Testing plagiarism, copyright infringement the easy way!

A very good friend of mine asked me to check his rewritten article he'd created from a news article. It brought back old school memories of how to check a rewrite if you've copied content from another site.

When I checked his rewrite, I totally forgotten that there are modern ways of checking plagiarism so I did it the old school way - drrr!

I never endorse copying from another site. However, sometimes you might be reading an interesting article and a couple of words might trigger an idea.

I know of a couple of free plagiarism sites that a very useful and these are:

http://www.plagium.com/plagiarismchecker.cfm

http://www.duplichecker.com/

Sometimes you can only use these a few times, so to get round this delete your cache using cCleaner or some other cleaner and it's good to go again.

There's probably more so feel free to add them in the comments for other users.

Old School Method

This is probably a bit of useless info here, but it brings back old memories of pre-plagiarism days, ie before you could check on sites like above.

Copy a sentence of your rewrite, not too long, close with quotation marks "xxxxxxx", put it into the Google search bar and press enter. Bold writing suggestings copyright, if there's loads of it then you'll know to rewrite that sentence.

I.E

"Enclose a sentence with quotations marks, put it in the Google search bar. This is about the right length"

What a pain staking way to check lol and WOW how things have changed!

Have a great day

Thank you for yr tips, Sharon. :)

You're welcome Jewel :)

A real good post.

Very helpful. Thank you.

These are wonderful tools!

It's always handy to have a checker to cover one's back door so to speak. Thanks Lady may. I must admit i used to think as long as you linked back to the original post with the credit, that more or less covered you?

Thank you Sharon. Content is uniques like we are uniques. Take a time to write original content to get ranking otherwise we just wasting time.

Hi Sharon, great blog, thank you. I was thinking of doing the same, only mine would have been a bit more of a rant and less informative! I clicked on two sites yesterday from WA members who posted URLs in the "feedback" thread who had basically copied and pasted from Kyle's howtolosebellyfattoday.com site. They need to read this blog! And also to understand that Google and other search engines will not rank their duplicate content. It's just plain lazy.
I am now off to research the correct way to cite in my articles, as I have not done this yet, but I would like to as I think it will increase the authority aspect.
Thank you again!

Hi, your site will gain respect from Google and from your readers as a result. I don't understand why people just copy and paste!

Me neither, Sharon. Makes my blood boil a little, as there is one overriding feature of all the success stories here, and that is plain hard work. If people haven't done their homework and aren't prepared to put in some effort to come up with unique content, then they are wasting their time, and mine too, by asking us for feedback.
OK, I'll get back in my box now... :)

Good article, I use Grammarly as my text editor Grammarly not only is it good for checking Spelling and Grammar it has a built in Plagiarism checker.

I sincerely hope everyone who reads this sees what a GEM of information it is! Plagiarism = no rankings = no money. What a quick and easy way to make sure our sites are clean. Thanks Lady May and best wishes!

Thanks for these resources. Bookmarked. I've been using the old school method. ~Marion
