Just Who Do Kyle And Carson Think They Are?
I am guessing that if you are reading this, you were intrigued by the title.
So today, I would like to talk about the importance of using powerful, enticing and captivating titles to get your content read.
And if you are Kyle or Carson, welcome, and sorry, but there's no dirt to dig on you here!
Just a quick lesson, on the power of great titles and headlines, which (hopefully!) the community may enjoy, and find useful.
So to get started, I am going to create a hypothetical situation.
Meet Bob
Bob is a Wealthy Affiliate member who has been lovingly building a dog training website.
He works hard on his site, he is highly passionate about dog training, and publishes an informative and entertaining article which offers first class tips, on various ways to train your dog.
He follows and absorbs all of the lessons and guides here at WA, and soon his web page is climbing Google, and within a few weeks he hits the #1 spot
Well done Bob!
Over at Google, Bobs site title reads:
Bobs Dog Training Tips
Visit here to get the best Dog Training Tips, as well as information and advice about general Dog Training.
Hmmmm
Now chasing Bobs tail (No pun intended..) and in the #2 spot at Google is Jimmy.
Lets Meet Jimmy
Jimmy is a guy who likes to make a quick buck. He knows about internet marketing, and how to rank a web page.
He knows nothing about dog training, but he has researched and found that 'Dog Training Tips' is keyword he thinks he can rank for, so he scrapes some content from the web, adds some YouTube dog training videos and a sidebar full of Clickbank affiliate banners.
He builds a few backlinks to his page, and gets to work on his page title
It reads...
7 Dog Training Tips That You Have To See To Believe
Discover the easiest and most powerful dog training tips, that only professional dog trainers know. Your dog will be obeying your commands within 7 days or less.
I don't know about you, but I would think that Jimmys title and description would out perform Bobs, and yet Bob is the expert here, and he is the one with the true wealth of knowledge.
It won't last
Now in the long run, Jimmys website is going to start falling down the rankings, as he has thin content, and no substance. He will have a high bounce rate, as the visitor quickly leaves his site, but that does not bother Jimmy, as he has earned a few dollars from his affiliate links, and is already working on his next web page.
Now, lets turn this on its head for a minute.
Let take Bobs Headline and Title and replace it with Jimmy's
The visitor sees the same captivating title and description, they click on the link, and they are presented with Bobs beautifully displayed web page.
Its entertaining, well written informative, and the visitor is learning some awesome tips, which will help them train their dog.
They are so impressed, that they subscribe to Bobs newsletter as they like Bob and would like more information.
This will now allow Bob to communicate with them personally, and build trust. He will then have a long term customer who will likely purchase products that he recommends.
Now Bob is #1 in Google, getting new visitors by the hat full, building his list quickly, and earning money - all because he wrote a great headline, description, and backed it up with some awesome content.
So once again Well done Bob - you deserve it!
I know its a hypothetical example, but hopefully you can see the point that I am trying to get across, that you can have the best information in the world, but if nobody clicks through on your links, it will not be read, and building your business will be a slow and painful process.
Writing great headlines and titles, are crucial to getting your content read.
Of course you need to back it up with quality content - thats a no-brainer.
Just head over to Buzzfeed.com and take a look at the titles they are using over there - 100's of articles, with arguably the best titles and headlines that you will see anywhere on the web, or anywhere else for that matter.
You can get some great ideas for your own titles at Buzzfeed - just take the idea, and then make it unique and original, and don't forget - keep your titles to 55 characters or less for the search engines

Awesome tool...Thanks!! I like the idea of using captivating titles but, I would think it is still important to research your title as it pertains to keywords. If your title is catchy but, doesn't rank well in the search engines, then it won't help you. Am I right about that or do you have another way to get unique titles ranked in the search engines? Good Luck!
Hey Frankie. You most certainly should include your keyword in your title.
The title should include your exact keyword, (Earlier the better) and should be no longer than 55 characters in length, its a skill that takes time and practice.
If you check my examples above the keyword used was 'Dog Training Tips'.
Thanks for commenting, and wishing you massive success
