Reverse the process. It may be that the plugin is changing the way wordpress shows it. It may be showing it as a post instead of page which removes the page. Try that and see what happens.

I completely understand that Google is not a reliable keyword search tool, but why am I not even close to what the WA search tells me I should be. I understand that a google se
No you are not competing with millions. To see exact number, go to the actual last page which Google gives you on the bottom of the screen. You will see that there are far less competing sites for the case without quotes. But it is true that the number is far bigger than what KT gives; competition for exact phrase is just an indicator with little practical meaning. Reality is that you compete with any combination of words form your key-phrase, in any order.
So this was asked by another member not long ago and a really great conversation started (Kyle even chimed in). I will try to find it for you but here are some of the things I took away from that:
1) BeauAndNik is right about the quotation marks and sites with exact wording
2) It doesn't matter if your site has that exact wording if Google doesn't trust you yet and your site is still young. That's why despite low competition you are still competing with other sites with similar phrases until you get your site to rank better
3) Using the keyword search tool in WA is great BUT Google knows it's you. They use cookies, your Google profile, search histories, etc to show you what they think you want to see. I am always on page 1 in Google when I search myself. To avoid this, you need to search your site or competition using an Incognito Search Browser Window or Jaxxy.
Ranking will come the more trust your site gains. A good site you can use to check what page you are on is - https://www.searchenginegenie.com/google-rank-checker.html
Sorry this was so long but I hope it helps.
When you put a search with quotation marks you are searching google for sites / articles that have that EXACT WORDING.
When someone does a regular search google is including all articles and sites that have exact and similar wording.
This is why so many other sites appear in the search excluding quotation marks.
The reason why we do the quotation mark research is to see our exact competition for that exact phrase
Thanks BeauAndNik I perfectly get that but if a WA keyword search only shows 30 competitors that is of little use if Google puts me and my competitors in the mix with 3,000,000 others. How will I ever find my way to the top?
There are several ranking factors to be honest. I gauge this by what site takes positions 1 - 3.. I look at these sites and see if they are affiliate sites. If they are, or the page 1 results are filled with forums, facebook etc then i know i have a good chance
So even though WA Keyword tool reports 30 competitors I am still competing with over 3,000,000 other sites for that same "relevant: subject matter. Only 30 competitors with that "exact" keyword? So I still have to crawl my way through the others if I am going to rank?

Multiple keyword phrases returned huge differences between WA and Jaxxy vs Google. Example; WA showed 7 competitors, Jaxxy showed 29 competitors, Google showing 117,000 competi
Easy solution. Do Not Use Google! Google is a search engine for links and not a keyword research tool. Google search will always add all relevant results and not display the actual keyword results.
Even if you were to do it the correct way by using " " and clicking through to the bottom of the last page, even those results would not be 100% accurate. This is why we use keyword research tools. They are more accurate and save time and confusion.
It means you are getting inflated results. Google shows you relevant results even if it is not what you searched. Either use the WA keyword tool or use Jaaxy, but definitely not Google.
If you go to the actual last page in the list which Google gives, you will see it is the same as the result from KT. I have tested this many times, there are no differences except of accidental fluctuations due to Internet.
I have used Jaaxy only temporary and my experience is that its QSR is the same as competition from KT, no essential differences.
No, you are not doing anything wrong so to speak.
I can help with the Google side of the question.
Google is not a keyword tool and to get proper numbers to return are difficult. They require using quotes and going to the last page of search results to see the proper numbers.
Jaaxy and the WA keyword tool are actually brothers, as they were both created here at WA by the owners.
I am not familiar enough with Jaxxy to comment on that except to offer this, make sure you are comparing the correct numbers
maybe?
Are you saying the "results" shown by Google on the first page do not reflect the amount of competition I am up against?
Exactly. To get that number wrap the phrase in quotations, then go to the last page of the google search results and scroll down to the bottom and you will find your true competition numbers
LOL, that is why I say it is not a very efficient keyword tool. I am lucky, a member here made me a program that does it automatically, which is a huge time saver
He has since lost the program, lol
Finding High Traffic Keywords LIVE! Here is a great training to show the power of both.
I personally use Jaaxy but, plenty of members use the WA keyword tool with success as well...it just takes a bit longer : )
I was more concerned about the huge difference in actual search results vs those reported by both WA and Jaxxy.
