Where Is Your Sponsor (Referrer) Hanging Out?

UPDATE:

For those of you who have been interested in this post, here is the result of it:

(1) My Referrer did shoot me a message, albeit a very short one, saying hello and how are you. I answered and explained why I was trying to connect. Whether or not I hear back doesn't matter. Mission accomplished!

(2) For the first time since I have been on WA, this post put me in the Today's Top Ten Posts. Imagine my surprise.

So all is good. I am moving forward to do what I came here to do, like so many of you. The journey continues and I am gearing up for it!

__________________________________________________________________________

I have noticed several blogs with regards to "finding who your sponsor is." I know who my sponsor is but not much else. In fact, I am curious about my Sponsor. From what I have observed:

  • He is very young
  • His bio is exactly ONE sentence
  • He has not been active via posting, training or asking questions in WA
  • He has been with WA since 2016
  • He has a network on WA nearing 9,000
  • He has no way outside of WA of being reached – has only a FB page which is NOT found
  • I have never received any welcoming messages from him
  • I have checked his activity and he did respond to someone's question one month ago.
  • YET HE RANKS well below 200 (I do know what his rank is) and he is listed as a Top Helper!

I saw a post by Tony Hamilton saying to check out our sponsor’s website to see how he/she is getting referrals but no website to be found.

Although the above has not inspired me, I have tried to contact him. No response. I want to give him the benefit of doubt. Perhaps he has so many referrals that he just doesn’t have the time to contact each one? Or maybe he has legitimate reasons for not responding and I shouldn't jump to conclusions without knowing more.

My question is "Is it important to have contact with the person who brought you into WA or should we just forget about trying to connect with them."

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Mary Ann,
I understand its important to you, and i think i would do the same myself, if i had a sponsor. But given he is pretty much MIA, i would not really give it too much attention you are doing great and have a lot of people here in this community to help all the best Mary Ann. God Bless
Ann

Thank you so much Ann. I am doing great, just need to do greater!

Mary Ann

Interesting thought. I'm pretty sure my referral is Kyle, so I don't expect too much time from him. lol Although, I have to say, he's been very responsive to my questions, which I'm grateful for!

With that said, some sponsors offer to coach or mentor when they sign you up, but not everyone does that. I think it's OK if they don't want to be as social. They may have a different strategy.

The good thing about a site like this is that you have TONS of people willing to help, so you don't really need a sponsor to guide you along.

Yes, they are getting a payment from you, but their main job was to bring you onto the platform, and as long as you're learning and growing your site, that's a good thing, right?

- Christina

Totally Christina! I don't feel 'lost' or at 'sea'. I know there are so many here to help us all in our journey.

And it is true, not everyyone is 'social'.

Thanks for your input.

Mary Ann

I totally agree with what Christina has said here.

Even though your actual "sponsor" is not social with you, you have plenty of other members that are ready, willing and able to help in any way that they can.

I see that you only follow some 700 other members. I suggest that you start following a lot more. I have over 5,000 members that follow me and I follow over 20,000 other members.

When I ask a question or post any kind of blog, I get answers almost immediately, and they are from "other" members, not my actual sponsor (which has never answered any of my questions since I have been here) probably because he's got his own things to deal with, which is fine!

We are a community, and we (the active members) help each other which is what sets WA apart from any other platform right?🙂

Have a great day/night!

Denis

Hey Mary Ann,

People are different. Some like to socialize, others not. Because WA is not an multilevel marketing (MLM) then it's not really important to know your sponsor. Because he/she is not your biological parent.

I would recommend you mingle with those WA members who have something to offer and with whom you feel comfortable.

And give thanks to God for that person who helped you find your way to WA.

Just my two cents :)

God bless,
Egon

Thank you Egon for your 'two cents' worth. Appreciate the feedback.

Mary Ann

I can see why that annoys you...a large part of WA is the community aspect. The good news is...YOU are well on your way despite your "missing" mentor!
At this writing, you are nearing the top 1,000 in rank, with 74 blogs, and have asked more than 40 questions.
Looks to me that you have used his inattention as a propellant to succeed!
Continue as you are...it's working!
At the end of the day, we are individuals, with very different skill sets, and views.
We must all focus upon our strengths....it is obvious that you are doing that!
Thank you for this post....I am following you!
Regards,
Billy

Thank you Billy. Great words of wisdom. I am following you as well. It is true that I have not let that hold me back. What would be the point, right? Thanks again.

My sponsor is no longer active, but I hope the commission still goes to good use. I wonder if Kyle gets the commissions for referrals when the referring member departs. I think if they left, it would be ok to ask them if you have their contact.

Never thought about that.

Mary Ann

I'm pretty sure the non-premium members would just get half the commissions for their referrals ($11 instead of $22). Not sure if the same applies if the member was a Premium and then left. But the rank of around 200 should means he's at least checking WA regularly.

You have an awesome group of people here who will help you. Not to forget the great training on this site. John

Thank you!

Mary Ann

Hi Mary, I know exactly how you feel. Maybe we both have the same sponsor cos I'm in the same boat!

I have looked everywhere on this platform to find my sponsor and I even contacted Kyle but got no response.

I also did not get any welcome message from my sponsor. I feel lost most times and it would be nice for my sponsor to come out and say hi or even render help.

You are not alone.

I wish you all the best on this journey. With or without a sponsor I believe we will all achieve our goals.

Best wishes.

I understand what you are saying. Truly, though we are not alone but having said that. it would be an nice to hae the opportunity to have a little 'one-on-one kind of interaction with someone. Not saying the whole community isn't helpful just that it would be nice to connect with one person and build a relationship with them as we go forward.

However, I don't believe in sitting around and waiting. There are many opportunities for us here.

Thanks for responding.

Mary Ann

You are welcome Mary.

All the best.

Hi - how strange. By process of elimination, I have worked out who you are talking about. I have never seen him active anywhere on this site. I personally would be somewhat annoyed, as obviously he is receiving commission from your subscription. However, nothing you can do about it, feel free to ask any of us when you have a question.

Well, good for you, lol. Thanks for your thoughts. I do know there are a lot of people here to help.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are so many amazing, helpful members that all of my questions always get answered. It's great if your referrer is helpful and easy to reach. But you don't need him/her to get the help and support you need: it's everywhere on this platform.

Very true. Thank you.

Mary Ann

Well, the role of a sponsor is to help you. But on some occasions, sponsors failed in that role.

It is extremely important to have someone that will help you through your journey.

Wealthy Affiliate is a community full of people that love to help, I am such one also. And if you will ever need any help, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you.

Best wishes,
Dalibor.

How kind of you! Thanks.

Mary Ann
