Does anyone use a plugin to compress images, use jpeg, and serve them in WebP format?

Hey Joe,

All I can tell you is "don't waste your time and website resources".

A few years ago now, I changed my entire business blog to only use the WEBP format for images and I regret having wasted my time.

Turned out that MOST social media accounts STILL do not recognize the WEBP format.

What you could do is simply make sure your images are EXACTLY the size you need for your posts/pages and manually compress them using TinyJPG.com and then with the Kraken plugin (or comparable) installed on your website, upload your images.

This way, you'll have optimized your images for quicker loading to the max.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Trish...will give that a try!

Hi Joe
I used to convert them on my computer before uploading, but nowadays I use Optimole plugin, which is free for up to 1000 visitors per month. easy to use and does far more than just convert to the best image type (on the fly).

Thanks Richard! Looks like I have multiple options to check out--when it rains, it pours! :-)

I use Imagify, too, but I believe you need the paid version to convert to WebP.

Loaded the free version to a test site--optimized and converted two images to WebP successfuly.

Excellent, Joe! 👍😎

Thanks, Abie! I saw Imagify--it's not on the WA No-N0 list for plugins, just wondering if anyone is using it, or any others...thanks again, and have a great week!

i host elsewhere :)

Thanks for the update. You too :)

See image - Smush may be good :)

Oops! Well, have a great week anyway! :-)

I added another comment.

Was just looking at it--thanks!

Wonderful : )

Also, talk to site support and ask them if you can use Imagify.

Hey Joe,

Yep, I use Imagify on externally hosted sites too.

If you do add Imagify to a WA-Hosted website it will INITIALLY not work.

You need to reach out to SiteSupport and ask them to provide write access to Imagify.

Once they have done that and confirmed, it will work absolutely fine on a WA-Hosted website.

Let us know what you managed. Thanks :)

Will do--working on it now...

Fabulous... And all the best.
