Fun With Code: Scrolling Text Widget
Just a quickie post today.
You don't have to be an HTML coding expert to add a little pizzazz to your website.
Paste this code into a Custom HTML widget:
<marquee>Have a happy Christmas!</marquee>
Change the text in the middle to whatever you like.
I've used a Custom HTML widget for breaking news on my website MarionBlackOnline dot com.
What can you do on your site?

Hi Marion, I just now checked out your site...it looks FAB!! Really well done!
May I ask what theme you are using?
And The Happy Christmas pizzazz I do not see on your site...I wonder why.
Thanks
Tom
I'm using the scrolling text for breaking news at the moment. I'll probably change it closer to Christmas day.
The theme is Weaver Xtreme with a lot of customization. But that's why I chose it, I can make it look just as I want.
That's wonderful tip you dished out Marion.
Sort of like template.
Useful and something anyone can plug it in.
Cheers
Steve
That’s great Marion.
I had no idea you have created that many tutorials! Kudos to you!!
I like the placement of your social media icons in the left sidebar too. You just gave me a new idea as I may try that too as I don’t like mine being at the bottom of my pages.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you as well!
Dave
Thanks Dave,
I'm using 'AddToAny Share Buttons' plugin. I like the way the buttons scroll without jumping around.
Thanks Marion! I was just asking someone this week about scrolling text across website! I was informed it would slow the site load time down and can't be used on mobile device...
Have you found an issue with this using this widget? I will assume not since you recommend it.
Or is this different than simply having a line of text always run across a page of one's site? For a little pop?
Not slowing things down that I can see Cindy. Looks good on mobile too. Check out my site marionblackonline.com
Thanks for sharing. IMHO scrolling text looks chinzy but that is just my opinion. If you feel that this is a benefit to your site, who am I to say differently.
