Sending Prayers to Floridians
With the hurricane coming to Florida nobody can truly predict which direction it's going to go. I've been trying to follow the news today, and they seem to be quite contradictory.
It's difficult to distinguish real news from fake. Thus, Irma was called in some pieces of news category 6 hurricane, the category which doesn't exist.
But in reality, category 5 or 4, going to strike the east coast or the west coast, it's disastrous.
Florida Governor Rick Scott ordered that all public schools, colleges and universities be closed through Monday. The governor warns residents:
"Irma is wider than our entire state and is expected to cause major and life-threatening impacts from coast to coast," he said Friday. "Do not put yourself or your families at risk," he added. "If you have been ordered to evacuate and are still at home, please go."
The situation very much resembles one from a horror film. Difficult to believe in reality of what's happening.I didn't want to place any photos of devastated hurricane - hit areas or updates of the move of this beast. There is a lot of it online.
I just want to tell our WA friends who live in Florida that we are with you in our thoughts and prayers, and we wish you to stay safe.
Please do your best protecting yourselves and your families, we are sending our best prayers your way.

I like it, how you put it Paul. I certainly feel it absolutely necessary for us here to pray for our friends in view of this disaster.
PLEASE evacuate and do what authorities say especially near the shore. Homes and property can be replaced, but YOU and your FAMILIES cannot.

I too will be sending prayers to everyone in harm's way. As a former Floridian who went through Hurricane Charlie in Punta Gorda I know the challenges.

Well, I lived in a water community, meaning that we had canals where we could park our boats behind our homes. The first thing my neighbors and I did was protect the house - windows, etc. then set extra lines on the sailboat, etc. I had previously filled up my cars with gas and had extra diesel fuel for my boat because it had a generator. my ex and picked a safe spot in our house for us and our cats to hunker down.
In retrospect we should have probably left the area. We were very lucky no windows were broken and I had some roof and lanai damage and we had minimal storm surge. But we had no power for about 2 weeks.
I think you need to heed all the warnings. The biggest risk is the storm surge.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. Luckily I live in a no flood zone but the impact will still be damaging. We are now preparing for the worst and hoping for the better. I'm sure I will be without power for several days so if you don't hear from me you will know why. My prayers go out to everyone who will be affected by this devastating hurricane.

Yes, I am in north Florida so hopefully, it won't be as bad here as it will be further south.
Some famous meteorologists say it should be east, some west.Can't believe this all is true.
