A Gust Of Wind To Drive Me Out Of The Doldrums - A lesson In Perseverance
Down with a thump I came...just to keep me in line! What a fortnight! It was not fun at all. I love learning new things but this lesson was tough, but it was obviously one that I needed to learn.
I have been writing posts and doing lots of research to try to get more quality articles on my 2 blogs. It has been tough going but I was satisfied with my progress, especially as my rankings on WA were climbing without me targeting anything to do that. I was just concentrating on my sites.
If you read my last few posts, you would have noticed that I had some concerns with what I consider to be a meteoric rise in the ranking. Far faster than I was comfortable with.

I decided that it was time to review my progress and what I had achieved. I mean, we are here to make money right? So why has my income declined instead of growing? What am I achieving with WA? Is it worth it?
I had lots of questions with a lot of disappointing answers on the face of it. What a disaster! It left me in the doldrums for 2 weeks while I tried to get re-motivated. It did not work. :-(
But I should have known. After 15 years in the Occupational Health, Safety Security and Environment sector and 23 years investigation, I am well aware that the answer to the question is rarely the answer to the problem. You have to dig deeper.
So why did I not apply what I teach others to my own circumstances? Well, that my WA friends is a topic for another day, but I did do some serious evaluation of my answers and... a Breeze.... a little one, but a breeze. I was moving again.
Yes, I was moving very slowly but I was moving. So I tweaked my sail and set it for the little breeze I had and guess what, I drifted into a bigger breeze, wait, I might even call it a Wind!
When you are in the doldrums, I don't know about you but, I find it very difficult to even read and make sense of the posts that other members are writing. It is just much easier to click the "Like" button and move on!
It was an embarrassing admission but, if you are not honest with yourself, you never find the true source of the problem. So, did I find the problem?
Well, it wasn't the tools, they worked for everyone else so it must have been.... Oh heck, I'm the only one in this boat, so guess.
There is a huge amount to learn here at WA and I have been really trying to get my head around it as quickly as I can but, this has left gaps...even in my perfect understanding of everything.
So, I have reset my sails and am busy fixing what I can. Luckily, here at WA there are many people who have openheartedly offered help, so when I get to the parts I find difficult, I will be knocking on one or two doors.
For now, I have found a breeze and before I set any more sail, I will make sure I can handle the boat.
Thanks to all my followers and those that have offered to help. I will be calling on you very soon (again for some of you.) :-)

Indeed...there is so much to learn....some days I think "I got this" and other days I feel like it's hopeless. Thankfully reading about other people's journey remotivates me to keep plugging away.
Enjoy the weekend.
Debbie
Hie Debbie,
That is true, there is tins to learn. The only problem is, is that you don't know how well you have grasped the concept until you put it into practise and it works or goes down in flames! :-)
Be patient with yourself (something I'm not good at) and keep plugging away.
Everybody has those days where you couldn't blow out one candle on your birthday cake (I don't know about you, but I have A FEW), let alone all of them!!
From what I've seen, you've got the talent and the grit, you just lost a little gas!
My best,
Laurel
Thanks Laurel. This is the great thing about WA - the support that you get from everyone... every time.

You just got to get back up and dust yourself off and start again from where you left off again. It sounds like you were in a fog. I get that way sometimes and right now I think I am in a fog so don't beat yourself down on this. You caught it in time and you can fix the problem. That is a great thing.
You are very welcome I know that still frustrating but back up take a deep breath and doing something fun and then come back to work because you have cleared your head. That way the creative juices will flow easier.
No one can deny that these plateaus we reach in our progress can become frustrating to a point of debilitating. Then again there can be the complete opposite energy in wave of extraordinary growth. My experience is that neither last before a changing of the "winds in progress".
So to appreciate the ride from rise to fall and back again, that is key. For what endeavors to be our greatness will undoubtedly bring the deepest challenge but with it all glory and satisfaction to have accomplished.
By the way,Bryan well written thoughts on this post...very enjoyable read.
Respect in kind regard,David
I keep telling people WA id like a journey and they should enjoy the ride. Something I should maybe remember!
Thanks David.
I find my motivation is like a sine wave. I climb up to a peak of motivation where I’m super productive, positive and focused and then, a few days later I’ll be back in a trough, questioning my progress and being tempted to quit (this actually happened six months ago).
What I’ve found really works for me is journaling. By writing about what I’ve achieved, it really helps to read these posts when I’m struggling... and so far I’m still back on track.
Good luck and swift sailing! ⛵️
Hi Phil, That is so very true. Just have to find a way to keep motivated consistently and not to second guess myself all the time.
We all go through these phases. Sometimes I feel invincible and at other times that I have learnt nothing.
Thankfully just putting one foot in front of another is enough to get me back on track.
Hopefully the doldrums are behind you again now.
Wishing you every success.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen
Great inspirational post.
Sometimes we can sail alone but there are times when we hit the waves. Some people can ride them out, some people reach out for help.
I ride them for a while but when I feel overwhelmed and I'm still being bounced about, I reach out for help.
Wishing you continued success Bryan.
Hi Jackie,
I am also one for riding it out as far as I can but I think it costs us in the end. Maybe we should reach out before we are in trouble.
All the best
Bryanb
I hear you Bryan.
However, personally, I like to do some investigation before I reach out as I learn that way. It may cost now, but I'll be in a much better position for the future, should the problem reoccur.
Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing being transparent. I think we ALL go through these times. I, too, am grateful for the encouragement I receive from other WA members. May the wind be always at your back!
Thanks Pamela, I will settle for a fair breeze, consistently.
