Brain conflict?

A human brain is divided into two distinct cerebral hemisphere connected by the corpus callo. The sides resemble each other but the functions of each side are distinctly different. While no one is really left brained or right brained only, unless a hemisphere is removed, it is quite interesting to see how people test. Broad generalizations are made in popular psychology about certain function on one side or the other. Actually, scientists continue to explore how some cognitive functions tend to be dominated by one side or the other, that is, how they are lateralized. The left side of your brain controls the right side of your body and vice verso for the right side. Different parts of the brains control different functions of the body.

Brain anatomy is very interesting and we know there are specific differences in the two sides. For instance, the lateral sulcus generally is longer in the left hemisphere than in the right hemisphere, but we don’t always see any functional differences. If a specific area of the brain is injured its functions sometimes can be assumed by another area of the brain.

Here's a well-known test on estalishing your dominant brain hemisphere. If the girl is spinning clockwise, your dominant hemishere is the right one, and if she is spinning anticlockwise, your dominant brain hemisphere is the left one.

Good news is though, that you can try to volantarily change the direction of her movement thus, training your brain and making not dominant hemisphere more active.

My dominant part is the right one, After some practice I can turn the girl anticlockwise, with some difficulty, though... . How about you?

And once again in case the girl gets tired (or something happens with the image, like it does sometimes), the turning girl for you to practice, and the link to the site.

"If you see the girl turning clockwise:

You are a RIGHT BRAIN thinker, which apparently means you are a creative thinker, you enjoy the arts, you like the thrill of working on new ideas and enjoy philosophical thinking.

If you see the girl turning anticlockwise:

You are a LEFT BRAIN thinker: which means you are a logical thinker, you enjoy rummaging through concepts for specifics, you enjoy mathematical concepts, science and are very pragmatic.

If you see the girl turning both ways:

You are a genius"

There are many other ways to train your brain, the simplest of which is to do usual everyday things in a different way, like brush your teeth or comb your hair using the left hand. Also breaking stereotypes of actions is a good idea. Going to your work using different route, approaching some work tasks in a different way, etc.

Then maybe you won't say this:

Let's do the test again. Any better? You can practice.

I'm right-side too. That colour one is so difficult lol :)

Colour( You guys make me write "colour" in two different ways- also some brain practice...lol) is very easy for me maybe because I've done it before. The girl is much more difficult...:)

I'm a right-sider like you Vera! Cool post! :)

Thank you , Pauline. Let's make our left side work- look for today's post.:)

Very cool. She spins to the left for a few seconds, then right. I can't make her go back left.

Wonderful... One more genius among us...Thank you..:)

I wouldn't say that...maybe a confused soul?...LOL...

Who knows.. we don't know everything about ourselves. Look for today's post...:)

Hi Vera,
This was a very interesting post. I almost got dizzy staring at the spinning girl...lol!!! I'm a right-brain person. That was a unique test to find out, I really enjoyed reading about it. Thanks for the insight. Have a good week. Take care.
Mary

Thanks, Mary... I just once went through a trianing on the brain, the test was mentioned there...I am mainly a right brain person too- who would doubt? lol

Outstanding post Vera. I must admit the girl had me going in both directions I think The clockwise view predominated..

Thanks , Mike. I am mainly right- brained too. It's good to use the image for practice , for a better balance between the two parts.)

I joined Lumosity and got practice with the color wording test there. I had fun switching my brain back and forth with the girls motion.

It's good ifyou can do it easily. For me it's a little difficult. But I've found the two great images- ging to practice. Look for today's post.:)

I'll admit it, I had some....ah.....challenges with the collr/word exercise, lol

I read something about the difference between the upper and lower part of your brain as well....but don't ask me to repeat it.....I think I was reading it using my right side of the brain.....

no, dear, no upper or lower parts were mentioned. I only know about the difference between the left and the right parts.

Great post dear, but what about a no brainer.

Nice post. I see anti-clockwise first. But if I just scroll away from the image, read a paragraph of text, then come back. It's clockwise. No idea why. :-)

Thanks, Ian... They say, a sign of a genius...:)

I definitely see both! First she went clockwise and then immediately anticlockwise. Freaky!

Yes, I saw that too!

Genius, uh?:)

Undercover, lol.

One more genius? Great!..:))

oh well... need to discover, or uncover, whatever...:)

Clockwise-tried briefly to reverse it-nothing happened. The colors were easy. Good post! :)

very easily- clockwise, with the difficulty the opposite- I am still learning languages..., but my main part is the right one for sure...thanks...:)))
