The Scroll Bar Method

As opposed to the graceful pop-over method that List Builder uses, you can install the Scroll Bar app for something different.

Repeat the same steps to install the Scroll Bar app from the SumoMe store as we did for the Sharing app and the List Builder app.

Then, within the settings of the Scroll Bar app, you can choose different ways to have the from slide into your homepage (or other pages).

For example, here it is active on my SiteRubix test site:

Yep, this is just the default template. You'll need to tweak the design again if you wish to use this method. The steps and options are all the same though.

The difference only being that you can have this show up in your choice of each of the four corners of each page.

The Smart Bar Method

I have seen this one used extensively on many websites. There is one WordPress plugin widely used called Hello Bar that does the same. But, again with SumoMe you can do it AND have social sharing icons with ONE plug-in.

Here's the Smart Bar in action:

You can have it show at the TOP of the page or the BOTTOM.

You can make it "Sticky" so it always appears as the user scrolls down. OR not. (is that slippery?)

The Welcome Mat Method

This is another really cool way to obtain email addresses with your opt-in form that totally takes over the entire screen. Now, again, before you say this is entirely too obtrusive, allow me to show you how a well-known six-figure earner uses this same method via the Hello Bar plug-in.

If you don't know Neil Patel, then I'm guessing you're not in the Affiliate Marketing niche. He's well-known is that industry, as well as Content Marketing and Social Media Marketing.

Here is his implementation of the same method with another plug-in :

It's very clean (minimalist) and provides a simple Call to Action. A Like button.

Pretty cool! He's using the Hello Bar plugin, indicated by the wee little "H" logo at the bottom.

Here's the SumoMe Welcome Mat implementation on my test website:

You can simply scroll down OR click the wee blue arrow button the bottom of the screen and it will scroll for you.

If the website visitor chooses to scroll , here's the way it appears in action:

Please keep in mind, this is a test website and there by fairly poor graphics and zero content! :-)

Summary

Okay, this was a really LONG training tutorial for me anyway!

But, SumoMe can do so much and this is just touching the surface.

We have implemented the social Sharing app and the Email capturing portion of it. This training should give you a good understanding of how to setup install the plug-in and quickly get going with the Sharing app and then choose which email capture method you would like to use and get it setup in no time!

I hope you have fun with it!

Cheers!

Peej

When I tried to move my icons from the left to above and below the article, I can not. It is saying that I have to upgrade to SharePro to override the default settings.

That's very unusual Suzette. For the test website I created for this training, I used a new install of SumoMe and everything was totally free. Is yours a new install of the SumoMe plugin?

Hi PJ, I went and looked. I have version 1.10. It was updated a month ago. States it is the latest version. BUT it also says that this plugin ha not been tested with my current version of wordpress. That concerns me. Does this mean I have to update my wordpress version or it is a conflict with my theme?

Great tutorial PJ, I've been looking at this one closely and will get it sorted soon. I will also bookmark this as I think I'm going to need the help getting it all up and running :)

One question I have, are you allowed to use the paid functions on multiple sites or do you have to pay for each one?
