Unexpected results of Grammarly, the english grammar check online
A few moments ago I have downloaded Grammarly Free.
And I came back here on WA and surprisingly some green wheel is checking my grammar right away! And gives the errors with a red dot!
you can click on the dot, and it gives you the right grammar instantly!
How nice!

Thanks for this one.
It's a great tool, I've used it before.
However most nice things especially software have their limitations as Authur has rightly pointed out.
How many of us totally depend on spellcheckers? I don't.
I never trust spellchecker with the literally translated phrases. I know it is often not fitting in another language.
Hi Loes,
I certainly do not wish to "rain on anyone's parade"but I would personally advise caution when using or recommending this piece of software!
In the first place, as an English teacher of long experience, I am skeptical that a piece of software can provide accurate checks of one's grammar and spelling et cetera. Motivated by this perception I searched the Internet for a review of the product and came up with the following!
(The quotation below is from an article entitled "Grammarly doesn't do all it claims to do")
"We might be tempted to suggest Grammarly for students or learners of English, but the fact that Grammarly has nothing to say about so many of our intentionally incorrect sentences leads us to the sad conclusion that Grammarly is useless for everyone. "
(Their review was highly revealing!)

I recommend reading the article in its entirety before making a decision to purchase. On a hopeful note may be the software will have improved by the time you read this post?

Hi Arthur, I know what you mean, it's a free online version which can be downloaded, and I think it's very handy for not native English writers, for instance, words as appriciation, congratiolation, verrification, recomanding, disicion, etc. how the heck does you spell those words correctly. I know I need other help for sentence structure or phrase form :)
It's a great help for me. I don 't have the jump over to Google every sentence.
Hi Loes,
As you point out, this particular version that you speak of may be useful to the non-native English writers. Certainly anything that helps when it comes to improving one's English, and is free to boot, can't be all that bad! I suppose it gives some credence to the old English saying "don't look a gift horse in the mouth"!
Please don't label me as a "grammar Nazi" just yet! Some of us are perhaps a little bit too picky!
Kind regards,
Arthur
Whaouw, thanks Loes!
Just installed it. Such a great tool!
Very useful when English is not your first language :)
Just checking my website and there is some work to do haha
Hi. I am a frequent user of Grammarly chrome extension. It works really great. It corrects my misspelt words on the fly. At the same time, I am learning English language punctuation. Something I've never bothered to learn while in the school :)
