Question about Social Media accounts

Today I have revisited the training on Social Media about What does Social Engagement mean to your business.

When I first did the training and created the accounts, I was following a particular niche, but I decided to register for each of the services as a personal account, and learn the platforms, by sharing some casual things with friends and family.

  • When I read that Facebook and Instagram are tied together, I was initially worried that Instagram folk who are there for the images and video, may not want to see my personal holiday pictures, so i have purposely held back from posting there.

And for twitter, occasionally one gets involved in social things like a vote on change.org for some cause or other, although I do manage 3 local environment-related groups that have their own twitter accounts and facebook accounts.

And Facebook I treat as my personal photo album sharing things with friends and family around the world.

So it leads me to a few questions to experienced folk, and especially folk that generate some traffic and income from their social media streams, and I would be very grateful to read your replies.

  1. Do you create a separate Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account for each domain or niche website that you start? or
  2. Do you have one account and simply mix and match your posts between the various services and your personal stuff?
  3. How many Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts can one have? Are they related by specific email address or by phone number?
  4. Would you have any tips, thoughts or suggestions, to make operating multiple social media accounts, that you wish you had known when you started?
  5. Finally, I would be grateful if you can direct me to your best training that you found for any of these social media platforms.

I realize it will take me a while to really learn them in depth, but I have already wasted a lot of time on Twitter because I had different email addresses and the same phone number so getting a forgotten password was quite an issue.

Thank you for reading

Hi Michael,
Meena has given some very detailed advice below.
I do as she does and that is, I have separate accounts for personal and business pages.
Holiday snaps and instagram go hand in hand Michael. It is a great way to build a following.
Michael.

Thanks Michael.
I am going to proceed with one platform at a time as I realized I was trying to fit everything in to a convenient package.
And I understand what you say about holidays and instagram

I’m not real experienced, but, in my opinion, I think it’s best to have accounts for each niche. Your followers will get confused that way. Also, your personal account just won’t be adequate to deal with your business needs. If you go to the magnifying glass at the top right of the dashboard, and ask a question about social media accounts, you’ll find a lot of trainings and you can pick the one that fits you best.

Thank you Jim. I will go through those trainings one at a time. I think I was overwhelmed in the moment and wanted to find an instant solution ;-)
But I am going to take one platform at a time.
Thanks again

That's the way to do it. And do all the related practical work for each lesson. You will probably always find things that you want to do that will require some learning.

I use twitter and have 3 accounts and the same on each social media platform, though more on Pinterest.
It is better to have one for each website so they say.
I have been using twitter the most over the last 10 years and discovered that at a certain point your followers grow rapidly but up that point, you need to work at it.
Personally I find facebook limiting. Years ago it was excellent for small business sadly no longer. It is good to have a presence there and share your posts etc.
Pinterest if used regularly and properly really produces well apparently. The amount of followers isn't important there, its the amount of views your page gets per month.
Instagram used properly is meant to be good too.

I just learnt as I went along, probably better to have lessons on each one if you have the time.
You would be better to focus on one platform at a time.
You can use the main accounts on each one for sharing personal stuff if you want to, then get business pages for the rest.
It is important not to waste a lot of time on them. Otherwise you could spend all day on social media while your websites don't get more content.

Thank you for sharing your experience Linda.
I understood that we can only have one FB account. Have I got this wrong?
:-)
Richard

Thank you a lot for this reply Linda, I have just started using social media for my sites, a bit late to the game, so this is great info 😎

I have 2 main ones so far and 3 business pages. You just use a different email address,

Hi Richard. For any facebook page, one has to initially have a personal account first. and then add the business pages or additional pages.
In addition to my business domains, I also look after 3 Freegle groups so we have a page for each and its quite straightforward to use them side by side.
But now I'm debating whether to add my 3 latest domain projects there as well, so I will go and read the rest of the comments here.
Thanks

Thanks Linda. Some great advice and much appreciated. Yes, I will work with platform at a time and get that working well, before I complicate it trying to do too many at once.
I think I felt overwhelmed when asking the question but it is much clearer to me now.
Thanks again

You are very welcome. Always happy to help if I can.
Put your social media business accounts on your profile here too. There are also various threads on here to gain followers as a way of getting started.

Hi Michael
This is what I thought - 1 FB account within which we can create any number of pages.
:-)
Richard

Great questions. I'm interested in the answers Michael.
this is the limit of my knowledge to date ...
I use Twitter and have a reasonable number of followers ... but only one account. I am aware that I could create more Twitter accounts.
I believe FB only allow one account per person ... but we can create many different pages within that account. I have a business page set up and do get a small number of clicks from it.

I have a way to go with social media...
:-)
Richard

1. Do you create a separate Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account for each domain or niche website that you start? or

Answer:
Yes, because for each domain you would need a page or a group to create and you would create them under your domain name. So that the traffic be directed into the direction of your domain name through your social media accounts.

2. Do you have one account and simply mix and match your posts between the various services and your personal stuff?

Answer:
No, because doing so you wouldn't want to confuse your audiences and clients.

3. How many Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts can one have? Are they related by specific email address or by phone number?

Answer:
You would want to have one business and one personal for each account. You would want to put all your personal ones from each different platforms under one email address. You would use a second email address for your business accounts from different platforms.

4. Would you have any tips, thoughts or suggestions, to make operating multiple social media accounts, that you wish you had known when you started?

Answer:
Not anything special as a tip but just that you would need to locate your targeted audience as per your niche. If your niche is health related, you need to find more people with health issues and problems in that specific platform. This could be build by your social engagements, to know where and in which platform your targeted audiences are located.

5. Finally, I would be grateful if you can direct me to your best training that you found for any of these social media platforms.

Answer:
I have attached a very good search results as per the screen shots. They are from Kyle and Jay. You could chose from among them as per your need. It is under the search button if you type social media, you would see them.

Thanks for the well explained answers Meena.
Thanks for taking the time to invest in others.
What other platform offers this.
You're awesome.
Sending fireworks and rainbows your way.
Be safe
Mike

Thank you Meena for this

That’s a great reply Mena. Thank you for the wealth of useful tips!
:-)
Richard

Meena very useful information, thanks for sharing.

Cheers
Murray

Thank you so much Meena. I appreciate your reply and that makes so much sense.
To be honest, I will probably take one platform at a time, but your answer #3 gives me peace and confidence as to how to proceed. It is a practical and simple approach.
Thank you for your advice. I am very grateful.
Best Regards
Michael
