Google Analytics Question?

I recently completed a video training by Kyle on Google Analytics and almost the first screen showed the "UA- "tag which is required for AIOSEO. (UA = Universal Analytics)

However, the training was dated around 2014 and it seems that Google Analytics has had more development so now they offer a "G-" tag. (I think this means a Global site tag)

My question is. Is the G-tag something that replaces the UA tag, because I cannot find this UA tag in my Google account.

And do you have to add that tag to every page, or just the home page header?

There is also a section called Data Streams on the right of the screen; All, IoS, Android, Web

Do I have to add my domain in each of those data streams?

Finally, does anyone have a link to a newer guide for Google Analytics 2020 or newer, or is developing a training? The Google Help gives so much depth that I am being overwhelmed.

Thank you so much.

Michael

Hi Guys. Sorry to keep going on about this...

So I revisited the training. I see now why I installed MonsterInsights in error, but
a) The training shows a different screen which has a G-tag and my screen doesn't; and
b) I don't know where or how to create that G- tag within Google Analytics

I would be grateful for further comment. Thank you

Good new information in the answers to your question, Michael! Well done!

Hi Michael, I see Newme202 (Simone) has left you an excellent link.

All the best,

Michael

Thanks Michael. That training was very helpful though slightly different. But I believe that I have succeeded in setting up my analytics although my process took me via Monsterinsights which Phil doesn't cover.

Hi Michael, glad you got things straightened out. Just wondering why you would want to use Monsterinsights. If you have got Google analytics working to your satisfaction, I would eliminate Monsterinsights. That is just a personal opinion and maybe met with some disagreement.

All the best,

Michael

I didn't really purposely choose monsterinsights. I wanted help with analytics and inputting the info in AIOSEO led me there. I probably pressed the wrong button though and will review that when I try to add analytics to another domain I have.

Michael, if you go to the magnifying glass up top and type in Google Analytics, you will find some more training. It looks like Jay did one not too long ago.
I hope that helps.

Thanks Jeannette. I did search there first, but felt everything that I watched looked different to my setup.
I've possibly done something wrong in the initial stage, but I think Google Analytics changes quite frequently.

Michael, there was big update, I believe late last year
I think this new training will sort you out Let us know if it helps you

Thanks Simone. My interface is different to that presented in the training. On Phil's training there is a field to input the G Tag but not in my version.
Apparently I need to use monsterinsights, but I am currently unable to insert the G tag so I will need to fiddle a bit more.

3

Michael, you don't need to use Monsterinsights. You can put your Gtag into ad inserter plugin
Or you can put into the miscellaneous section of your AIOSEO

Thanks Simone. I will stick with what I have now for my one site, and go through Phil's video again tomorrow and see if I can replicate this on another.
I was ever so careful today but in the end was directed to MonsterInsights so I have just installed that.
Thanks for the tips

Ambassador Simone at work. Watching that video made me realize the mistake I made when setting mine up. Appreciate it!!

Michael, that's okay. Some members gave reported problems with using Monsterinsights.
Just giving you a heads up
