It depends on the affiliate program. Amazon needs to have a profile in each country that the customer's purchase from. You will need to check into each program as you join to see if it will be universal or locally effective.

While you can edit images on wordpress, I would suggest to pre-determined the size of image you need before uploading them to your site. You don't want to upload images that are bigger in size as this can adversely effect your page loading.

Header images are theme dependent (this means it changes according to which theme you are using).

Go to the spot where you download the image for your theme it should tell you the min and max pixel size for the image.

Then you can go to the link I provided it should help if you are using Microsoft paint.

Many members used this to help them resize their images for their website as well but the same applies to any image. Screen Shots and Editing the Easy Way Page one is on how to take screen shots but pages 2-4 shows how to crop and resize images in paint which should really come in handy in this sort of situation.

You can do what Wong says but if you have 'Paint' on your PC/Laptop then that is great for resizing.
OR
You can use an online tool such as this one

In your WordPress dashboard.
Try click edit image in your Media library
Rescale it by entering the width and height in pixels.
Press save when done.
It works for me.
