Very sad and disheartened

I received an email today from Google Adsense that they are not approving my site because it does not comply with the Google Adsense Program policies or Webmaster Qualtiy guidelines. It goes on to say that it is important for sites displaying Google ads to offer significant value to the user. As a publisher I must provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit my site first. Also I am not to place ads on auto-generated pages or pages with little to no original content. And finally, that my site should provide a good user experience through clear navigation and organization with users being able to easily click through my pages and find the information they're seeking.
I really thought my site had good useful information. I've been told that I need to add categories to my site but I've read all the post on them and I don't understand what they are and how to set them up, I've tried and I can't seem to get them to work.
I'm very sad and frustrated and don't know what to do to fix the problems that I seem to have.I don't want to give up but I'm clueless about how to fix things.
Thanks for letting me vent.
Nancy
