I followed Jay's Pinterest training and thought I would just try putting a Pinterest Ad for the recent WA final promotion.

To avoid all the make money online and affiliate marketing issues, my pin was about the best value WordPress hosting.

Pinterest Disapproved

This is what they say in the disapproval email.

We don't allow ads that promote the following products, services or business models:

  • Penny or bidding fee auctions
  • Payday loans
  • Plaintiff recruitment services
  • Financial services that facilitate the purchase or trade of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
  • Services that promise large financial returns for minimal investment or effort, such as multilevel marketing models or get-rich-quick opportunities
  • Companies that offer homework or essay writing services for students (Tutoring services are OK)
  • Products or services that make unrealistic or exaggerated claims

We expect our advertisers to be honest with their customers and set clear expectations about product quality, delivery times, return processes, and services provided. We reserve the right to reject an advertiser based on poor third-party ratings or a record of complaints.

All Comments Welcome

The pin posted above. Let me know your thoughts on why was it disapproved.

Hopefully, we can learn something from this and save our time and effort so we can stop barking up the wrong tree.

The question and the following answers on this thread are great Stanley. Thank you for sharing. I am at the starting point with social media on my site and this is essential information to me as well as all others in our line of business.
As you have stated in one of your earlier blog posts "words are powerful", so be careful how you use them.

- Roy -

That is right, Roy. Words are powerful, but they are accepted differently by different. The same word is an opportunity to the marketer but a threat in this case to the platform. I am happy with the great replies.

For me the Ad itself looks ok .. it is not in your face or pushy.. it simply states facts..

However..

Your Domain name IncomeSiteBuilder.. at the bottom of the pin

There is a chance this is what they did not like... Building Income...

I might be wrong.. but that is my first instinct as to your disapproval!

Chris

Thanks for your feedback. So, would you change the domain name?

Erm .. Not Really no ... in all honesty.. maybe just do not list it on the pin itself...

Anyways the pin will lead to the URL on your site you want it to lead to should a Pinterest User do a Click Through .. so maybe try again with the same pin .. but just delete the URL off the bottom.

Of course I am not 100% it is the answer.. but worth a try.. it might work!

Chris

That was the first thing I noticed after reading their guidelines and seeing the pin.

Thanks, Chris. Will try various options.

I had the same problem Stanley. For my word art business, no problem at all.
For affiliate marketing, a problem every time.It was having a more basic/generic picture that did it.
Then I kept readjusting the wording until it was accepted. They don't seem to like wording that states 'best' or says 'Free' in big bold letters.
You just have to tone it down more until they say yes. It's very frustrating but it's a great platform and stuff gets seen, so definitely worth the effort.

Thanks for the feedback. Tone it down and make it small. I can understand you want to err on the side of caution but if I am going to give something Free and that is the honest intent, how else can I say free? 🧐

"No cost"?

You can put free but in the explanation.
My advert for the offer said this:

"Join for Free. Have a look around. Try out the training and build a basic website. If you love it, check out the offer that's available until 11th May 2020. Limited Time Offer on Wealthy Affiliate Yearly Plan."

I had to rewrite it several times before it was accepted and the picture just had 'SALE' on it.

You can't overtly sell affiliate links/websites etc

Hope this helps.

Take out the best to replace it with learning or learn.

Hosting included.

Ideal for new online entrepreneurs.

I guess we have to be above board and not make misleading or unqualified statements. That can be easier said than done. You almost feel like running the ad creation gauntlet is down to luck of the draw.

Copywriting can be hard to wrap our heads around, especially when it comes to writing ads that will pass the scrutiny of the platforms that we are advertising on. They can be quite exacting and seem to have a loathing of anything to do with the MMO niche or the work from home niche.

Which is kind of crazy given the current state of affairs many unemployed and many more working from home?

I sympathize with you Stanley because try as we may at times it is just downright frustrating.
Alex

You are right, Alex. Copywriting is not easy but copy the writing of others is easy. However, looks like it did not work following what other pins do. 😖

Hi Stanley
I found it almost impossible to get ads approved on Pinterest for anything to do with MMO. Facebook is a bit easier to get approval but in both you need to be careful with your wording. If it has even a hint of “get rich” it will be rejected.

Cheers
Dave🙂

Thanks. Looks like it got rejected even without that. I guess algorithm got more words now.
