Amazon has introduced a new feature to help US associates monetize traffic coming to their sites from the UK and Canada.

One Link allows you to link your US store ID to your UK and CA store ID's.

This allows Amazon to redirect visitors who click your affiliate links to products available to them, creating a better shopping experience for visitors.

***Important Update!***

When you update or change themes, you will need to re - enter your Amazon One Link code.

Ok, so I've linked and gone through the info above but in the US report there's nothing at all, it says no data found. Just gone back to check the link was in my html and was so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. I do have stuff in the UK one but nothing suggesting a US link.

It's so good you can do this but i'm in the UK. I've just connected my uk program to the us program but does this mean that all my activity will now be in the us affiliate reports or will it still be in the uk one if you follow me.

Tried this on my theme but it seems to be different - story of my life is what I have is not what others show.
Anyway I got clever and changed the theme, inserted the code as described here. Received a confirmation that it was done and then reverted back to my original theme (which I happen to like)
But not sure if it is there.
Anyway of checking?

Hi there,

Everytime you change your theme, you have to re enter the amazon one link code.

I hope this answers ur question
Reply
Bald Eagle Premium
It does - but not the answer I wanted. :(
The theme I have has a different layout in Editor.
Oh well my site is still a baby and no traffic to speak of as yet so I have time to sort it out.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi,

Go to appearance>editor>footer> scroll to the bottom where it says <body> below that directly, u should see the snippet code, if u dont see it, then amazon one link is not installed on your theme.

I hope this helps
Reply
Bald Eagle Premium
Tried that but I don't get the Footer part - there is nothing on the right hand side like other themes.
I am using Life Style which is a baby theme to Omega.
The entire editor comes up in the main body under headings and looks nothing like the others.
Bit scary to mess with it.
Thanks for trying though.

Try using a plugin instead. I just used "header and footer scripts". Makes the job much easier. This way your not messing with the code yourself also.

Sounds like the solution to my problem.
I did a search and came up with two plug ins with that title.
One by Digital Liberation and the other by Space x Chimp.
I've installed the first one based on # of users.
If I should use the other one please let me know.
And thanks once again for this.

This training is a life-saver. I had applied for UK and CA affiliate accounts a couple months ago but hadn't added any code to my site for it.

I forgot that you had to integrate the code and I've been getting quite a big portion of traffic from the UK.

Thanks Jeremy, great training! Especially for a first attempt. :)

I just applied a new theme for my blog which unlike other themes has the following after the footer code:

<?php
wp_footer();
?>
</body>
<div id="side-pane">
<div id="side-pane-inner"></div>
</div>
</html>

And when I add my Amazon code, it doesn't seem to be working! What do I do!?

i tend to use the custom html widget and just place it in the footer, or I use a header/footer plugin and place it in there. Last thing I want to do is mess with the actual code of the site

I have applied to all the available international Amazon affiliate programs (based out of the US). They all have been accepted and verified.

My problem is that when I go to Step 2, which is "Get oneTag code here", the box where the code is supposed to be is blank, and I have no idea how to fix this.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Reply

the one link is just for the US, Canada, and the UK. Is this what you meant? If so it should work if you are in the US. Betty.
Reply

This was a GREAT step-by-step. I successfully linked them up quickly.

Question: do I have to fill out the Tax and Payment information for each Account? Or are they all linked to my US Account?

Also, do I have to go back to every link on every post and change them or does it do that by itself?

Thanks,

Luis

The links should automatically update as long as they are linked in Amazon.

I believe that tax info is only required for your own country.

And If I to to use the onelink on two website, do I have to sign separately? Or get the code for each website? Thanks.

Cinderella you don't need to create another email. all 3 in onelink are connected. You will go thru the sign-up for each one from your main Amazon account that you have now. Review the training and read below as a few others have posted extra help and ideas that could help you.
If you are in the US just follow exactly what Jeremy says.

I am using Studio Press Genesis and I don’t see the Footer THEME FOOTER (footer.php.) on the right-hand side under Appearance>Editor. Can I add the code to the Footer Script in my Theme Settings? Or can I add the code to the Amazon Affiliate Disclosure footer I have (add code to the "text" side vs the "visual" side)?

Hi Jeremy, here I am again to ask you a quick question. I still cannot get this OneLink to work for the life of me and it is driving me crazy. I was wondering if there is anyway to cancel it, unlink and do it again. Have you got any idea at all.

I have tried AdInserter even but that isn't working either so not sure what to do now. Obviously when I did it the first time it was correct and I must have missed the part where I put in what I wanted it to say or I would have been ok. xxxx
Reply
jeremy111 Premium
Hey Cheryl.

Did you notice any redirected traffic?

I'm a little confused with "what I wanted it to say". What you wanted what to say?

As far as starting over, I don't see why not. I would contact Amazon via email, or call them and get their take on the situation.

Also, as MsMerry stated, the implementation of One Link needs to be initiated from the US store.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for getting back to me. When I first did this I obviously did it correctly as the link went in where it should but it should not have been the code showing. What does yours say at the bottom and how did you get it to say that? Merry was speaking about after it has been verified a box should pop up and that was what I was referring to when I said about it saying what I wanted it to say.

I have done everything as they said and as your training says, it is just getting it to show up but not as code. xxxxx

I'm not sure if it is different for you, but I had no such box pop up. Mine doesn't show or say anything.

Are you noticing any redirected traffic yet?
Reply

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you Jeremy. No I never had any box either so not sure what Merry was talking about. I had done as they asked until I had the code then wasn't sure where to put it so looked at your training and then the it showed the code at the beginning but when I took it out again I have no idea what I have done.

No I've not had any redirected traffic yet. xxxx

Hello Jeremy,

I signed up for Amazon associates US and Amazon associates Canada. Got the OneLink set up as instructed in this training.

Now since I am living in the UK, my bank details are UK based. Does that make any difference?

And can you please explain why am I not able to see anything related to US or Canada traffic under "Link Type Performance" on my Amazon UK account?
Reply
Triblu Premium
Hey Haider,

As I explained earlier, it truly is best that you contact your Amazon Associate support staff regarding your banking details with them.

As for your links not sending you to US or Canada ... the OneLink links are coded to distinguish which country the clicker (you) live in by your IP address. So ... if you live in the UK and you click on ANY OneLink Amazon affiliate link (yours or anyone else's) it will show you the UK products.

Hope this answers your question.
Reply
jeremy111 Premium
Hey Trish!
Thanks for jumping in.
Great explanation :)

Haider:
How long have you had One Link set up?
Amazon analytics are only reported every 24 hours, so if you just set it up you won't see anything yet.

Also, how do you know for certain that anyone who needed to be redirected clicked your links? Your redirected traffic will show as "global redirected traffic", not necessarily giving you the specific region it was redirected from.
Reply
haiderkh87 Premium
Okay got it. Will check after 24 hours :)
And where do I check that, on Amazon US or my Amazon UK home account?
Reply
Megan8 Premium
Hey, did you change your primary account to UK? If so, how did you manage to do that?
Reply
haiderkh87 Premium
I actually signed up for Amazon UK first and got to know about OneLink afterwards. So, I created Amazon US and Amazon Canada accounts and got the OneLink set up then.

But since I had already my bank details entered on Amazon UK (the account that I had created before other Amazon accounts), my earnings are in GBP there. However, I am not sure if the OneLink is working fine as I haven't got any sale from outside the UK so far!!!

If you have any other queries or suggestions, please do share :)

Thanks for the feedback.

Did you set up OneLink through Amazon US or were you given an option to do it with the Amazon UK account?

Because in Amazon Canada (the one I want as my main account) I wasn't given OneLink option so I had to do it through Amazon US. I'm just wondering if it was the same for you.

Also, should I set up my payment information first with Amazon Canada if I want that to be my primary account? I set up Amazon US first but now I have all US, Canada and UK accounts.

Is there a way to make one account the main one if I didn't set up with that one first?

Thanks for any help.
Reply
haiderkh87 Premium
Yes, I set up the OneLink through Amazon US as other Amazon accounts don't give you the OneLink option!

As for the payment information, I think it has to be set up with your home account (Amazon Canada in your case) as I also did it for my UK account only. To be honest, I am also not 100% clear on this and would like to request anybody from the community to explain further, if possible :)

P.S. To test the OneLink, you can share your site URL (if you want) and I can test it for you while being in the UK and see if I am directed to Amazon Canada or Amazon UK. Hope that helps!

But, I have one question for you. In the past Amazon had a plugin which redirected visitors to the Amazon site of their country to a same or similar item. The problem was if they went ahead making a purchase, you wouldn't get commission.
Do you get commission for sales in countries you are 'one linked' to?

Thank you

One question - does it work both ways? For example, if I put a UK link in will it redirect to the US site if a reader is in the US? Or should I always use the US link and it will redirect?

Awesome Louise!

This is a great question.
I would have to assume that it would work either way since we have the one link code on our sites, but my feeling is to use the US link until I get a definitive answer from Amazon.

I will try to email them tomorrow for clarification.

While I'm not a code expert by any means, I believe that any properly formatted html file should have a closing </body> tag before the closing html </html> tag.

Can you add a screen shot of the end of your theme footer code here?

Hey Jeremy,

This is GREAT news ... Thank YOU!

Shuckers ... I just logged into Amazon but "Launching OneLink" states the following:
"Please link your store and get it validated before mapping individual tracking IDs"
so we need a store before we can use the individual tracking OneLink option, by the sound of this. Now I have to get going adding my store ... huh.

This is truly GREAT news for all Amazon affiliates!
Reply
jeremy111 Premium
Hi. You are most welcome! :)

If you are referring to Amazon astore, then no, you do not need an astore on your site.

When someone clicks your affiliate link, they are sent to what Amazon calls your storefront.

This is basically your affiliate ID, AKA - your store.

P.S. In case you haven't heard, Amazon will soon be retiring the astore.

Amazon One Link basically allows you to link international traffic to your US store (ID) to help monetize that traffic when they click on your affiliate link.

Hope that helps.

Amazon has already retired the Amazon store. That was shared in a brightly displayed alert when I logged in this afternoon.

If what you say is true then what is with the following prompt:
"Please link your store and get it validated before mapping individual tracking IDs"
Reply
jeremy111 Premium
Hi Trish.

The prompt is telling you that you must link and validate your CA and UK stores to your US store (ID's) before Amazon will give you the code to put on your site/sites to implement Amazon One Link.

After adding the code to your site, Amazon will then be able to redirect your CA and UK traffic to your proper store (ID) when an affiliate link is clicked.

Amazon will retire the aStore on 10/27/17.
Hope this helps.
Have a great day ~Jeremy
