Hi Everyone,
Its been a while since I posted here. I've been dabbling on Instagram with a personal account for a year or so and now I need to take it to the next level.<
I would use namechecker.com to see what is available for names.
Jay has a series of Webinars on Instagram you may find helpful. Amplifying the Direction of Your Instagram Brand
I would pick a name related to your niche, ideally with keywords. I wouldn't worry too much about adding punctuation to make it unique @power.drills vs. @power_drill wont make much of a difference.
I think the first word is more important because when someone is searching for you they will first type the word that they remember from your handle, then the predictive search will start auto-filling below.
I think the keyword in your handle, and a memorable profile picture is the key to success.
You can test this out by going to the magnifying glass (search) in IG then start typing in power drills and see what comes up, just aim to look different and your good.
Thank you Sasha. That is brilliant advice. Yes, it makes absolute sense to start with the keyword because following the @, every other subsequent letter reduces the list.
I think I was getting muddled by the crypto promoters (bots? scammers?) that comment and appear on many popular IG feeds; like thedailyshow or theroyalfamily .
The spammers scammers account names include a random selection of _ __ . etc and I always wondered how they get such high following . But I guess those type of IG accounts may not be promoting business itself, so I am going to disregard them and just choose my own
Initial thinking to go with brand website. if the name is taken I get creative
You can also use com or _com in end if you like if you have the domain. I'd make sure it is readable.
Example powerdrillscom or powerdrills_com
I'd also use this site http://namecheckr.com to check if the name is also available on social media platforms.
Thank you Abie. That namecheckr link is brilliant. It certainly helped to identify a few names that may work out well. But of course it doesn't permit underscores _ or double underscores __ or ._. etc. Which is good, and means I can choose a suitable domain, and then add a related Instagram and Twitter account afterwards instead of the other way around.

Thanks Andre. It was this link that I was looking for. But I seemed to go round in circles.
Thanks again
You are welcome Michael the link is not as easy to find which I believe should be shown with the rest of the banners but it is not.
At least now you have it.

I wish to add another user to my wordpress site.
He will be adding some plugins, and possibly changing theme and decorative effects.
What type of user would he be?
You can add a new user by creating a profile for them. They will have their in login and password.
According to wordpress, the EDITOR role will suit the needs of this new profile.
If you're not convinced, read this from wpbegginner.com

Thanks Rudy.
That infographic on that link was quite explanatory. Because my contractor will be adding plugins, I realise that I now need to make him admin role.
As Phil said earlier, I have to trust him.
But it would be a problem if I was inadvertently removed as admin.
I was kind of hoping or expecting there to be a SuperUser role.
Glsd that was helpful.
I'm curious as to why you are giving someone admin privileges...
If you want to have absolute control, there is a way to do this....
You could create a multisite:

Well I came across an ad for someone that could build me a site. I had registered the domain some time back, and I thought it was a good idea/ I had nothing to lose etc.
Up until now I have built all my own sites, and I was curious how his would work.
So he has built the site but because he was installing plugins, and changing themes, he needed admin control.
Now that the project is complete, I could delete his user account, though I haven't as yet, just in case there are any significant issues.
The domain itself actually was registered some time ago though not in use, so there really is no loss there.
But. I am concerned that in the future, there could be issues. Creating a network of sites, as per your link, is slightly confusing for me now and will take a bit of time to get my head around the process.
But thanks again for the suggestion.
Best Regards
I once was hacked and gave a tech I found access. I created the account and password. I deleted his account once task was accomplished.
When I needed him again to remedy a situation that came up, I again created user account with new password, only once he logged in, 8 received notice that he had changed the password I gave him. I immediately disabled his account and further attempts to reach him went unanswered.
Be careful.
As a suggestion, you could give them full admin when they need to add a plugin. Otherwise, he can do almost everything as an editor role. That way you have control over your website.
Re multisite, yeah, it can be confusing. I learned about it when I helped on friends multisite that had a public and membership sites.
Stay on top of your site, and you should be fine...
Rudy
Howzit Louise.
Thanks for the link. I kind of knew where to go, but didn't have the definitions for the roles. So this was useful.
Hi Michael
Only a pleasure. Terminology is often the thing that stands in the way of what we are looking for. I've been helped out a lot within WA and it really is my pleasure to share my learnings.
Blessings

to change or add plugins they need to be an adminstrator....
so you need to trust them...
remember they d othis for a living so they have a reputation to consider if they do anything bad to your site....
just check them out first and if you have any reservations don't do it...
good luck
phil
Thanks Phil. That makes sense.
I had this initial paranoid niggle though, that a gifted user could add a backdoor login. Somewhat unfounded now that I have given it some thought ;-)
it is good to have a sense of paranoia, but as i say above they have to keep working and a bad reputation travels a lot faster than a good one...
but definitely worth asking the question and settling your mind a bit....
