My first $700 commission, first $2000 week

Last Update: December 04, 2018

I've seen people do these sort of blogs in my time here at WA, they always inspired me but also seemed so far away from where I was and I wondered how on earth they did it and if I ever could. Were they all experts at some complicated marketing, did they have fancy skills with their site, were they paying for premium themes and gadgets, or is it just a 'them and us'?

As it turns out there's many ways to do this online, and the only one common denominator is:

  • To keep plodding along in the right direction with the right foundation that you get here to set up your website
  • And regarding niche be yourself and use your full skillset.

Where are you in the journey to generating income?

1. Mindset - did you know that people can block money?!

Map: do you know where you are going and are you in the right frame of mind to get there? And if you got there would you hold onto it, or be like the lottery winners who lose their money inside two years because it is not a subconscious 'known' to them...

* My secret weapon here is Mental Bank free video on youtube by George Kappas of hypnosis. edu

2. Habit

Consistency: plodding along, whether high speed or like me screeching along with the handbrakes still on, we all end up at our destination if we just keep going.

*There are many tools you can use to create habits, eg the Mental Bank, or SiteContent goal setting, self hypnosis, journaling.

3. Foundation

Skills & Training: I've deliberately divided this into two, because as affiliate marketers we need to know TWO things:

  1. How to run a website
  2. Niche mastery

1. Setting up and running a website is absolutely nailed by WA, they make it totally easy for newbies and they are extremely low maintenance, when we've got questions the community here helps out real fast too.

2. As for niche mastery, obviously there are steps to mastery and you need a solid foundation there too whatever niche you choose.

Yes writing is communicating, but you still need something to communicate whether it is something small or big. Feed your knowledge and thoughts. You can't just buy a karate black belt and wear it, well you can but who'd you be kidding, you need to work your way up HOWEVER you can earn every step of the way AND maybe you don't have any desire to be a black belt at all, maybe mastery of the level 1 white belt in your niche is as far as you want to go but we are still talking 'mastery' of whatever level you choose. When it comes to communication and content I like to take it up a notch and say:

People need to have something to communicate, and know what they are saying

Basically isn't it fair enough to expect you to have something to say, ideally resources outside of regurgitating half assed facts from wiki and top ranking websites who may only be top because of clever SEO or advertising dollars and not necessarily merit or value.

Of course it may depend on your niche, it may depend on your dedication to your niche - it is easy to hire people to write, to copy, whatever, but ultimately you get out of it what you put in both in terms of dollars, enjoyment, impact and contribution. In my niche, those big sales sometimes carry very tough questions with them and at times responsibility. But there's plenty of smaller sales to attract too.

Method & Results

So I've been writing blogs here all along on creating quality original content, on using good resources, on helping your audience, and this blog today is showing you the outcome of my focus on knowledge and original sources, doing courses and never copying. The title of this blog follows a progressive sequence now that I look back over the year.

It surprises me I got this result focused more on knowing my niche than even building out my website. I'm still learning lots of things myself both about websites, marketing, and conquering and keeping up with my niche. I also have life issues that tend to take over, like with so many people in here, but I do keep plodding along.

Niche Mastery + Marketing = $$$ More Dollars!!

My experience is when you are really passionate and knowledgeable about your niche then very targeted people tend to find you - even without a large content output, without fancy SEO, without all the usual marketing extras and tweaks

However master the training here at WA and combine it with niche mastery and those two things together will make way more than any one of them by themselves.

Ideally I'd like to be a black belt in both my niche and the website/marketing end of things - currently I'm stronger in my niche, whereas many people in here are stronger in marketing, and then many other people don't seem to realize there are two belts. So whatever level / colored belt you choose to master in your niche or in marketing at least get off the ground in your niche ;)

Mary

Update: please notice the featured image says 'study', and stop asking to see my site as I've already told you I'm an expert in my niche and all I have is the basic training, free theme, kyle's basic advice...it is expertise that speaks in my niche, not copying - all my blogs say Do Not Copy, so please don't ask to copy me, be yourself

Thanks, Mary, your post is definitely a winner. Eventually, we will get there but we have to keep going. We need to learn every day and improve from our mistakes. WA makes it easier for us but in the end, we have to do the work or nothing will happen. Great post!

This blog was very helpful. I am ideally at the split between novice in one website and wanting to master another completely different website which I just bought a domain for.

Question: I have a basic wix site for starting off and the niche is real popular and I do believe I will have a little success as soon as I complete content, however I bought a domain that means more to me and literally what I ultimately want to give more time to. the niche on my wix site is completely different for my domain (.com) so would it be a good idea to still generate money with the wix site? Is it even possible to generate money from a basic wix site? Is it a good idea to use wix site for practice then move on to real domain when I have more experience?

Hi Kira, these would be great questions to ask on the dashboard and get a collection of opinions on.

I'm hearing you say you are a novice in one and basically a novice in the other at this point too, the successful people in here usually say master one thing at a time before moving onto another as they take a lot of time and you could be dividing your efforts

I like what you said about playing around with one of them for practice - the one you think is popular and you can make money in does sound like a good idea but why wix when wordpress is better? You've got to ask some serious questions about if it actually succeeded, it would be very hard to move it over to a wp site

- try the search bar on wix to gather other people's experience with it

Love your success here Mary! Congratulations! That's a big week!!

You are right about knowing your niche is very important and know the type of audience. Even for people doing Bootcamp sites, the audience is very different from someone who does surveys vs someone looking for mmo opportunities vs someone searching for affiliate marketing.

You're doing great here and excellent to see! I wish you continued success!!

Hi Mary, I get where you're coming from with the mental aspect of making money. One's state of being has everything to do with creating success in life i go as far saying that the top successes in life commit to some Kind consciousness cleansing or tuning which allows them to remain on track creating successes day in day out. however i think these subject is taboo and not often discussed. thanks for the post..

yes, our top athletes do self hypnosis every day to keep focused and especially before an event - at best these days we have 'midnfulness' coming in as a popular trend - but those athletes are making it way more specific, makes ya wonder why we aren't taught it in school!

So inspiring!!! Thank you for that. I'm still a newbie, even though I have been a premium member for the past year. I had to take time for myself and work on personnal issues.
I never forgot about my WA account and always intended to get back to it. I still love my niche and do not regret a single minute my choice.
I just know that my process will be longer and slower than others.
But, I have the feeling that you were saying that it's ok to go at our own pace and that gave me confidence.

Thank you Mary
All the best

I love your blog, thank you for that, its just what I wanted to hear today. The analogy of the two belts really makes sense. I'm like you, very much into my niche but need to learn a whole lot more about the website and marketing. Its great to read how far you have come. Well done to you.

Yes the stuff Kyle teaches in how to set up a website really works, and he's not pushing fancy this or that, just the key stuff that will work for you to communicate to your niche audience

What an amazing blog. I loved the fact that you brought WA & niche together. I put a brick into my internet business home every day, the bricks seem small but I say: hey, it is better than sitting and waiting for things to happen. So glad you showed us that you can make money.

a brick a day is great - that's the principle behind George's video, he talks about a pebble a day dropped into a bucket that may look slow but one day the bucket is full :)

This is an incredible post that has overshadowed the rest.

I love this INSPIRATION, MozMary, and this is the very method everyone needs here.

Not that we go out and buy a Black belt suit and wearing it without knowing anything of martial art.

The Niche pointer is absolutely a killer.
Thank you, thank you.

Thanks for writing a great post. Thank you for the clarification about two belts to master (niche and website). Understanding this will help me focus my time better).

Your story is inspiring and shows me anyone can make their dreams a reality. First step is dreaming up what you want to achieve. Then it is imaging what it will taste, smell, feel and look like. Next we need to work at "mastering" our niche and/or website until our "dream" becomes our new reality.

I see more now that success is attitude and relentless effort creating our dreams into the new reality.

Anyways thanks again and congrats on your success!

You inspire us! We can all do this. I think when you choose a niche, you need to sit down and think about how much you know about it, what you would like to learn about it, and what posts you can start writing at the beginning. It's really important to have a niche that arouses enough passion in you so that you can keep on writing for it for a long period of time.

Now to go have my $2,000 week!

I am definitely the tortise wishing I could be the hare

The results are in.

I've questioned many people on this site and everyone says the same thing content mastery is the key to a successful money making website.

I have started here about 6 months ago and I am still going through the training and sometimes I wonder if I picked the right niche. Everyone says that if you are passionate about it then the writing will reflect that and google will reward you for it with a good ranking.

Be sure that the writing is original and useful.

Great article at least now I have a somewhat of a roadmap

well my previous blogs are how I got there, using the stuff in the entrepreneur course here in Premium membership, sticking with the basics of that with staying on top of my niche, when I add a few zeros to that with some fancy moves there'll be more to write about :)

The main key I got out of your post is when you wrote:

"To keep plodding along in the right direction with the right foundation that you get here to set up your website
And regarding niche be yourself and use your full skillset."

$2000 in a weak?! Great job!

Also, I'm glad to see people on WA telling the community about their performance. It is inspiring and it gives a little more proof about this whole thing at WA.

I don't know why people tend to be secretive about income. It's not like it will de-spawn if you tell other people about it. But seriously, thanks for sharing.

I've been lucky to see others do this in the past, we need to know what is possible out there. And I see them do it in many different ways in many different niches.

This is absolutely nothing compared to what the professionals are making! I'm just literally beginning to find my feet - this was an unusally good week in my niche but it's motivating to do more work
