I too am having major problems with my Canadian Amazon Associates product HTML codes not populating in my blog post.....I have tried multiple times....no problem with Sidebar widget but this is first time entering product into a post....used text in Wordpress....followed all instructions that are recent....help?

Why don't you try other links instead of the Canadian one?

I have not yet joined Amazon US or UK....perhaps now I will!

I have been unable to start up an aStore either...despite meticulously following Marion Black's video!

Mant Thanks!

I don't have any problems, but you might want to watch this training, see if you are missing something. :)

Thanks. Will watch. But it was working perfectly but now none of my links that were working are working and I can't make new ones to work either. It is amazon uk that I am using

I have UK links too, will go have another check

Thanks. I am linking over and over, but nothing is working

Mine are ok so am assuming its not an Amazon issue. Hang on I think I know who might be able to help. :)

have you looked at the link Kathy provided?

The video, yes. I am doing exactly that. As I say, links were working fine, then would not work. I have just reset a page again, and at the moment the links are working. But they work one time I click on them, then don't work, it just says connecting but doesn't open.

what is your url?

purrypawscafe.com At the moment I seem to be getting them to work. But there is something not quite right as when the page opens the tab at the top flickers a few times before settling. The page I have reset that is now working is under reviews (only one there). This page worked fine when I created it and set the links up a week or so ago, but today not was not working and the page I am working on now would also not work. I am redoing links on that one again. Hopefully that will work this time.
Thanks for your help

I want to look at your source code

The page that I reset that was working fine a few minutes ago is now not working again aaaagh

how do I show you source code

Have you made any other changes to this page besides just the Amazon links?

No. Just came on today, added a new page for a review and when I started doing the associate links found there was a problem. Then went back to the review I did a few days ago that had been fine and found that the amazon links on that were not working. At the moment the links are working. Although whether they will be if I try again in a few minutes or not is anyone's guess! Seems there must be some glitch between me and Amazon. Maybe I should shut down and see what happens tomorrow.

Just clicked links again that were literally working two minutes ago and now they are not!

I see where you have 3 links, 2 texts and 1 image link. Is it happening on all 3?

Absolutely no links working again! About ready to give up on this whole project. Seems to be one step forward and twenty back. Had thought this amazon thing was easy, but no idea why it is not working now and I am doing nothing different. The links must be right or why would it work some of the time. Thanks for trying to help.

I think it may be something in your code, not the links. Won't know unless I can take a look

I'm looking to put a new post on and have found two very similar search terms on the keyword tool - one has a score of 174 searches with 14 competing sites. The other has 2677 s

Yes I agree with Chris Evans advice all the best

They both sound like good keyword choices - if they are similar ( related ) why don't you use them both in the article? Pick one as the title ( main keyword ) and then use them both in the body of the article ( maybe use the other as a sub-heading ). I often use 2 - 3 keywords in a single article and it works fine :)

Thanks Chris, that's what I thought, but was not sure if there was some reason to use the same term in the title and body. You confirming this is OK is a great help. Lyndsey

Yeah I often do what you were suggesting ( using both ) and it works fine. Just make sure they both make sense and read well. There's nothing wrong with using the same keyword in the title AND the body as long as you don't overuse it. I usually use a each keyword about twice in each article as a rule of thumb.

Does anyone have any idea why images I put on a blog post don't show and why the post is also coming up as nothing found? I put a post on my site, which appears on the rolling b

Your images show up alright in Google Chrome.

I don't know about FireFox as I use Chrome and Opera, but there should be a settings tab or a set of horizontal bars for settings, click those and look over. You should find a place where it says "clear cache" or "clear browsing history". That will clear your history and cache for you because site looks fine to me in Chrome.

I went to your site, and the only link that I found that wasn't working was your Latest Articles - "Why do cats slow blink".
I think your link is not typed correctly (santax error - missing quote, spaces misspelled words, etc). It seems to work fine from your top menu bar and from the left navigation is okay also. I would triple check page title, then make sure link is exact. I hope this helps.
Ken

I didn't actually create a link, the theme I am using automatically puts posts onto the rolling home page, so I don't know where to check the link. I would take it off of the rolling home page and start again with this post, but I can't see any way of doing that.

Site is coming up just fine for me!
... I'm a cat lover too, so I will be bookmarking and leaving comments later.

Maybe if you clear your cache - that might work.

Thanks, but I am still getting nothing when I click on blog post Why do cats slow blink? from the rolling blog homepage. How do I clear cache? Sorry, am a complete beginner at this!

I see now - that is the only page not coming up for me too.
I agree with kmer6 below - could there be some misspelling somewhere?

I have worked through the first two courses but my website still looks nothing like I want it to and I don't know how to change it.
I thought course 3 may help with this, but

Each theme has different options for customising it. Some are limited. Others have a multitude of features. There will be information on how to customise your theme or at least how to make it look like it should, in the theme documentation. Google the name of your theme and you should find the developers site. If it's a popular theme there will probably be a forum or FAQ section with info on doing this.

But I'd add content first, then once you have a good number of posts & pages think more about what it will look like.

Thanks. Probably trying to get ahead of myself but will feel more inspired once it looks more how I want it. Have changed the theme and am now 'playing' so will see what happens.

Hi Lyndsey
There are so many themes to choose from, it's not an easy decision to make.
When looking for something suitable, I use Google. Just type in "best WordPress theme for *your niche*" and see what comes up.. you can usually get some decent ideas.
But I would say that if you plan to change it again, do this before you have a heap of things in your sidebar widget area or you will have to re-customize it all. I found this out the other day and it took me a while to re-do all of my banners and the opt-in form etc.
Agree with Ian about content, though.. once you have a good amount to work with, it's easier to visualize what you want.

I am a bit confused about the keyword search tool. I have been amazed how easy it was to find keywords with a reasonable number of searches but low competition - until I typed

I was wondering the exact same thing!!!!!

Google looks at your location and by default it will give you localized version of Google and search result will, in your case, be targeted to someone who lives in Spain and speaks Spanish.

You can choose to use Google.com and see results in English, but the results will still vary a bit because of your location in the world and your search history.

Thanks Oliver. This seems to mean both Keyword tool and Jaaxy are no good to me as they will only give me the .es results.

Nope, the Keyword tool and Jaaxy use "main" Google site - Google.com. When you use Google, you should set it up for Google.com (it's somewhere in the footer) as default so it would match results from Jaaxy.

I live in Serbia and by default when I install Windows or new browser I get Google.rs, which I then change to Google.com.

Thanks Oliver. I can see that when my browser automatically sends me to google.es site I can choose Google.com each time and then am able to use google.com. However, there still seems to be something odd about Jaaxy and Keyword Tool results.

As an example - the search term that I have put into both Jaaxy and Keyword tool is - how do cats talk - In both Jaaxy and Keyword Tool it comes up with only 9 competing sites, which seems surprisingly low. If I then type the term "how do cats talk" into google.es I get the same 9 results. However, if I type it into google.co.uk (a google site where people would search in English) I get 56,600 results!

I tried doing as suggested and when my browser automatically sent me to google.es even though I typed in google.com I selected use google.com at the bottom of the page and once again typed in "how do cats talk" and again got 9 results (supposedly from google.com) but I find this very surprising when the same term in .co.uk came up with 56,600.

I am now extremely confused and don't know that I can trust the results that Keyword Tool and Jaaxy are giving me at all. The only thing that makes sense to me is that these tools are giving me the .es results and that when I change my google search from .es to .com on google after being sent by the automatic default to .es it is still giving me the same .es results - I cannot believe there would be such a huge difference for this search term between google.co.uk and google.com

Is there anyone out there in the US who can put this term into google.com from a US IP address and see how many competing sites come up - and also how many competing sites they get for this search term in Jaaxy and Keyword Tool from a US IP address, please? That way at least I will know if I am getting different results due to having a Spanish IP address.

Thanks

thanks!! I was wondering about this too - I need to study this post !

Ok, so when I search for "how do cats talk" I see on top of the search:

About 51,300 results (0.52 seconds)

Being a software developer myself, I started thinking that this is a bug. But, this is Google we are talking about, so someone would have noticed it by now. ;-) Then I though that this may be the result when you count all sources Web, Video, Images, News etc.

Jaaxy is only counting web results, as they are the ones that we need.

Nowm even though it says 51,300 results, there are 4 pages, but by clicking on 4th page I found myself on the second page with 19 results in total and the text

In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 19 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.

Now, some of these results come from the same web site, which I think Jaaxy counts as 1 competition site, as it should be.

Anyway I get more than 9 distinctive results, but not by many. I think maybe 15. So, it's actually pretty accurate.

Try this on google.co.uk

Hi Oliver, thanks for this - getting stranger and stranger. I did what you said on google.co.uk and same thing happened - the 56,600 results turned into 18 results when I clicked on the final page! So I guess I will just trust Jaaxy and Keyword Tool and hope for the best.

I am only getting results for google.es when I use both the keyword tool and Jaaxy. This is no good to me as I am trying to build an English language site. I am guessing there must be a setting on my computer that is automatically assuming any google I want is google.es as I live in Spain. Does anyone have any ideas how I can change this and get the true google.com results in both Keyword Tool and Jaaxy. Thanks

Thank you. Tried it and you are right, however I have just realised I have another problem. I live in Spain and it seems when I use the keyword tool it is giving me the results for google.es - which are low for most search terms as of course most people would be searching in Spanish. This is why I was finding it suspiciously easy to find great search terms! So when I put the same keyword into google.es it gives me the same number of results as the keyword tool, but if I go to google.co.uk there is a massive amount more competition. I can't seem to get onto google.com as it just changes back to google.es, but am assuming google.com would give me even more. This means the keyword tool is not much good to me as I am writing in English not Spanish. Any ideas?

Thanks Alan, but it is definitely giving me the .es results in the keyword tool as the numbers are the same when I put the same search term into .es, but vastly different (by hundreds of thousands) if I put them into .co.uk - As I said, I can't access .com as my computer immediately changes back to .es, but this is likely to be even higher than the .co.uk figures. So I do still need to find a way to stop Keyword Tool giving me .es results if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks again, will see if I can figure that out
