I have recently discovered the Site Rank feature of Jaaxy.

I have performed several searches for my keywords and was quite surprised by the results. I mean some posts that

There is much more to SEO than just using a low competition keyword. It is good that it is your post title and in the first paragraph, but more is needed.

I suggest you re-write your first paragraph and place your keyword within the first 140 character spaces of the paragraph so that it appears in your description, see #2 below.

1) Your content needs to be well written in a natural, personal, and engaging tone. Remember, forget about the search engines and write your content for the readers, answer all of the questions they may have.

2) Make sure your Meta Description is compelling. The second most important feature of the search result after the post title is the Meta Description. If you can create it with the keyword within the first 140 character spaces, that's even better. It could be similar to the following, which is 137 character spaces.

So far I have covered English, American and Dijon mustard from France. Now it is time to head on over to Germany. What is German Mustard?

3) Interlink to and from your post to relevant content within your website. Interlinking will help to boost your rank, as long as they are relevant content you are linking to.

4) This particular post is not Categorized. All posts should be categorized.

5) You need engagement for Google to say, OK, people like this post. This is why Kyle tells us to share our content and ask the community for relevant comments.

6) Just keep adding content. Not every post we make will rank highly, even if we use a low competition keyword. A lot has to do with how the above 5 points are performed. And in regards to #5, you should also share your content on social media.

7) Change your author name from Admin to your name. Google wants to know who the authors are of website content. Admin is not an acceptable name as it is only a placeholder. If Google cannot identify who the author is, and your readers will want to know too, then this hurts your rankings too.

Excellent advice boomer. Google is not the audience. Think about how to help others as you write, and it will show in your writing

Exactly!

Hi Robert,

Thank you so much for your thorough reply.
Points 4 and 7 are misses that are easy to fix. (Fixed already). I will be more careful about it from now on.
I know social media is not my best side. I will try more on that aspect.

I was not aware to the interlinking issue. I will take it into account now when I write new posts and specifically I will add some in this specific post.

Now excuse me for what may be a newbie question, but what is exactly Meta Description?

Thank you again! You already helped me a lot.

Point # 4 why is that necessary?

The Meta Description is the snippet off text that appears under the post title in search results. It is the text that induces CTR (Click Trough Rate). When people read it in the search results, it should compelling enough for people to want to click on your link.

Unlike you page and post titles which should never be changed once they have been published, your Meta Description can be changed over and over again until you find one that works best for your post. My post on Meta Description explains it best.

#4 is important because it contributes to a better user experience (UX). And as you should know, in order to have good SEO you must also have a good UX.

Thanks Boomer. Puts a few things in perspective

You're welcome

Thanks a lot. It is now clear. Your answer was very educational for me.

Thanks Robert, a very informative and useful reply! I'm in the process of building my site and will take all these great tips in mind!

You are welcome. Happy to help.

Sometimes, it just takes a little bit of time for your post or page to get "well established". Google will look at your post and think, "hmm, a newbie...I'm not sure if this is relevant though...let's wait and see." One thing you can do to help improve your rankings (among the many things) is as you create more posts, if any of them are relevant to the previous post, interlink them. Google likes that kind of thing.

I do understand the time issue and the "aging" process of the post and the website. But still what I do not understand is why other post on my website that are even newer than that one, got higher ranking already despite not using as good keywords as this one.
I mean I probably did something good in other posts or something bad in this post, but I just can figure out what it is, and what caused Google to like one post more than the other, besides the keywords.
Thanks.

you know I wouldn't spend a lot of time trying to understand it. Maybe keep writing content to keep the momentum going?

I keep writing. Just want to do it the right way.

I agree, that is a great keyword. I have been here for four months and although I have ranking, I am certainly not on the first pages yet. This takes time. In about 5 weeks I hope to reach a total of 50 pages/posts. At that time I can expect significant increases in ranking.

I know it takes time. And this page is already there from December. Other posts are ranked higher, while this one I thought had a better potential.

Well as boomergp08 and pbar mentioned, it really depends on A LOT of factors...one of the biggest factors being how many people "uses" Google to see your page, and the bounce rate in which that particular landing page has. It may be true that this particular post does have more potential than the others. However, Google doesn't know that yet, and that "may" be simply because many people haven't visited that page for whatever reason.

Remember when you do your keyword research, those particular visits a month, should be a range, an average, or have some sort of epsilon associated with it, meaning that those numbers aren't exact (which I know you know this). That could possibly mean that a low hanging fruit keyword, say for example, that has 200 searches a month on "average" may not be doing as well in other months.

For example, say you did research on a low hanging fruit keyword, something like "how to make money online without investment" and you saw that this gets about 400 searches a month. Which month would you expect to see an increase of searches, October, or February? Most likely October since everyone gets their taxes in February!

I fall in this trap too sometimes, but just remember it's gonna take more than a couple of months "sometimes" to get that post well established, so down the road you'll see exactly where your post lies in the Google Search Engine, and as you continue putting up other posts and learning more here in Wealthy Affiliate, you may catch a mistake that you made that could be fixed causing your post to get a better ranking.

Thanks for your insight.

I am trying to use the Site Feedback feature of the new Site Rubix.

I have successfully got a fast reply for my first site feedback request.

Hi there! Personally, I think there are very few people who make use of this feature! Most of us just get comments and feedback on the post created on WA itself - nothing to do with your site so don't worry :) Remember - the key to your "site health" is CONTENT! Don't worry about getting the health of your site to full health - as long as you reply tp all comments, create good content and post it regularly and have your plug-ins sorted - then so is your site! Merry Christmas

Thanks. I will ask for feedback on that post.
