Rules & Spam Police?
I have recently been called the Spam / Rules Police.
1 Member who has been here for over 4 years, when I asked him to take down his clickable website link within his post (Major Violation) (website names aren't even allowed much less clickable outside links) told me
"I'm good bro, thank you for spamming my posts"
It is all of our responsibility to not only follow the rules but also to let others know when they aren't following the rules.
Send a private message first and see if the member will listen especially if it is a new member who may not be aware of his or her violation.
Your Write privileges can be revoked, this post is in violation of the Wealthy Affiliate Rules established by Kyle and Carson by having your website name included.
If you value your WA membership and don't want to jeopardize your hard work then I suggest that you follow their rules.
If everyone breaks the rules and gets away with breaking the rules then the WA community wouldn't be the Safe Haven that it is and there would be chaos.
Please read and reread the rules & if not sure then ask Kyle, Carson or Jay aka Magistudios.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co... = Spam is a No No blog by Kyle!
Spam or blatant promotions are not allowed within Wealthy Affiliate. If your intended purpose of being here and to engage is solely based on your underlying promotions, please refrain from doing this. The reason we are firm on our stance on self promotion here at Wealthy Affiliate is we are and want to continue to be a safe haven for people. One that is free of all promotions and focuses on people helping each other! :)If you want to offer help or training or tell a story, do so within the mediums provided here (create training, create a blog post, engage within comments or chat with others). Here are the rules for spam within WA. If you go against any of these, you may lose all posting privileges within WA and depending or may be completely removed from WA without the ability to ever join again (yes, we do take this stuff seriously).
- No unsolicited messages promoting products, services, or outside communication to be sent through private messaging. This will lead to immediate removal of your ability to post anywhere within WA.
- No copied content allowed to be posted here at Wealthy Affiliate. This content will be immediately removed and you will lose posting privileges.
- Do not copy content from WA and post it somewhere else on the Internet. This includes copying your own blog content and putting it on your website.
- No promotions with comments or chat. Although these may seem like subtle ways to promote, if you are caught doing this, you will likely lose privileges. If a link is posted out of an act to help someone, not sell something, that is OK.
- No training should be focused around a promotion of a product or service or give half information. If it does, then it will be immediately removed from the training at WA and you may lose all privileges to post training in the future.
- No blog or forum posts that are created for the pure purpose of promoting a product. This does include product reviews. Rants are OK.
- No adding affiliate links to any blog, training, discussion or private message
- Do not anything that is "niche" specific. If you have a dieting website or a website that offers people recipes, these types of posts should be reserved for your own website and not within Wealthy Affiliate.
- Do not post content where your readers are required to go to an external website to "read more". All of the content must be self contained within the post itself.
- No soliciting phone numbers or asking people to call you
- Asking for personal contact information
- Any in appropriate content (adult content, website URL's or related images)
- Soliciting communication outside of the Wealthy Affiliate platform
- Using incorrect or misleading headlines within your discussions or blog posts
- No faith or religion based posts
- No signatures at the end of your posts (posting your website URL, image, etc)
- No politically driven posts
- Promoting ANY product whatsoever
- Anything else that you are knowingly doing in attempt to sell something.
- We do not allow any form of fundraising or charity including that campaigning for members here within WA. Please keep all fundraising campaigns external of WA.
- No "click bait" titles. The title of your post must represent the content you write. Do not create titles that are confusing and that have the purpose of attracting the most clicks as possible.
We are all here with the ultimate goal of success, if you try some "sneaky sneak" spam attempts within WA, you will be caught and you may be in for an "account explosion"! We are flexible on every other aspect of WA other than spam. No exceptions. Just don't do it!
We truly are a community of help and if you see any form of spam going on, please do let us know and we will handle accordingly. :)
I have written this post so that Friends here at WA are kept safe and in the hopes that all are held to the same rules.
All of us should be held to the same rules no matter what our "Rank" and/or time at WA, being a Super Affiliate etc.... Do you agree or should some have different rules?

You've tried your best to protect us from spammers Tony. If this person ignores you then please report the infringement directly to Kyle. He takes this sort of thing very seriously.
I'm new here and there's a bit of an overwhelm with all the lessons and the blogs and the services and the ambassadorship and the Jaaxy and the affiliate talk and the emails and the everything and the likes and the live chats and the followers and the... and the...
If I accidentally break one of these rules because I don't have them memorized yet, all I ask is that you remind me nicely. It's a LOT to process when you are new to WA. So a little grace is all I ask.
That being said. I'll read them again and do my best to respect the community here.
Thanks,
Tasha
I'm in the same boat! I'm trying to learn from others' experience, but if I err, even after cautiously applying all this, I'll be grateful for the redirection.
I agree with you, if I should break a rule because I do not have them memorized yet please remind me gently also. I will keep these rules on my desktop to refer to now and then if I am not sure of something. The one that is confusing is #9: Do not post content where your readers are required to go to an external website to "read more". All of the content must be self contained within the post itself.
I have seen links to outside stuff and it seemed ok. Can someone be more specific on this please.?
I think I understand this rule, although others are welcome to differ if they think I'm off:
You can't post an article fragment, and expect people to finish reading elsewhere with a redirection. Say all you have to say in the single post.
However, providing backlinks to ideas or news reports you've referenced within a complete text does not seem to test this rule.
Things to consider:
I like the way Mike Kearns respectfully offers up a reference link at the end of his WA posts sometimes, but cautiously advises it's only this. His article is complete (thanks for this example, Mike!).
I like this approach, but I don't know how it would look with more than one ref. For multiple references in a single post, I prefer in-text links, rather than a list. But being new, I don't know what best practice for such links on WA posts is yet.
What if for instance, one of the links Mike posts as supporting evidence in a WA post is to a blog he legitimately keeps as an authority on a topic, and it's just one more authoritative ref among others? It could be seen as promotional, even though in spirit it isn't.
I'm watching and trying to learn...!
I think that is a challenge for those who run Wealthy Affiliate.
If it is a common practice for ambassadors or others to do this,
then it is over to the management group to find a solution to
the problem.
It won't stop you achieving what you want in 2018.
If you keep giving this your attention it will take your focus
off your own goals.
I do understand how it could annoy people but the golden rule still applies.
What you focus on grows, so focus on your own success and that is what will magnify during the year ahead
Greg,
there are over 1.2 Million members since 2005 and at least a few thousand of those are active.
Unfortunately the owners can't police the entire platform and it is our duty, each and every one of us to help by sharing the rules with violators.
No matter how long the person has been a member or what rank the violator is, WA is a safe "Community"
I would much rather have no violations and not have to make corrections.
My daily prayer is all of our continued success!
Thank you Greg,
Tony
Same rules should apply to all! If I do break a rule is love a shout out as well. Not to harm; however to keep it a fair and level playing field for everyone!
Blessings
I know if I was doing something against the rules that I was unaware of I would like to be told. Unfortunately not everyone actually reads all the TOS so they won't know if they are breaking a rule.
So true Craig and the rules are right there available when posting a blog :)
Thank you my Friend,
Tony
Because it's such an important topic Grace!
My hope and prayer is that we can not only educate new members but also let members who have been here long enough that they know the rules but still break them read at least 1 of these posts!
Great question Grace and thank you for asking my Friend,
Tony
You do what you need to Tony! :)
Congrats on Super Affiliate by the way!! It's going to be a great year!
Unfortunately, as often as this is said, it still needs to be pointed out every so often.
I do usually send a PM and most of the time people are responsive, but other times they'll say "oh, thanks for letting me know!" and do nothing to change whatever the issue was.
Yes Craig and it's most times the members who do know better, in that case I click on the Spam Tab and also report them.
New members may not know the rules so it's our duty to share the rules with them, Friends who've been here much longer either know the rules and don't care or just too lazy to read them
Tony
Thanks for this post Tony.
I have no intention of breaking any rules and would appreciate a heads-up from a fellow WA member if I was doing something wrong.
Evidently all are not as appreciative.
You are welcome Joseph,
Over 2 years ago when I was new I broke the rules and lost my Write privileges then again not so long ago and both incidents were from far lesser offenses than I see on Wa daily.
WA for the most part is a great community and a Safe Haven, I would love for it to stay this way.
Tony

Even when you know the rules, it's easy to get side-tracked and make the mistake of posting something you shouldn't. When I was overzealous about writing a post, I accidentally did that. I very much appreciated a member sending me a private message about it and I quickly corrected my error. It was most definitely not intended, but could have cost me valuable privileges.
Thanks for posting this Tony.
All the best,
Sue
It's happened to me, too and someone was kind enough to send me a PM to show me the error of my ways.
That's a really sweet way to go about it.
