Your Blog & Training is Getting GOOGLED!

As many of you are becoming quite aware of, Wealthy Affiliate content is now getting indexed in Google and this has raised many concerns.

I want to answer some of your main questions regarding indexing today and I want to help you understand why it gets indexed and the actual benefits of being indexed has on YOU, as the members of the WA community.

Question: If my content gets indexed, does anyone get credit for the referrals that it may generate?

Answer: The content author gets credit for all referrals that come naturally through their blog post or training resource. If someone comes to your blog post that is indexed, they click around and decide to join the 10 day trial, you will get credit for that as the author.

For example, I wrote a blog story the other day called “My Fat Burger Story”.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/kyle/blog/my-fat-burger-story

You will see that this is indexed in Google if you type in “my fat burger story” (as shown below).

If someone were to type that into Google, visited my blog post and decided to join WA because they liked my content, I would get credit for the “invite”. Then if they decide at some point to go premium, I would earn all the recurring commissions.

And here is the really awesome part. Say you wrote a piece that got picked up in the search engines and people started sharing it via email, via social, and directly through the link. You are going to get credit for all of these sales. In theory, a single blog post or article could end up earning you $1,000’s over time!

Many people are already starting to see “invites” from their content, which are turning into recurring commissions when many of these people are joining to become monthly ($22.50 per month commission) or yearly ($175 per year commission) members.

Question: Can I protect my content if I don’t want it to become shared?

Answer: Yes, within each blog post and and training resource that you create there is an option that allows you to “Turn Sharing Off”.

The only benefit to doing this would be if you want to keep a discussion going within the Wealthy Affiliate community online, which there may be definite circumstances for.

Just make sure you don’t lose out on the benefits of your content getting indexed by turning Sharing off.

Question: Can I leverage WA rankings to add any content?

Answer: No. If you are caught attempting to use WA as promotional platform and utilizing it to try to rank irrelevant keywords, then you may be subject to revoked posting privileges. Gamers will be prosecuted.

We allow content that is relevant to you offering value to others, helping others, or asking questions relational to your business. Basically anything that is not promotional and does not have ulterior motives. Play nice! :)

Question: Do you get credit for backlinks?

Answer: No. All of the links within WA are “no follow” meaning you will not get any backlink credit from the content you create if you link to your site. In fact, if you are attempt to promote a product or service through your blog or any content within WA, you will lose all “posting” privileges (chat, posting, comments, forum, private messaging).

This is something that we take very seriously and we do not give warnings. If you are caught, you will lose these privileges. Remember, when you post quality content and you post question in general and they get indexed, you are reaping the rewards from this content already.

Question: Can you post duplicate content within WA?

Answer: No. We are going to be checking all content for duplicate material and all duplicate content will be removed. Quoting people and other pages is OK, but copying and pasting content from another source into WA is not OK. This includes PLR content and PLR videos.

If you are a repeat offender of this and we find that you are continually posting content that is dupe, you may be subject to losing your posting privileges.

--------

I hope this answers all of your questions. We have waited until now to make these announcements because Wealthy Affiliate has just started getting indexed and people were starting to have a lot of questions pertaining to their content being indexed.

It is now more valuable than ever to post your content within WA and this is going to only get better over time. Post quality, valuable content and reap the rewards! ;)

If you have any questions about any of the points of I have discussed above, please let me know.

With everything being indexed now by google, how do blogs like this sit? https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jlouis99/blog/home-based-business ??

This was what I was thinking/worrying about when Kyle said Google's now indexing WA. People are going to be writing blog posts to leverage WA's "weight" and get their articles on page 1.

I have deleted that post. It is not appropriate. We are going to be on careful watch for things like this and as I stated, if we find people abusing the system and not using it in a natural way (like you mentioned), they are going to lose all posting privileges.

Glad to hear it Kyle. So it's fine to you keywords in your title so long as the post isn't a "Sales Page" and that the post is interesting/helpful to the community?

This was something that got me going "Oooo this could be bad" when I first read the WA was going to be getting indexed

Wow, this is really cool. Thanks for the update.

An added benefit to being active within the WA community

Absolutely. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will reap the rewards over time. :)

This sounds awesome Kyle! I have been thinking about creating my own website to promote WA. I think now I'll just create blog posts inside WA instead :)

Yeah, you could definitely do this or you could do both. We have a system coming that will facilitate a lot of opportunity within an external site as well, but for now you could definitely consider writing any relevant, helpful content within WA. :)

I am doing the same thing myself, I'm going all in with WA and I have to say the results have been great so far. I have 13 recruits this month and I get new ones on a regular basis. I enjoy helping the people here and I have no desire to keep an external blog on IM.

Not saying an external site is a bad thing of course I just think WA is pretty much the authority on IM and I would rather just keep it all here. I am giving up the ability to use affiliate links but I think I gain a lot more from WA so that equals out for me.

This is not my main niche either so the convenience factor is a really big deal for me. I have to say to Kyle & Carson what you guys are doing with WA is really awesome. You've made it stupid easy for me to make even more money =)

Ty, definitely appreciate your feedback and your direction., This really is just the start, I know I always say this, but I think that you are going to appreciate where evolved to in the coming weeks, month and year.

Keep up the great work buddy!

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing both. Like Ty, I don't plan on having IM as one of my big niches, but I think having an external site, even an authority site, could be good. Can just write a short article about a relevant blog post or training on WA to put on my own site with a link to WA to that blog post or article.

I think that could get many referrals, providing I get the traffic. If not, writing within WA would help. Writing two or three separate articles/blog posts, one for my own site, one for WA and maybe one for somewhere like StreetArticles or Squidoo, using the same keyword shouldn't be too difficult.

Plus I like the sound of WA Authorship, so I will be trying to help even more people out on here now :D

Great work Kyle and Carson! Looks like WA could explode with members now that posts from inside are getting ranked!

Yeah, content internally or externally could be used to attract people to Wealthy Affiliate now. Some will greatly benefit from their external sites, some will be able to leverage the content within WA nicely, and some will benefit from both.

Lots of people out there that are looking for information related to the industry and a lot of people that would definitely be interesting in being part of WA. The opportunity is truly unlimited in a sense that who doesn't want to start something of their own and to work online these days! :)

We have something really awesome coming for attracting more referrals and bridging the process of external sites that will be rolled out next week. Will keep you all updated!

I may be thinking about this from the wrong point of view and I am new to this, but I often see affiliate programs with caveats such as "cannot promote a product or service". I thought that this was the whole point of writing for an income. You are trying to convince the visitor to make a purchase ... am I wrong? What is backlinking? Is that like me putting a URL in a comment like this to promote other services?

This is referenced to any content that you add here. The purpose of the content on your website could be to sell. However content here should not be a promotion, it should be related to your efforts within the Internet business niche or questions that you may have.

Just googled a few of my blog posts and they sure showed up in Google. Awesome another great feature in WA. Thanks guys!!

Yeah, it is going to work out very well for regularly contributors. Just continue going about your normal day to day business, blogging and adding training and you will naturally get indexed and reap the rewards (outside of helping, networking and being able to interact within the community).

This does clear up a few things, thank you.

Perfect Ty! :)

So... If this is a silly question, forgive me, but what if someone places a link in their blog post which is intended to draw comments rather than sales? Suppose someone says 'hey, tell me what you think about this page that was just put up, How can it be made better?' Would that cause a problem?

That would be OK if your sole intention was not to leverage the blog to get traffic to that page. If your are asking for an honest review that is more than OK. ;)

Not sure if this is new or not, but I never realized the training/blog author would get credit (via search traffic) without a custom link.

Tested this morning and it worked fine, thanks Kyle/Carson

This was newly added Craig. When we originally rolled out the "Sharing" capabilities we required there to be a share link to get credit for your referrals but that didn't make sense for SEO. Now, when you get indexed in Google your content will get you a referral. Glad you like!

Sigh. I do like WA ... Hmmm.

Thanks Kyle for clarifying the the indexing issue and addressing the "duplicate" content
point. Thanks

No problem, glad I could clarify these things for everyone here. I think that many people are going to find new found benefits to creating content here at WA because of this post. Getting indexed and reaping the rewards from your content will be an entire business for some I am sure. ;)
