About Dashnow
Joined January 2016
It now 2+ years since I left corporate America. I Joined WA in hopes of gaining financial freedom. I still have dreams of starting an animal rescue for unwanted cats and starting a fund for senior citizens to help fund regular vet care for their animals. I used to work as a vet tech and learned many folks have to make the hard choice to euthanize their beloved pets because they do not have the money to treat them when they have ongoing health problems. So sad, so heartbreaking.

I am a Registered Nurse who was working for a major Health Insurance company. Working for someone else becomes a part of who many of us are. I have always wanted to control my day to day activities and now it is happening. Do I miss working there, yes and no?

Loved my co-workers, management not so much. However, my job as a nurse health coach for many years has helped me to learn how to communicate in a listening manner which is what you need to do to truly help others. I plan to use that in my communications within my Website. My niche is health-related naturally.

In my spare time, I love colored pencil drawing, gardening, nature and being in a quiet valley with no traffic noise, Cades Cove (in the Smokey Mountains) anyone? I practice yoga and meditation. Never thought I would desire a business like this, what a surprise I was to myself. I need all the help I can get as I am not a "techie" but want to be!

Hello Darleen,♫Welcome! I am so pleased you found WA. Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun at WA. Thank you for adding me to your network.

From the start, I have written training on every issue I had problems with myself. And I share all my interesting findings on my blog space. I have listed them on a blog for you. When you type in “Blogs top rated by Loes” into the search bar on top, you'll find my goodies under Training. I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please reply to this message or leave a comment on my profile.
Success building your business in 2019. See you around, Greetings Loes

Thank you for the nice response. I have a million questions but at the moment can't think what they are. I struggle mostly with the technical side of building a website. I am using the Astra theme and purchased the pro version. Trying to figure it out as I go.

Right now I am struggling with how do I put together a product review page. It is the visual side of getting it to look like what is in my head that drives me crazy. I have a post that describes what I am presenting (Why to use certain supplements for a condition I have). I want the viewer to jump to a product review page to make their purchase where I will place the affiliate links. Not sure this is the best way to do it. Not sure how much info to place in the ist post vs keeping most of the reason to purchase a product on the review page.

You need to make an anchor link, here is a training of me about this link, This is a code. You can place this into the text tab.
When you want to go easy, there is an anchor function in the plugin called "TinyMCE Advanced" by Andrew Ozz.
You will get a whole new series of tools with it, also tables.

I still work with the "old" editor, and not with the Gutenberg, and have disabled Gutenberg.

Yes, this pretty little bird visits my yard regularly in summer. they seem to love a flower called a cornflower, not to be confused with coneflower. It gets pretty pink flowers that look like little carnations. they seem to start coming once it goes to seed and they go to town eating them.

Thanks for the follow!! All the best to you, my friend.

BTW, I like your picture. I think its an American Goldfinch, the state bird of Washington. It's called the Western Goldfinch here.

It's also the state bird of New Jersey and Iowa, where it is known as the Eastern Goldfinch.

It is so great to meet you and your age doesn't matter to me.

I remember some of my best friends in college were 20 years older and had returned to school to change careers. We were all in it together and it didn't matter as long as you worked hard and respected each other.

Hi Dashnow, a very interesting bio to read about your interest in animal rescues, I understand your concern about helping, I have myself, rescues cats, six of them, and I adore them, but having an animal, It could be so expensive when you have to go to the vet, I never understood why they are charging so much,This doesn't help people who want to adopt animal.

Yes, it is expensive to go to the vet but we pay for the expertise. I started a savings account for my cats many years ago when I was working. I would put aside $100 a month and it has really grown over the years. I have needed to tap into it a few times when emergencies came up. Just recently I had to hospitalize one of my favorites for a very serious eye infection. She is fine now and to think I could not afford it would have killed me. I can no longer put that much aside so that is for sure one of my goals with the money I hope to earn here at WA. Good luck with your bunch, I am down to 3 now from 5. I will never go without one, I love them so.

Hi, I've heard of alternative therapies working for pets too, it would be a lot less expensive, though you would need to talk to someone experienced in it - some pets are closer to human metabolism than others. I see vets today taking an allopathic view to pet care almost providing them with the same sort of expensive routes they give humans, in one case I saw recently it was a protocol designed to milk the owner of her life savings with no return in quality of life for her cat at all. Btw there is a pet event running at the moment with high commissions, I've got a link to it somewhere that I'll have to dig out - PM me if you are interested...

Hi Paul. I just saw a comment of yours saying that you find it difficult to comment when you see obvious grammar mistakes... I can totally relate to that. I sometimes even don't do feedback on a site where there is so much wrong that I don't even know where to start. It would be difficult to sound upbeat and positive when there is so much to correct.

Anyway, that's why I came to look you up and follow you.
Best wishes,
~ Isabella

Yes, it is a problem. I just reviewed a site that had some good content but there were so many spelling and grammar errors it was hard to read. Perhaps the author forgot to run the post through spell check in Site Content. I find Site Content misses things sometimes so I often place my post in word and run it there also. I recently signed up for Grammarly from Google and it actually looks at your test in Site Content also. So now I have two places to check for errors. I have learned not to hit publish until I have walked away for a few hours and come back and re-read everything and usually, I will find something not right in the way I have expressed something. But I am a stickler for saying it correctly. Also, I tend to reverse letters a lot and do not catch it myself.

Oh, by the way, I am not Paul, I do not know why that sticks around. My actual name is Darleen but I am hiding out behind Dashnow for now. Eventually, I will change that, I have my reasons.

Sorry, I scrolled down to find your name. I was actually surprised to find 'Paul' since I had assumed, by looking at the finch, that you were female. So my instinct had been right. :-)

With lots of good wishes,
Isabella

Hello, Dashnow. Welcome to WA, and thanks for following me. You'll find that everyone is so friendly and willing to help you in any way they can. I am a retired occupational therapist, and, like you, not a techie at all, but people have been very patient and tolerant of my ignorance, and helped me through the rough spots. We are so very fortunate to have this wonderful community of people who are all working toward the same goal of making $ online. Love your pic of the goldfinch. I'm from Iowa originally, and that's our state bird. I live down south now and very rarely see one. Followed you back. Welcome to my network. Carol

Thanks for the reply. Am just at the start of my Web site and very confused to say the least and determined however to move forward once I am fully done with my job. I am soon to be a retired RN who has worked for a major Health Insurance company as a Health Coach. My niche is heath related. I am excited and have a million ideas in my head but have to figure out how to place them in a web site. Someday I'll get around to replacing my finch with a picture of myself. Talk at you again.

Sounds like a plan. Just read your profile and see you live near the Smokies. So beautiful there, my husband and I used to go there a lot as we loved to hike, but life got in the way and a disability now prevents me from the hiking however I do want to go back sometime for other reasons. I plan to be done with my job by the end of Feb so I can devote more time to WA. Keep on keeping on.

Dashnow! Good morning! Welcome aboard. Like you I am probably older then most in this wonderful WA Program. As I read your bio statement I smiled a bit as I too have been the corporate world for a long time; and am actually in the wind-down process so that I am able to dedicate 100% of my time to WA.

I like what you said about a quiet valley. I lived in such a place years ago in the White Mountains area in New Hampshire.

I am not yet ready to lend advice to you as I am only aboard a few weeks myself. However, perhaps, along the way we may 'bump into each other.'

Just read this today. Thanks for the kind words. I am nearly cut loose from my job. Should be done in about a month so I will be able to devote my time to this this business. So excited and scared at the same time. I have my niche already and just picked my web site and now time to get to the nitty gritty of putting it together. So lost at this point but determined to figure it all out. There is a valley in the Shannondoah Mountains called Cades Cove that fits the bill for my valley to sit in. Have not been there for a while but can't wait to get back there.

I've lived in the Smokies for about 20 years, and the only bear I've seen was at Cades Cove. I have to be careful not to put garbage, birdseed, or anything else that will attract bears on my porch.
