How the colour purple affects senses

Purple can be a very relaxing colour and encourages sleep and a lower heart rate. Associated with royalty, it conveys wealthy and sophitication. It's also seen as a feminine and romantic colour. Because the colour is not as common in nature as other colours the brain processes it as being rather articifical.

Use of purple on websites

Useful to promote sophisticated products.

It is a great colour for promoting children's products. Apparantly 75% of pre-adolescent children pick it above all other colours.

So if we created a WA gym, people would be able to lift unbelievable amounts of weight? :)

Great resource as usual Beverley, very informative!

It is amazing how colours can impact different parts of our brains and have subtle impacts on our decision making process. It seems as though looks are important afterall!

Great resource to add BIS, this is something many new people including myself often forget to take it account when designing or picking a color scheme. Thanks

Thanks Craig. I'm probably the opposite of you. I spend a lot of time fussing around with the colours - but generally to my taste, not necessarily that of my visitors.
