Here is an update on my yesterday's "Brain" post. Actually, here are some exercises which can help you keep your brain active. And also, here's the link to my yesterday's post in case anybody wants to have a look.

From the responses I see that with some people the right side is the dominant, with some- the left, some people say they make the girl turn in both sides. This test is not the only method to determine the dominant part, of course. From the description of the basic functions of each part of the brain you see what prevails. Besides, there are not many clear types , like with anything in nature. There are no, or at least not so many, clear intraverts or extraverts, there are not many clear spring types or summer, etc. types of women's appearance.

The same is true here.We can speak of this or that part of the brain being dominant with the other part also working. Thus I am definitely a right-brain person with the language ability (the left side function). And learning languages definitely involves work of both parts of the brain. This can be applied to many other activities.

Anyway, a balanced brain is what all of us need. I managed to come across these two pictures of the girls turning in slow motion and with the leading leg given colour. It's very easy to follow the movement this way. After looking for some time at the picture look at the picture beneath and try to make the girl move both sides. Take some time every day to do it.

A year ago I did a good , thorough training on the brain activity , and this is one of the highly recommended exercises for balancing the work of the brain and making a non-dominant part of the brain not so lazy.

Here are two more good exercises.

Try to perform totally different actions with both hands, like imitate using a hammer in one hand and using a saw in another.See if you can do it.

And here is one more. Rick, the children you teach will be excited.

1) Clap your hands.

2)Touch your left ear with your right hand.

3) Clap your hands

4) Touch your right ear with your left hand.

5) Now quicker: Clap your hands.

6)Touch your left ear with your right hand.

7) Clap your hands. etc....

And here are some more good brain exercises:

*Grab some coins and put them in your pocket, then feel them Without looking, study their sizes, textures, Try to figure out what worth each coin is.Doing this, you use your sense of touch. you can do the same ewith the different items of clothes.

*Close your eyes and walk around your house while trying to recall where your furniture pieces are. Remember though, safety first, walk around slowly so you don’t get hurt. By closing your eyes and changing up your routine you are testing your memory and making it work in a way that it is not used to.

*Do things that get you out of your normal thinking pattern. For example if you read magazines about motorcycles or camping try picking up a magazine you would never read. This will stimulate creativity and get your brain thinking in ways it never does.

*We have all been in the car driving with our brains on auto pilot. Try changing up your routine and taking a different route home, this will wake up and engage your brain.

*Write with your non dominant hand. Tell yourself for a day or maybe even a week that every time you go to write something down you will do so with your other hand. Like the other exercises this will stimulate your brain but this particular one will stimulate parts of the brain that are normally not engaged.

*Grab 10 to 15 spice or herb jars for this next exercise. Try to identify each spice or herb one by one by it’s smell.

*By engaging your brain in new ways and using your senses in different ways will stimulate your brain and creativity. This is what neurobic exercises are all about, involving each sense. So next time you do something that is routine try to do it in a different way than you are used to, it’s that easy.

Like this one, Vera!
Great excercise, clapping, and touching alternate ears, I noticed that more concentration is required to keep the rhythm up☺☺☺

Thanks, Therese.
Like to learn about how our brain works.

This post is a keeper Vera thank you good stuff.

Thanks, Alexander. Just do it...:)

I like this kind of stuff-Good post, Vera. :)

Thank you, Rick. I like it too..We need to exercise the brain just like we exercise the body.:)

Did you like the concentration exercise? (claps and ears). Great for the kids, and for grown-ups too...I use this and many others during the lessons.:))

It was easy, but I wasn't going super fast. :)

Try to speed it up... In case you are interested,I can send some more stuff for the kids.

I do like that kind of stuff. :)

Very interesting Vera. I couldn't make the all black girl turn a different way by thinking about it. She just turns when she wants to. The upper ones both turned back and forth quite frequently; but the all black one took longer to turn. Very strange.

I'm exercising my brain by babysitting Isabella tonight. She is sleeping on my lap. ♥♥♥

But it's quite easy to turn the upper girls with that coor line. Gradually slide the sight to the black girl while spinning the color girls - I put them together on purpose- and practice your non-dominant part. It's as important as practising other parts of us which start with "A"..LOL
Cool girl is with you? Singing your beautiful songs to her? Cool...:)

I always thought I was right brained; but the spinning girls have me believing I am evenly balanced. Who would have thought.

She likes "I love you..a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck". Every time I get to "hug around the neck" she laughs out loud. Lol. She's adorable!

Excellent

Thanks, Kevin:)

As Mike says, Lumosity is great. Thanks Vera.

Welcome, Steve...:)
Yes, it's very much OK, and even more. I tried some of their stuff...

Excellent! The exercizes are good ones. Some of them I had started doing a long time ago. Especially, try to not take the same route every day. Trade out with my left and right hand. As an artist sometimes the left hand is the one that works the best for what I am trying to do.
Fun stuff.
Thank you for sharing.
Linda

Pleasure. Writing that reminded myself of the benefits of all this stuff...:))

Nice work thanks, dear

Thank you, Mike! :)
