Help - 900 Up and I Need Sandbags

OK, so this is my serious side now.

Years ago I was involved with the Scouting movement in South Africa. It is a great organisation that teaches kids life skill that seem to be seriously lacking these days. I was asked to participate in the Provincial "Youth Conference" every quarter which I duly did.

The Province pushed the "Children's Rights" very hard and I believed, and still do, that you cannot just preach rights. There is a flip side and that is responsibility. I tried very hard to have more emphasis placed on the responsibility side and I was not very popular.

I am going to try to make this same point here -hopefully without displeasing too many people.

There is a sense of achievement when your ranking climbs and I suppose it is natural. We get rewarded for hard work. But just like "rights" it is a double-edged sword. There is a certain amount of responsibility that comes with it.

OK, I can't do this serious stuff anymore. It sure is fun seeing the rise in the number of people following me but..... I will have you know that you make me b!@#$% work.

It's great receiving all your comments and I read every one and try to reply to them all. I just believe it is rude to just take and not give something back, a thank you at least, which gives rise to my next dilema.

The more I answer, The more follow. The more that follow, the more comments I get. The more comments, the more replies, the more follower, the more comments, the more........OK, you get the picture. Now, despite what it appears, I am not complaining at all. I love reading all the comments and replying. I have met some great and interesting people.

The point that I am trying to make is that I feel that, with all these comments, followers and the subsequent rise in my rankings, I will be expected to give quality advice to people when they ask questions. That is surely one of the responsibilities of people that rank well.

I need some sand bags to slow my rate of climb, so that I can pick up a suitable amount of knowledge to enable me to give sound advice. What good is it reaching the clouds when I don'd know how to fly anything other than up?

Don't get me wrong, I love being in the clouds but.... Maybe I need an experienced pilot with me or a lot more experience before I take on passengers?

That's my nervous bundle!

Thanks to all you wonderful WA people out there. Thanks for all the comments and help.

All the best in ALL your endeavors

Bryanb

I know how precious time is, and I'm here to do a job for myself and my family, as I'm sure you are. After all family comes first.

It takes a lot of time to learn and then do. I do the best I can, and all the rest is gravy. Not something I should worry about on a day to day basis..

Laurel

Hi Laurel, I have been trying to follow the training as closely as possible to build my sites successfully. It has side effects though. :-)

The WA ratings will go up and down. I try to dedicate a small portion of my time each day to giving back to questions and replies.

I enjoy the interaction.

But, we are in this to run a business and don't lose site of that.

The give and take thread for me is really impressive and I return the take through my giving.

Well said

Thanks Donald. Trying to stick to the training and get my sites into the money. The ranking is just a byproduct of the training and work.

Hi Bryan, it is a strange feeling when you realise that you have suddenly reached the Ambassadors Hall of Fame without actually intending or trying to get there. I know that it took me over a year before I did it and I still felt and still do feel that I do not know enough when I see some of the questions that are asked. I do find that if I am not sure or don't know the answer I tend to back away and not answer, rather than giving wrong information.

Hi Cheryl, It is a bit unnerving as a fairly new person to WA. Just have to look up the training and refer people to it. It will probably make me learn more too. :-)

Thanks for dropping by

Hi Bryan,

Just do your best...Mr. Abassassador. And don’t overthink it, lol.

Have a wonderful, Ranking day. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Here’s to ALL of our successes and achievements: keep posting.

I enjoy reading your posts and yes, even if your ranting. Ha,ha,ha...sorry, lol, I just have no self discipline here and here’s a sand bag. Just in case. Wink, wink.

Respectfully and kindly,

Becky

P..S. Don’t worry, lol. Be happy and keep writing. Cheers.

Hi Becky, Thanks for the Sandbag, everyone helps. :-)

Hey Brian,

Forget the sandbags, lol, I’m buried neck high in emails, lol.

Cheers,

Becky

Answer and "BAG" them. I'll use them for weight too. :-)

Hey Brian...opps, I’ve never seen a name like yours with a Y as opposed to an I.

And no, I do not live under a rock or a sandbag, lol or for that matter emails, well maybe the emails yes, haha.

Loved your comment.

Why do I like your comment? Because I see the heart of a deep writer.

Kindly,

Becky

Thanks Becky, you are very kind.

we all have the same problem. my advice, which I don't take myself, is don't be so popular. ;)

Hey Steve, only 1 problem with that, You cannot complete all the SWAG tasks then.

no solution is perfect you know

We all have to start somewhere and moving up in the ranks is an added bonus but yes I can understand where you are coming from. I believe the more questions you answer and the more you help other people the knowledge you will have naturally.

Great post, Bryan!

Well Bryan I don't want to dissapoint you, but I am afraid I have to put my comment in.
The way I see it you are gaining experience with every answer you give. Sometimes you can't answer a question but yfrom your experience you know which direction to point them in.
From personal experience I have never come across such an active amd willing community and I have been on the internet far longer than I wish to remember, and been scammed countless times.
It is people like you that keep this community going the way it is. Please keep going and give us all the knowledge we need!

You are too kind Derek. It is all the help I have got from Fellow WAer and the training I have done in the last 8 months. I am by no means an expert.

Maybe not yet Bryan, but to us newer members you are a goto guy who is helping others where he can.

Derek

Thanks Kim. It is fun though. :-)

Well, here's another comment Bryan, keep up the good work! Lol
