my site loaded faster, and I have done everything I know how to do to improve the speed. I finally gave up a couple of weeks ago because I did not know what else to do, so my fingers are crossed. Hoping this helps my site.
I am always amazed at the great platform you and Kyle operate. Without you and your continual drive to improve things for us, many people would never get the chance to make their dreams come true.
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
Great to hear from you and thanks for dropping me a comment! There are many factors other than these changes that can affect your website - happy to have a look at your site if you want to drop me a PM any time. All websites start out 100/100 in Google PageSpeed insights here at WA. From there, each plugin you add will slow the site down - 99.99% of the time it's a plugin that's causing your site to achieve less than perfect scores in the search engines. On the server side, we've got you covered with blazing fast cache and website stability.

I tried to PM you, but my request went to Site Support. It would be great if you could take a look at my site. I may not understand how to work the PM.

Thank you, for this update, Carson. This is exactly the type of information I wanted. I believe your hosting service, and what we can do within it, is an often overlooked benefit WA provides for our customers and for us. I would personally like to see an expert class series specifically on this subject.
Yours, Donna
I so totally agree!!! Thank you deelilah for the suggestion and thank you Carson for the update.
Hey Delores - thanks for the comment, and you're welcome :)
