Hello all, currently, I found a website which provides free header image. Plus, the website says it would be appreciated greatly if I link their site into my wordpress. How do I li

What I normally do is after I've research on an authoritative site, copy it's url by highlighting and right click the mouse. next, I write my post, Where appropriate, I will then highlight the word I wanna link, click on the 'chain symbol' there will be a bar to paste the url. After you've updated your post, be sure to check that the link works. Now I've also just learned to tick the 'open in a new window' box so that your page remains with the reader while he views the authoritative site.

Do it in the usual way as you do with links, you must be familiar with this already. When you mention a subject in your text you add the link where appropriate. No much work.

Cheers. Yes, I should be aware of that as I did go through to the course. Thank you.

Thanks for asking Tarmizzy:)!

No problem Loes. I guess this benefits for everyone, not just me.

This should help you.

Thanks Tommy. Cheers!

I've not ticked the open in a new window checkbox... Thanks for highlighting that.

Personally I wouldn't link them. You chance traffic leaving your site to go to their site and you don't know much about their site or how "legit" it is.

I think you would add their link to a page or post in your site just as you would any other link. You could use a banner (if they have one) or just a text link telling folks where they can go to find whatever it is that this company does.

ROCK ON!
E

Thanks E. Appreciate it.

You're welcome

Hello all, I am just wondering, I'm unsure whether its ok to extract images from a random website uploaded on my site? Any solution to tackle this issue?

Hi Zi,

It is definitely not OK to just extract images from other websites and paste them in your site.
I am not a lawyer and I cannot give you a professional advise, but generally images and photos are copyrighted. I mean the one who took them owns the right to use them and you cannot use a photo without the permission of the person who owns it.
It leaves you with three choices:
1. To take your own pictures for using in your website.
2. Buy images for using in your site. There are many places where you can buy images for 1-3 $ each. Then you get the right to present them in your website (yet not to resell them). For example you can try: http://www.canstockphoto.com/ (if you buy credits then the price per picture goes down).
3. To get pictures from websites that shares free photos under an open license. In those cases you should carefully read the license for each photo you want as different pictures are licensed differently there. In most cases you will have to attribute the photo to the owner in your website and even have a link to the license page itself. Such websites are Wikimedia (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page) or Flickr Creative Common (https://www.flickr.com/creativecommons/).

There is a training session by Kyle explaining and demonstrating all of those options. Look for it.

Again, I am not an expert here so you might want a more professional advise, but just be aware of all of those issues. Ignoring it may get you into troubles.

Thanks Orena, much appreciated.

I'm facing a dilemma here as to whether I should opt automatically or not on the purchase renewal? Suggestion?

They will remind you when it's time to renew if you choose to turn off the auto renewal.

Thanks all, I've made my decision to renew just to be safe.

TJ,

I guess it all depends on how you manage everything. If you can remember to go back a year later and renew it before it expires then I would not worry about it. However, if you live a busy life just like a lot of us do, then chances are you will forget to renew it and risk losing the name.

I would set it to renew on it's own if you can afford it and if it is a inexpensive domain name. If it is a premium name i would do whatever it takes to keep it so you can sell it later on if you wish.

You'll get a ton of emails the month before it expires so you won't forget if you decide to renew it.

I never auto renew that way i have the control if i want to keep it or not.
