Emulators And Innovators vs Imitators

Hey Friends

I thought this would be a short post, it grew, out of control. However, I think you'll enjoy it :)

~A Dedication

First off I'd like to dedicate this post to Robert (Boomergp08), who often goes out of his way to help, here @ WA

~Emulators and Innovators

It was in the 1400s that Leonardo Da Vinci attempted to emulate nature's ability to create wonders, and set out to draw the very first blueprints to what today we take for granted; the Helicopter. Based on his intense observations of the hummingbird, he laid out plans which would grab the imagination of future generations, those who in a not so distant past, were regarded as mere dreamers.

Imitators, Copy cats, Fakes and Forgers

One of my passions is to study Human Nature, and in my humble opinion 97% of people come from a good place. However we do at times fall under the influence of the remaining 3%, as they have a cunning way of rising to the top. So goes the saying "bad news travels fast".

There are very few who actually purposefully copy, steal someone's hard work or intentionally plagiarize, and even hurt others. with conscious intent. In most cases, mistakes are made from an innocent desire to emulate something or someone that has struck a chord, that has made us think, or has contributed to our success. As I've stated, the vast majority of individuals do indeed come from a natural place of altruism.

Yes there are an extreme few who do plagiarise, or steal for personal gain, and though they might achieve success, this success is often short lived..

Emulating and Innovating

Leonardo Da Vinci, Beethoven, Howard Hughes, Andy Warhol, even the Legendary John Lennon emulated someone, and John was not afraid to admit it when he told the world "Nothing really affected me until I heard Elvis. If there hadn't been Elvis, there would not have been the Beatles"

We all use influencers as props, or guiding lights to create. You might also be surprised to find out that John Fogerty, lead singer of CCR was inspired by Hank Snow. We all build on an emotional response to those we admire and learn from, if we didn't, we'd be constantly re learning how to start a fire from a flint and stone.

Building your Dream @ WA

Heck, imagine the crowd as they gathered to watch the Wright brothers, as they snickered and whispered amongst themselves: Hey watch these two crazy guys break their necks.

So next time someone tells you, "hey, that'll never work, made money yet? Just smile, and remind yourself;

There are two kinds of people, "those sitting, watching and criticizing from the stands, then there are those out there on the playing field". Ya, I mean you, the Innovator and emulator :)

Enter WA

In 2005 two young guns made their appearance online, I highly doubt that they even realized at the time, what influence their website would have, and how it would not only change the way online business is evolving, but also how many people would find success through their innovation, intelligence and hard work. Ya, you guessed it, I'm talking about Kyle and Carson, and of course WA

What a gift, or opportunity to have the privilege of sharing in the awesomeness of it all, in not only what we are offered here at WA, and what we choose to do with it, but also in the fact that we are all on the playing field, everyone contributing to the future, to our future.

A New Year's Resolution

Don't pay attention to those sitting, and spewing from the stands. Keep Innovating, Creating and striving towards your Dream. Keep your eye on the ball :) If you feel down, you know you can reach out to someone here at WA we've all been there.

That's all for now Folks

Wishing everyone Happiness and Success in the New Year

Joseph

I cannot swallow that Beethoven emulated somebody, this would be against his nature, and the same holds for Leonardo. Those were true thinkers and I would not use their names speaking about emulators, there are much better examples.

Emulating is not imitating in the same sense as is meant in a vulgar plagiarized imitation. :)
Everyone emulates someone, It's a natural human response.especially during the formative years. Who was it that touched Leonardo, or Beethoven so much that they chose at one point in their life to emulate? (not copy or imitate)
Our passions are driven often at a young age, by someone who we look up to, and emulate in some way :)
Again, let's not confuse "Emulating with Copying, imitating or plagiarizing"
Glad you brought this up, as the meaning can be confused, the English language can sometimes be tricky:)
Thank you Jovo
Happy Holidays :)

Not my native in any case. Best wishes.

Of course if we emulate, we inadvertently imitate, however not in the sense of "a plagiarized imitation". We can Emulate Ghandi, or Christ, and we are "imitating by default", just as Gibran Emulated Christ, and Lanza Del Vasto emulated Gandhi.this carries a different meaning, or dedication of term if you like.

When we emulate something or someone, just as Leonardo emulated nature, this is part of our natural instinct., without it there would or could be no growth.
As for Beethoven, he emulated Mozart, yet he didn't copy or imitate in a plagiarizing sense. Something in Mozart's work touched him, and he built on that, emulated and created from it.

Thanks so much, needed a good convo this morn Jovo :)

Well put Jozeph there is always at least one that has to try to put a downer on what people are doing.Hope you had a great christmas!

Thanks Clive, hope you're having a wonderful holiday season
Joseph
