I have a longtail keyword that can be worded differently and still get a lot of traffic. Should I use the multiple variations in posts, or should I write pages and not add then

What MackieJW said ...

MackieJW has a point.

Use the different variations in a post, the strongest one as title, the others as headlines () tags, and TAGS. Don't forget to sneak them in your image and ALT descriptions.

John

I have a list of keywords that say the exact same thing but in a different way, each gets traffic. I really would like to get ranked for all of them seperately, but you think I should just try to squeeze as many as I can in one post?

Well, is it easy to write several 'original' posts around the same keyword, even if there are different search terms? That's the problem I am seeing there
John

Yeah, I have 8 articles that say the same thing but in a different way. My question is whether or not to publish them all as posts or make some of them operate as landing pages... I'm leaning towards publishing them as posts, because while they all may basically be saying the same thing, they have different titles and keywords.

I cannot view a page I published. I can view the excerpt, but when I click on the link to read full post I get this message: "Oops! that page can't be found."

Never had that issue.

I do. I'm new here. It's a challenge because this is the first time I'm using it. Learning is a process and it takes time to learn something new.

If you ever have any questions feel free to ask. It's good to have you apart of the community.

Also if you have hosting problems you can submit a support ticket and get your issue resolved very fast.

WA community is very helpful. Thanks for the feedback.

I have the problem where the new themes cannot be loaded today. Any heads up on this?

I take it you have uninstalled them and tried adding again, if it continues try putting a support ticket

thanks...katie

do not get disheartened sometimes we can try to hard rather than let it flow

If you cannot connect to WordPress to Install a theme, then you will need to download the theme as a zip file and then upload the file.

sounds like hassle wondered why it is not working see there have been new WP updates today

I don't know why the occasional problem, but it only takes a couple minutes to download and upload the zip file, if you already know what theme you want to use.

yea...i encountered the same

Issue Resolved. Thank you support...

You got this issue resolved?

Thankfully, yes, support fixed the issue for me in less than 24 hours :)

Yep, support resolved it. I don't know exactly what happened though...

I had issues with my WordPress site today, so I can completely relate.

Did you get them resolved?

I had a question about a WP database update in which I had to do in order to login to my website. I updated my WP but it did cause a few things to do haywire. It is getting resolved today as I comb through my site.

I'm glad you're getting it worked out.

Just a reminder, make sure you export your pages and posts into a file on a regular basis. I think maybe once a week.

Yep. I have the BackWPup installed on my site.

what is your blogg roll link?

Yes, knowing that would help ...

I found your blogroll, and choosing the latest post, I get a blank page.

Go to your post in edit form and give us a screen shot of ....see images
Maybe then I can figure it out

John

Yeah, that's what is happening now. I don't understand...

It would be good to know:

What post on what site. I figure you talk about your blogroll when you say 'excerpt'. So, guessing ahead, when you click to read the post, and get the Ooops message, there is something wrong with the URL. In order to find out what, one needs to be able to look at it. You show us the result but nothing to go from there.
John

Haven't had any issues today but I know what you mean. Ever since their update the dashboard is buggy and sometimes the visual editor is weird too. I haven't experienced this issue yet but my best guess would to be trying to clear out your cache and restart your web browser. Or try a different web browser, and if that doesn't work, try disabling javascript for when your own WordPress only. When I did that through Chrome my bugs through WP went down a lot.

Yeah, maybe that will work, but I had the dashboard issue Saturday, so I cleared everything then, and my computer was off yesterday. I'm not sure I know how to disable JavaScript for when I'm working on my site. I'll have to research that. And I have tried 4 different browsers: IE, Firefox, Chrome, & Opera. I have problems with all of them...

If you want to try to disable Javascript in Chrome, go to preferences>show advanced settings (at the bottom)>content settings then click manage exceptions under JavaScript. Type in www dot WordPress dot com and make sure its on block. Worth a shot.

I have built multiple websites, but they all are having the same problem displaying the menu, so I upgrade to WordPress 4.3, and the problems are still there.

yes, I hear the same...
I don't see that yet
I think Mackiejw has a solution.

This is a Chrome browser bug, known to WP and they work on it. In the meantime, there is a fix

- Go to chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint
- Enable the "Disable slimming paint" option.
- Ensure that the "Enable slimming paint" option below it is not turned on.
- Relaunch Chrome.

Enter this in browser bar

chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint

John

Tagged this answer, for future problems, thanks!

Awesome Mackie, that worked.
Thank you.

Ok, I did everything you told me too, but I'm unsure why I need to enter chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint in browser bar. Should I disable it, or keep it enabled?

Disable it TravH

Your first 4 steps only fixes the first problem, but if I disable it the problem comes back.

I tested this on 4 different sites and themes.

Did you make sure both are disabled?

This is what I have tried:

1. Enable the "Disable slimming paint" option.
2. Ensure that the "Enable slimming paint" option below it is not turned on.
3. Relaunch Chrome.

(This method fixes my first problem only.)

1. Enable the "Disable slimming paint" option.
2. Ensure that the "Enable slimming paint" option below it is not turned on.
3. Relaunch Chrome.
4. Disable "Disable slimming paint" option.

(This method fixes nothing.)

P.S. I never enabled "Enable slimming paint", that was not in the instructions, if that's what you mean by "Did you make sure both are disabled."

both need to be disabled
John

Thank you John, you got back before I could.

I must be doing something wrong...

I've tried 4 methods:

1. No Go 1, disable both (attached image)

2. No Go 2, disable bottom (attached image)

3. No Go 3, disable top (attached image)

4. No Go 4, enable both (attached image)

No 1 did the trick for me......and I found the solution on 3 different posts on the web (one by Google/Chrome itself)

Oh, don't forget to clear browser cache as well
John

Disable the 2
clear browser cache as well

Tried it... I even ran disk defrag and malware & virus scans.

Until I get this fixed, I guess I'll be using Internet Explorer, because Firefox doesn't let me use the editor for some reason :(.

Try Safari
John

I use Microsoft Windows. I have Opera installed too, so I may give it a go.

Safari works on windows also. It's faster than Chrome, but i don't like the looks of it
John

Yes I have used Safari. I never cared
much for the look but it works great.

Yup. It's f***** annoying! hehe
I hope they fix it soon.

I wish I knew! I have not had that , can you run your debugging? Maybe, it is in your computer?

It is a WordPress issue.
I am having the same issues
As are many others.
I have not figured out if it can be resolved.
or if WordPress will address this and fix it.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone, but I hate to see others having this problem. Maybe we can get it resolved fast...

I personally think it's a WordPress problem, but I do not know for sure. It seems to me like they are releasing updates very quickly, maybe a little too quick...

If you find a fix, please let me know.

Will do

I have been using WA's keyword tool extensively for the past couple weeks, but I have noticed that the results it gives me, as far as monthly searches go, is totally different

Keyword research is art more than science. confusion is good.now take a deep breath . I ask you this question. who are your competitors in page 1 whatever google bing Yahoo. you got to research their sites.lets say you target keyword like supplements for body builders.

Now you clicked every site on page 1 . What do you see.?Many sites all focus on the subject?or happened to target for that? What's your judgement ?I mean if you like to open s shop selling yor niche.but if you find mostly are stores selling nutrition for all ages. Then why you can't open one just one focusing on your niche?you got a Market right?

Don't Get too hung up on the keyword tools data.important is if you successfully refer to Amazon example you get a fat comm
Its wotrth to do it.

Think like you are starting a store.Competition is everywhere but if you Focusing on just one Category of your competition. Then even its hell lot of competition but not focus so what?

Use your own discretion my fren.Be like water.what is water when you pour it into a bottle ?what is water when you splash it to the floor? Can Water be drank if its frozen?

If they are free keyword tools disregard them. I have built my 3.5 year old online business exclusively with the free keyword tool here at WA. So far so good :)

Depending on how you set up the search, it will affect the results... There is a lesson on this, let me pull up what I have tagged to get you some advice...start here, then do a search in the window directly above your post to show more...

I have done searches changing features and not changing them. I also have done searches in private mode, but I get the same monthly search results... For example, I found one long tail keyword that gets over 6,800 monthly searches with only 10 competing pages! However, two other very popular tools give out no info at all!

That's just one example.

I second that motion--Jaaxy is what I use!
Ed

I have had nothing but good experience with Jaaxy. Have you tried that one?

Yes, I have an account, and have run test with it, but have gotten the same results. If the data was just a little off, I could live with it, but seeing it is several thousand off, I see a problem... I trust that I'll see things clearly soon and be able to go about my research with confidence again.
