Break your page!

Kind of odd advice, break your page

I mean, break up your page in 2 or more pages. Some websites use this with every post, and this can be very irritating, especially when they load multiple advertisements with every page shift. You probably have seen that happening.

This code you can paste in between your text, and will lead your visitor, with pagination, to the next page, and prevents them from endless scrolling.

<!--nextpage-->

When you use this code on a lengthy post, use it with moderation.

Wow, I didn't know that. This is great, thanks Loes.
It means I can shove something that's unimportant such as supplementary document into the 2nd page. And you'll get an extra click I suppose.
Thank you!

Yes, you do get an extra click, don't overdo this;)

Loes, any advice on how many words a post should be before using page break?

I have one post that is over 3500 words and I think it might be helpful on that one.

When it's one subject, don't break it, but when you have different subjects you can.

Eg. Talking about farm animals:
Page 1 Cow
Page 2 Horse
Page 3 Sheep

ah okay Loes, makes sense. thanks!

Another great tip thank you, Loes

You're welcome Brad:)

Hi, Loes.
Paul here from Canada.
Please excuse my ignorance on this topic.

I would highly appreciate a clarification.

So what exactly does this mean?
Your post is very important and needs to be understood in my opinion.

Most things that I write are more than what is visible on the physical screen, which means that my readers have to scroll down.

Are you saying that if I add <!--next page--> where my actual visual page breaks, through the wordpress that this command will automatically take my reader to the next page of my very lengthy post?

Not sure if I am on point, but my response seems responsible.

Kindest regards,

Paul.

Yes, it breaks your post into several pages, I have used this on my very lengthly Faq page. Not every post is suitable to use it on, so that's why I said, use this with moderation, and only when needed

Thank you. I think I get it.
Cheers,
Paul.
