Hi all,

It is very hard to find information outside of my "English bubble", here and on social media, as I always look things up SEO-wise and such in English.

So

I think one thing to keep in mind would be if your results for a dutch search term are the same as they would be for someone, say in the Netherlands. I think Google takes into account your location, your search history, etc. when showing its results. So while you may not see much competition for a dutch phrase, that same phrase may be much more competitive in another area where they speak it predominantly.

I'm not for sure on this at all, but it might be something to look into.

And I think English is by far the leading language spoken globally when you consider second-languages. Most all of the world teaches English as a second language and in lots of global industries like aviation, etc. it's mandatory.

But I do like the thinking outside the box to gain a competitive advantage. Nicely done!

Well, as for the dominant places. The thing is that dutch is spoken in the Netherlands, and in the north parth of Belgium, we are their actual neighbours. Belgians dont seem to buy a lot of stuff from Belgian stores,.as I think that no one here even knows about SEO at all lol!.so belgian stores we're not found in google.be

The biggest sale stores online are here stores like bol.com, which is an actual Dutch store, selling all kinds of products like amazon in the us , bit people dont really buy often on Amazon here and amazon.nl and amazon.be ,, both are pretty new and hardly used. Although they have departments in Europe.
Long story short, it's complicated lol.

Theres only one more dutch speaking.country and thats the former colony of the netherlands: Suriname

In my country and several other european countries, english isnt always the second language teached in school you know.
In Belgium we have three official languages: Dutch, French and German. The first 2 mandatory , and english is only third. . Same in switserland where theres 3 languages as well,. The netherlands have german as a second i think, etc. Not sure about France or spain or italy. Spain and italy defenitely not, spend my.teenager holidays there lol, couldnt communicate at all.with the boys hahaha
But what I mean also, we do our research in our own language and we read reviews and travel stories in our language. And we have our own affiliate compagnies like boll.com and booking.com
If 10 dutch people buy 10 mini kits per day from my site in dutch , that is still beter then one american per day buying one from my english site, no?
I'm gonna try 😊

The classes you gave on building a new site with the hubs and such and building logo with Ai, now comes in handy again..Been forever since I build one. Nice series there, thanks! ( see, I can be positive haha). Untill something else upsets me , wait out the next storm 😅
(Refering to last KYles vlog lol)

Hi Lizzy

I’m just following this thread since I’m curious to find out more.

I speak Italian, so that might be a possibility, although I believe English is the most profitable language on the whole.

Frank 🎸

Well, I actually think that any other language can be profitable, because in the miniature and dollhouse world, for example, there are TONS of Dutch people joining Dutch Facebook groups, for example, and they are very active in that niche, especially in the Netherlands.
Also for my other niche, the Dutch people are EVERYWHERE in Africa lol! And they are the most persistent campers and overlanders in the world, I think hahaha!
(if you travel anywhere in Europe also, you will always see a dutch camper on the highways).
One time we were in the middle of nowhere in Slovenia, in a very small town, what do you know: Dutch tourists hahaha!

Plus, there is way less competition overall from other bloggers, although this is a very 'small' language, not spoken by as many people, but still.
I would prefer even to write in German for both niches, but that's too hard haha!
The Dutch and Germans are also very active with lots of Etsy stores in the miniworld.
So at first glance, I was thinking like you: more people talk English than Dutch, but the conversions could be actually quite high I would think!

( the most spoken language in the world is also Chinese, by the way, followed by Spanish ;-) , and only then English )

Lizzy
keep rocking!

That sounds great, Lizzy! 👍😎

I’m considering the difference between Italian popularity and online traffic for the guitar niche vs actual conversions, compared to English.

Have you noticed this before, that Google is leaving out search results, when they don't appear in the first 9 spots? You can still click on, but you would specifically need to

Sorry, Lizzy but it's nothing new, But normally I would see hundreds of results before seeing this message. Perhaps you only saw nine because it was an unpopular keyword?

No, dollhouse scales are very popular keywords in the niche.

See jvranjes below his answer. We live in the same country, might be why we hadnt seen this before. Wasnt the google updates comming later in europe, maybe thats it? I really ever seen this, always scroll down a lot after youtube , pinterest and reddit results

OK. I searched "dollhouse scales" and got hundreds of results before seeing the message.

Strange! So over here after 9 already🤔

As you say, strange,

Yes I experienced the same these days and never in the past, just one screen and a bit more, and it was not that there were no related articles to show. So this is something new.

I know right, I would have noticed before!

Hey Lizzy,

This is Google search's "Omitted Results", they've been doing it for YEARS.

You'll actually find it for EVERY SINGLE KEYWORD you ever search for in Google, but usually you don't go far enough through the results to see it.

Off the top of my head, I think it's 40 pages of results that Google will display for ONE keyword (so 400 results) before you get to read this.

It's basically saying there are more results for this keyword, but we don't believe they will say anything different from what we've provided for you in te first 40 pages.

However, often there will only be a handful of results displayed, as there aren't that many articles written around that subject/keyword.

THIS is what you're currently seeing, so it is felt that the additional articles don't provide any more value or any different information from what Google has already provided in those first 9 results (it's either a really "good" keyword or a subject that has very little interest).

You can actually end up in the "Omitted results" simply due to poor ON-PAGE SEO (especially if you have very similar content or even duplicate content on your site).

Furthermore, some omitted results may actually rank HIGHER than the results that are shown.

It just depends how well the results cover the actually searched for keyword (don't forget, one article can rank for 1000s of keywords, so you MAY, as an example, let's say one article ranks for 1000 keywords, you appear in 500 search results, but are omitted from the other 500 search results, simply because for THOSE keywords you're not saying anything different or better than what's already out there. You are still indexed and ranked for those keywords, but sometimes your article may be omitted from particular search results.

You can Google something like

What Shall I Do if My Website Appears in Google Omitted Search Results

(No idea what the standard/quality of content will be like that you find from that search!!! hahahaha!!)

Partha

Ah Partha, will miss you here on the platform, did anybody tell you that yet hahaha!

I have never actually seen this, googling in Dutch, and I'm 52 now lol
Then I was thinking: yeah, when I search in Dutch, there obviously will never be that many results to be" omitted"!

Maybe I should create my site in both languages, as there are never any Reddit or Quora results either in my native tongue haha!
Thanks for the explanation again!
Lizzy

My searches are in English so pretty sure this is not the reason, but we are in the same country so this may have something to do with it.

do you do your research from 'Belgium'? I think that, a long time ago, I looked that up if it would make any difference, SEO-wise. Maybe we somehow need to use google differently, change settings or so? As most visitors are either from the US, Canada, or UK. Some Dutch

But then again, I do live in the French part, so that makes it even more complicated lol

Yes, and I do not remember what I did to have it always as a browser in English.

Next time when I see the same type of short search result I shall try it through VPN which I have for some brands that exclude us from the EU, it is active only when I log in specifically through it.

This was good question and and it pays to understand google and how to operate the most effectively under their system .Partha you did great job of explaining more about google and how this has been happening!

Hi Lizzy

I’ve seen something very similar to this. It’s Google’s attempt to create a more focused search experience.

Frank 🎸

yeah, by ranking Reddit and bloody Quora first hahahaha. i think I'll just stop doing keyword research at all, why bother lol!

There’s definitely still a lot more low-EEAT content on page one of Google than there ever was before.

I’m still ranking very well on page one of Bing, even though those search results only give me about 1,000 visits a month for about 200 articles. How about you?

Keep focusing on YouTube and the social channels you’re using, Lizzy.

Have a Rockin’ weekend! 🤘🥳
Frank 🎸

Yeah still ranking on Bing for blog posts that used to rank well on Google, but as you say, I'll keep focussing on socials, this is now where most of my traffic is coming from anyway
Have a nice weekend too! (I hope the weather there is better than here in rainy/snowy/sometimes a bit of sun- Belgium haha)
