Don't do it!

Hello my friends!

There are some wonderful bloggers here on WA and I would not consider myself among them. I tend to avoid blogging and prefer to comment on other peoples' interesting comments and stories. Following a long break and from my site and the WA tutorials, I recently got back to work and was very happy to see my ratings increase within Google. In my over-enthusiasm I blogged about this and referenced my site - a big no-no! So I thought I would check out the do's and don'ts of blogging on Wealthy Affiliate - as there are several things on the list that could catch people off their guard!

This is a copy of Kyle's post:

  • No unsolicited messages to be sent through private messaging. This will lead to immediate removal of your ability to post anywhere within WA.
  • No copied content allowed to be posted here at Wealthy Affiliate. This content will be immediately removed and you will lose posting privileges.
  • Do not copy content from WA and post it somewhere else on the Internet. This includes copying your own blog content and putting it on your website.
  • No promotions with comments or chat. Although these may seem like subtle ways to promote, if you are caught doing this, you will likely lose privileges. If a link is posted out of an act to help someone, not sell something, that is OK.
  • No training should be focused around a promotion of a product or service or give half information. If it does, then it will be immediately removed from the training at WA and you may lose all privileges to post training in the future.
  • No blog or forum posts that are created for the pure purpose of promoting a product. This does include product reviews. Rants are OK.
  • No adding affiliate links to any blog, training, discussion or private message
  • Do not post content that is irrelevant to the online business world or your respective journey through the online world. Anything that is "niche" specific should be posted on your external websites.
  • No soliciting phone numbers or asking people to call you
  • Asking for personal contact information
  • Any in appropriate content (adult content, website URL's or related images)
  • Soliciting communication outside of the Wealthy Affiliate platform
  • Using incorrect or misleading headlines within your discussions or blog posts
  • No faith or religion based posts
  • No politically driven posts
  • Promoting ANY product whatsoever
  • Anything else that you are knowingly doing in attempt to sell something.
  • Happy Sunday everyone and hope the Valentine Fairy was good to you!

You are a fine blogger, don't underestimate yourself Lorna! :)

That's very sweet of you Christa :-)

Good to be reminded. Don't think I've overstepped any of these bounds. Hope not anyway. :)

    Thanks Judy!

    Nice reminder for all.....

    Thanks Debbie!

That was a no-no!, Thanks anyhow,

Blogging is just not for me!

Great, thanks, but you copied Kyle's post. Don't do it.

Did you read the 2nd rule? Is it any different in your case? Isn't it ironic? However, I know your intentions were good and thank you for reminding us.

Thanks Michael - but I was quoting Kyle not copying him - but point taken! :-)

    I give up!

No, don't do it. Don't give up.

Great post, it's always a good idea to know what not to do. It seems like some of those would be easy to do unintentionally of course. Thanks for the info!!

Exactly - Hence the warning as I got caught out myself..... many thanks for your comments Eric!

Most of the items listed are (or seem) harmless but I understand why each item is on the list. Where was this originally posted, I don't remember seeing it anywhere?

    No worrries Eric:
    Spam is a NO NO!

Thanks Lorna ... I really do not recall that screen at all. I've been doing so much at WA it's all becoming a blur - lol. thanks again!!

    Hi Lorna!

You know - Kyle and Carson have successfully built a business and their platform allows us the opportunity to learn how to do the same thing. I think we both respect what they've done and we respect the investment of time, energy and money they've put in to make this platform available to us.

One of the phenomenal advantages they have is a way for us to provide the domain to our website(s). When you do so, it will appear underneath your blog titles. If you take a look at the attached image, you'll see how it will appear for you.

I strongly urge any WA member to take advantage of this feature.

Hope this helps and God Bless!

Good point Cathy - if anyone wants to look at our sites it is quite simple - I check out other peoples' regularly......thanks for the response!

no comment Lorna coz I disagree with two of them.
    Have a nice day.
    Robert

Yeah I see several of these being done all the time with out any penalty. I am only just realising that they are banned as I read this post.

Hi Jason - thanks for replying - I'm sure its unintentional a lot of the time....

In my humble opinion it is not disagreeing with others. It is helping others by using the knowledge you have ascertained. Different answer will always be just note your answer which will help her. be blessed and I hope this help you to change your outlook on commenting on blogs.

Thanks Lorna, this has to be said and go around all members:)

Wow! According to your ranking and your membership date you are doing extremely fine. Now you never really said but for your concern has to do with some of the policies than as you continue you will be able to envision how some of these things could get out of hands if no guidelines existed. I asked myself the same question sometime ago but I finally realize that Kyle and Carson want this to remain an educational environment and not one to try generate traffic for the good of monetizing your site. I can now understand this. Integrity and confidentiality is the way I look it.

Many thanks for your comment and I agree with you Robert. With the membership of WA growing daily, if everyone were to promote their business, this facility would become merely an advertising page.
