If you have the opportunity to create a video for Pinterest, go ahead and do that!

Hi all,

I have noticed so many times, that whenever I create a Pinterest video instead of a regular picture, this gets picked up so much more than regular pictures.

This not only counts for my miniature niche, but also Africa niche (plenty of elephant videos on Canva, for example, haha)

So if you can, create videos for Pinterest guys and get that premium subscription for Canva as well, it is totally worth it! (coming from me, who was against paying for something while I'm still not making a lot of money with my site :-p )

Also, if you create Youtube videos, you can easily resize them for Pinterest videos by using the "magic switch" button on Canva, you just need to adjust it a little bit, easy peasy, it's magic!

Good luck!

Lizzy

I am currently starting a project where I am converting a lot of my best "long form" YouTube Videos into shorts.

I am not 100% convinced of the Value of Shorts, but these are perfect for posting on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook Reels...I am even considering the Dreaded TikTok...

Still Early days, and I am beginning to think My Instagram account is shadow-banned as I just get zero engagement, but it's really handy to just have content that can be used on so many channels.

I edit in Premiere Pro, as that is where I create my YouTube Videos then tweak with captions etc in Canva.

I love Pinterest as it links directly to the main site, all other Socials are so hard to get a direct link that actually drives traffic, but Pinterest really works for that! I can even see the small Ad Revenue it creates in Media Vine.

If I can grow my Pinterest Reach, then that Mediavine Income should grow too!

Exactly! Pinterest has now the biggest percentage. Instagram only works if you lead reels to your facebookpage. I gave up on insta overall, waisted to much time there and now only have the link to my youtube channel there anymore not to my blog. Might get some more clicks to my youtube from it, if I post a small video to it.instagram sucks for conversions, cause theres no straight up linking to it.
Testing put Reddit now with the help of a pro, cant do it all ๐Ÿ˜†

Can you say more what you mean with 'I can even see the small Ad Revenue it creates in Media Vine'?

Yeah, Mediavine actually breaks down Revenue by Traffic Source. It's on the main Dashboard, just scroll down and it's under Traffic Source Report.

Screenshot attached.

It's pennies for me ATM, but it's there and certainly growable!

P.S The Google Revenue is the one that really makes me cry, that topped out at over $2000 for June last year :(

Interesting, thank you. I never really looked at that breakdown on Mediavine, I knew that in the past it was more or less all from Google. I have three sites with their ads, none would qualify if I would apply now.

But I see now that Pinterest is number 2 after Google, but very close to it. I am shocked with the RPM for Pinterest, no idea why it is so high.

The same feeling about Google and crying. The same site in its best months was above mid-4-figure monthly at Mediavine alone.

my conversions from pinterest are more towards Youtube I think, will need to pin a lot more for outbound clicks to my actual blog,so much to do lol!

You will not believe but I added two videos to Pinterest. Very rough and primitive. Let's see what happens,

The point is that you are coming with some good ideas all the time, appreciated.

Do not have Canva Pro. Can you say what you actually do with the mentioned magic switch?

I was hesitant to use canva pro for a long time, but there is so much more choice in pictures and videos, it's incredibly worth it for me! Especially if you are heading towards socials now instead of just SEO.

Anyway, I use the magic switch whenever I for example, created a youtube video tutorial for my crafting work, I can turn that instantly into a Pinterest video format. I just need to focus more on the object that I'm creating (move it to the right or to the left a bit), I can then make the video shorter than the youtube video and give Pinterest viewers a short look at the tutorial, and then refer them in the description to the long form content on my Youtube channel.
I can for example say : "if you want to see the full tutorial, check out my youtube video in the link above", and then add the link.
so give them a pre-taste of the actual long form content, where I monetize my videos on youtube.
This can also be done for Instagram reeels and FB and such, but hardly do those,no more time for that haha.
the rough ones are a start haha! (I usually don't even spend that much time on them, they kind of remain rough anyway) . I think it enhances even more the catchy visuals of these days where people are focussed more on visuals than written content.
Welcome!
Lizzy

OK, making actual video shorter is indeed something I would need. Does it simply cut it at some point, or does it shrink in some other way?

I use Microsoft Clipchamp free version, it is in Windows, and it can make several different formats, including for Pinterest, just realized that today. But making it shorter, it is a manual thing. Perhaps I can just cut and say something similar to what you do.

You can cut pieces of with the scissors function , you can crop them, you can flip and animate and reposition them. Just found the filter function to and a background remover even. I would show you a screenshot, but my printscreen doesn't seem to work at the moment hahaha

ah, and adjust the speed as well

This all sounds good, thank you.

I guess nothing can replace Google in terms of traffic, but this is a past now.

you're welcome and yes I know, also doing all of this takes a lot of time also :-(

Definitely get those shorter vids on YouTube shorts too! It links directly to your longer form video, and helps with the you tube algo.

Yes, doing those as well and they are great to get more subscribers too

It seems this is possible only from a smartphone. Is there a way to do this from a computer?

You mean uploading a video? I can do both, but most on deskop yes.

I mean adding video to Pinterest, I do not see an option for this.

OK, I realize it is the same as adding a picture.

Indeed ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks for this helpful info. I have a Pinterest account with 13K monthly views. I had not thought about putting the actual video on Pinterest. I usually do a pin with a like to a YouTube video. Videos posted right on my Pinterest would boost the views of my pins.

yes indeed, I just create a short version of a youtube video if I have one, or create a video found on canvas for Pinterest, and so link that either to the actual video or to the blog post I want to promote, one or the other depending.
Outbound clicks are at a lot higher rate from videos then from pictures. Welcome!
Lizzy

Hi Lizzy

Maybe Iโ€™ll give it a try. Iโ€™ll target my static pins that are getting 3,000 impressions and over for ideas.

What is the max length on a Pinterest video? A quick Google search is giving me a range of times, from 4 to 15 minutes.

Another resource is saying itโ€™s limited by video size, not time.

Even with three minutes, I could do something quick on a guitar neck (Lol, my wife says quick for me on a guitar is 2 hours). ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Youโ€™re killing it, Lizzy!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘โ˜ ๏ธ

Frank ๐Ÿค˜๐ŸŽธ

hahaha I can imagine quick is at least 2 hours for you lol!
I think it is a maximum of 5 minutes, as I had that message once that a video was longer than 5 min. Not sure about the size sorry!
I would think that a few minutes is more then enough indeed, seeing peoples attention span is getting shorter on socials!
thanks!
Lizzy

Hi Lizzy

I was thinking of trying a few TikTok instructional videos for guitar, but it looks like it might be banned in the USA. The ban just got passed in the senate.

There's also YouTube shorts, but perhaps I should give Pinterest videos a try since I've already got a decent following there with about 600K monthly views.

Frank ๐Ÿค˜๐ŸŽธ

oh wow, tik tok banned in the US? Weird!
Yeah, 600k views is definitely worth a try I think!
you rock!
Lizzy

Thanks, Lizzy! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

TikTok is owned by the Beijing-based company ByteDance. The US is concerned that China is collecting data on Americans and using it to exert counterproductive influences on them.

We shall see what happens, but there is a lot of opposition to the ban.

Frank ๐ŸŽธ

yeah, I know its Chinese, but it is kind of silly to ban it, because lots of people's income depends on it. Oh well, politics..

Exactly, and that's the biggest objection, Lizzy.

Frank ๐ŸŽธ

Awesome, Lizzy! I might venture to Pinterest at some point!

Keep succeeding!

Jeff
