Today was a big day, we finally got our crowdfunding launched!

Woo Hoooo!!

It has been officially 27 days since we signed the crowdfunding contract with the client, and 29 days since I first would privy you by writing a post about my crowdfunding endeavors.

There were at least 7 conference calls that took place over the span of the past 4 weeks, but given the rare opportunity to be chosen as the official assistant to this crowdfunding campaign for this independent award-winning film was such a fantastic learning process.

Truly an amazing experience that I will able to apply and replicate for many other future crowdfunding campaigns!

How We Did Our Crowdfunding

We built and launched our crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, a platform that I would highly recommend you look into if you are interested in doing crowdfunding. They are highly reputable and have been around a long time.

Although I cannot go into all the specific details at the moment, I can show you a few screenshots of what our crowdfunding entails.

The crowdfunding is for an independent award-winning film that will be debuting in NYC late October. The film will be screened for 6 consecutive days at a local movie theater, each day with one afternoon matinee, and one evening showing.

Our goal is to raise $8000 over the next 45 days, which will allow us to raise enough capital to expand this film for a one-week showing in Los Angeles. We can expand our crowdfunding to 60 days while the campaign is in progress if needed.

60 days in the maximum length of any crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. 30 days is the minimum length.

The wonderful thing is that Indiegogo, will allow you to expand your crowdfunding raising efforts through a program called Indiegogo In-Demand for an indefinite time period should you meet your money goal within the 60 day time limit.

So should we exceed our money goal of $8000 (which includes all expenses), we can extend our campaign even possibly for years!

This indefinite raising opportunity would be an enormous boost for us, as we are looking to raise enough capital to expand this independent award-winning film to be shown in theaters of other major U.S. cities e.g., Chicago, Boston, Houston, etc., and also in secondary market cities across the U.S. such as San Francisco, Minneapolis, Santa Fe, etc.

Los Angeles is our #1 priority outside of New York City, because this major U.S. city embodies the problem that is most relevant to the documentary’s subject matter.

Looking further ahead, if this entire project performs even beyond those expectations, we may expand the film internationally.

We shall see.

If they should fall short of your crowdfunding money goal within the 60 days, the project owner will get to keep the money he/she raised after paying Indiegogo its fee, but they will not be allowed to continue your crowdfunding efforts for the same project unless you reopen a separate campaign.

Of course, after Indiegogo takes a small percentage of the proceeds, the crowdfunding project owner gets to keep the difference after paying all other expenses.

Components of a Crowdfunding Campaign

As you can see, your Indiegogo main crowdfunding campaign page encompasses the following 6 main components.

• The title of your crowdfunding campaign
  
• The name of crowdfunding project owner
  
• Your all-important Crowdfunding Pitch video

• Main narrative of "Overview" behind your crowdfunding, the “who, what, why, and where”
  
• “Perks” or optional incentives given to the donor (s) based on the amount they donate

• Reviews and testimonials of your product or service.
