I have a solution to the two website stretch!
How can we find time to create a second website?
I really feel like I want to start my human health website finally (it was my original dream when I signed up with WA almost 2 years ago). However, I have always been highly concerned about spreading myself too thin. Many wise members here recommend sticking with one site and doing it well before even considering a second site.
It is very hard to do one site well when you already work another full-time job and have other commitments. My site just limps along sometimes though I do make some sales and I can't complain. I know I don't have twice as much time to spend on sites now.
So, how can I possibly have time to run a second website?
I have been on the fence about this for a long time but always pushed it back thinking I just needed to stop thinking about having another site. Then recently I made some real breakthroughs on finding solutions for auto-immune caused inflammation. I am so excited about this and want to share it. I have also had the opportunity and been asked by a number of people for advice since they have serious inflammation related conditions and are desperate for answers. I wrote about this last night but now today I get home and have two different messages waiting for me on Facebook from friends asking for advice. One for bursitis and one for auto-immune inflammation. I am explaining what I have found over and over to so many people. It would be so much more logical and efficient to have it written down somewhere where people could access it.
So, once again, how can I get time for a second site! It is in demand and I want to share the information so how will I have enough time? One of the friends (my husband's co-workers wife) asked to meet with me to "pick my brain". This is someone I have only met twice before.
I finally figured out how to do it!
I have read that it is a good idea for websites to "age". Even if you aren't doing much on a site, it will help Google ranking to have it "age" for a year. So, I could buy a domain and have it "age" even if I don't have time to treat it like a full business yet. While it is "aging", I can add content as I learn new things. It will be like an online journal where I can keep posts about each of these topics (different nutrients, different health problems, etc.).
I won't feel pressured to make it a popular site or promote it much but it will get started and eventually I will have some good content there. Then when I am ready, I will have a massive head start! It will already be built. The key is to view it as my own personal journal for now (I can still pick good keywords etc) but everything doesn't have to be focused on rankings. If I don't have to worry about social media promotion, building and maintaining a subscriber list, getting comments etc. it shouldn't take so much time. The problem with my cat health site is not that I can't write new posts, it is because I run out of items to review since I only review products I use. I have much more to write about for the human health site since I have been researching it for years now. With no problems finding content and no pressure to promote and worry about rankings it should be manageable.
I hope it works....now I just need to figure out how to fit in the work from home site I was already starting recently!!!
Thank you everyone for your encouragement and good wishes!
Jessica

Wow, that is a good idea and I'm already doing something like that for my second website. I haven't worked on it very much, but it is there and content is added once in a great while. My second website targets/promotes Wealthy Affiliate, but I have a long ways to go before I complete the affiliate bootcamp. My ultimate goal is to eventually have 3 money making websites, but the 3rd will be a long ways off.
I want to get my current 2 producing income on a regular basis so that I can get do what I'm most passionate about more than anything else and it will enable me to create a good amount of content for the 3rd website. That's way on down the road though, but it is definitely a long term goal.
Yes, I want to have 3 also. I already started on that one actually but didn't buy a domain. I just started a free site here. I really don't know how I will have time to juggle three though!
Yeah, finding the time to juggle all 3 will definitely be a struggle. If I can get the first 2 down, eventually 3 might be doable.
Please "go for it" Jessica!
Your first site has succeeded - you have earned!
I never let anyone tell me what to do....I started out with two sites and linked them back and forth to each other....it worked beautifully!
Do things outside the box!
These websites are "long-term-earners"...you are correct to get the Health Site ranked in Google and create your passion!
Don't worry about perfection!
This second site will come together much more quickly than the first and you likely have many more SEO techniques under your belt!
Best of the Season To You & Yours!

Thanks Barb. I think since one is pet health and one is human health I could link them easily. That has always been my goal. I am glad to hear it worked for you.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Jessica
Absolutely - it will work beautifully!

Hi, Jessica. Sounds like a good plan. As I was reading your post, I was thinking you were going to let the cat health site "age" and go full steam ahead with the new one. Using it like a journal so you have your content down, but not the stress of doing it full time sounds like a good compromise. Carol
I think you have a great idea. WA is built around making an online income as quickly as possible. So the training is geared towards that - as it should be.
However, those of us who do work full-time can only accomplish half as much, so the income stream might take longer. Aging domains do get preferential treatment with the search engines, especially if there is evergreen content in an a popular niche like health.
You might be surprised after you build it that you get twice as much traffic as someone with double the content. Because you are writing about a very in demand topic. And people will follow you even if you can only write one blog post a month.
Go for it! :-)
Yes, maybe it will be popular and do well. There is a ton of demand in this field now but there is also a lot of competition if I am targeting the keywords like "inflammation". I can at least get it written down though. With the skills we learn here for SEO I think I can do well though and find keywords that will still succeed.
I have few websites that I am doing exactly that with. I don't worry about rankings, etc but they allow me a place to put my ideas, thoughts, and content down when the topic has my attention.
A domain name doesn't cost very much, so there isn't much to lose.
I hope this strategy works out well for both of us. I hope you have a great week.
Yes, it seems to be a logical way to proceed. Thanks Sondra! I hope it works well for you too.
Hi Jessica
I have 2 sites that I actively work on but I also have 2 others in the 'background' that I have created pages for as a structure which I'm developing as an extremely long term project as I intend to give them over to my daughters when they are old enough. I think it's a great idea to do this and hopefully in time, with adding a little bit here and there they will tick over on their own until I have the time to devote to them properly. As you say, there is no pressure to monetize them at the moment, but add content as the muse takes me. Great idea and thank you for sharing.
All the best. Gail
10 and 11 so I figure I have a few years yet! But they know what i'm doing and I'm showing them my posts.
It's probably just a bit selfish as I'm hoping it will help pay their way through further education.
I don't think its selfish, I think it is incredibly smart! You would be giving them a way to earn money and have a huge head start in life! A real skill that can support them is the best thing you could give them! Good for you! Unless of course they have no interest in it...then you might have a problem!
Thanks. I don't think lack of interest will be a problem. The oldest one is already planning her youtube channel! :)
You sound like you have found a solution to your time restraints. Having the site will definitely save you time as you can point people there instead of answering them personally.
I will definitely be interested in reading as I have an auto immune disease myself. So please let me know when it is up and running.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen
Thanks Karen! It will take time. I don't know how long exactly. Let me know if you have any specific questions or comments in the meantime!
Jessica
Hey don't give up your time. As much as I would like to pick your brain..... you have a new website to build. X
Ha ha! Thanks Karen. I got my first request for a face to face meeting yesterday...this seems to be organically growing all on it's own.
Progress Jessica, it is a hard one we all only have so much time, and it looks like you have a solution worked out all the best I think that it is exciting and that your health site will have a waiting audience, folks seem to be searching for ways to help their health.
Yes, I have had discussions with people in regard to allergies, inflammation, fatigue and so many other problems.
Thank you Alex!!

Just a suggestion for you - do the basic pages for the site you want to age. Write text for the home page, add an about us page, terms & conditions and privacy policy. Perhaps one blog post as well. Then Google will consider it an actual site, even if it is skinny, and will give it credit for aging.
Yes, I will! I bought the domain last night!
