As a 'newbie' I have been slowly getting to know this weird (to me) and wonderful world of building websites and adding affiliate links.

I have gotten used to searching

In addition to what Phil mentioned, you can also access the site content area - the website tab top menu.
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/content/new

I click the highlighted mountain button.

---
If you edited and published a document in site content, future edits must be done in WordPress. Site content and WordPress work independently.

I'd place my images in a document in site content and publish it to my site. It will be added to my WordPress media library. Then, delete the “temporary image” doc in the site content so it does not get indexed.

I use Pixabay for most of my free images, but there are lots of places that you can source them from.

Check out this post: You can also use AI sites such as ChatGPT4, Leonardo and Adobe Firefly to get images based on the description you supply.

I have seen some blogs / posts / pages on topics that not only include affiliate links .... but at the bottom of the article submits an Affiliate Disclosure statemen t.

I think I have had an Ephinay... ! The number of 'clicks' I see recorded on Amazon Central I think are the number of times someone has clicked on an affiliate link [but not purchased yet :(] as this (low) number is far less than the number of visitors that I see have been to my site as determined by Site Kit.

Would this be a correct appraisal?

Hi - yes, that's correct, and don't forget it will also record your own clicks, if you have been testing your links, etc.

Some affiliate vendors require a disclosure next to each link. Amazon is one. Most don't, but you should check their ToS.

I would also check out Kyle's resource

It should be clearly visible in the primary menu. Disclosure is typically a page.

You also need a shorter disclosure as close as possible to the first affiliate link in a post, either above or below the link.

For Amazon, it has to say "as an Amazon Associate I may earn from qualified purchases" and this has to be directly above your first Amazon link in post.

Abie.... FANTASTIC advice ... thank you SO much....!!

I have just begun to get clicks in increasing number as - with the aid of a friend of mine I am learning an exotic - new to me skill "like SEO optimization" etc . lol... so getting paid is why I am here....

Thanks again !!!

No, James, please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks to the advice you have given me I have updated all my pages with affiliate links with an Affiliate Disclosure statement :)

That's FABULOUS James :) Glad to HEAR it...;

Is an affiliate disclosure needed on every post or just on the overall website ?

I was sharing my website on Sales Training with a friend at church today ... having revised and tweaked it & adding affiliate links to Amazon Products... and his comment wa

Hi James

I usually embed videos for informational posts, but I try to avoid them for product reviews because I want to keep the reader on my post until they click on my affiliate link.

Frank 🎸

Awesome response here, Frank :)

Thanks, Abie!

Have a fabulous week! 😎

You're welcome, Frank :) Thanks.

That's a very good point Frank.... I will choose to do the same!

Thanks, James. 😎

Hey James,

I've been hearing the same excuses from many too, of late.

The "new" thing with videos is to be able to keep it to a limit of 8 minutes.

So... what has been advised for sometime now is to create a YouTube account, write your post and then embed your video on the same topic.

This way, you're apt to get ranked for your website post AND your YouTube video... providing you use the basic SEO with both your website and your YouTube channel and videos.

Even podcasts are becoming the "thing" due to many listening to podcasts while traveling to and from work daily.

Hope you find this helpful.

That's a very good insight Trish... I am a real newbie at this business.... however ... I am getting 'clicks' on my website (now if ONLY they would buy stuff lol!)

Thanks for your input!!

Many YouTubers have stated that they earn a LOT through their videos.

So, you might want to keep that in mind... just a thought.

Hi 👋 James! Invideo has a text to video creation option. I’ve used it and it’s pretty good. Let’s you tweak it and add your own pics. You could try that and add a “button” at the top of your blog with the words “if you’d prefer to watch a video” or something similar is an option. 👍

Great advice there Holly

Any cross-promotion between platforms is a good thing. However, different people have different preferences. I will always prefer to read over watching a video.

I have the same attribute as you, Phil :) But sometimes videos show a different perspective.

Of course. I just find it both more enjoyable and more convenient to read. I understand that I'm probably in the minority.

You can't please all of the people, all of the time. Start with using words and then when you start getting organic traffic, then is the time to learn how to make YouTube videos. That would be my advice.

Thank you Catherine... However I was thinking about using a pre-made video clip.... something that had already been made... to add another 'dimension' to my post (and help motivate product sales)

I read your post. When you send someone to an embedded video you are sending them out of your site. And that in my opinion is not good, it may well add an extra dimension, but it also adds a reason for them to leave your content

That's an excellent point! Are there any legal pitfalls that I need to be aware of?

Not quite sure what you mean by legal pitfalls in what. You are welcome to ask again if I miss the point. Every youtube video has to be able to be shared, that is their terms and conditions. Technically although youtube does allow you to upload a private video, their TOC's say it must be able to share it

Search Engine Optimization

When I entered the details of one of my websites on Bing I couldn't find it... yet when I put the same information into Google it was there.... instantly?

You have FANTASTIC responses here; kindly let us know if you require additional assistance.

Hey James, if you want to be impressed with a search engine, try asking DuckDuckGo dot com your question.

I've learned to depend on THAT search engine whenever I'm seeking a technical help with software, as that search engine provides answers on page ONE... whereas with Google, I have to keep tweaking my query and STILL never get the help I was looking for.

When seeking Google rankings is when I use Google. For all other help now, I seek DuckDuckGo. Their search engine is a LOT more helpful to their users.

Hope you find this helpful.

Bingbot and Googlebot are separate pieces of software and, while there are undoubtedly many similarities, they were created independently by different teams and so will work differently at different times.

They have different indexing and search criteria. Both do their own thing. Bing is more word-specific whereas Google is more let me guess what you mean.

For example, if you were to search for my site, Setting Points in Google you would be served everything you would want to know about Setting Points on a '57 Tbird.

Go to BING, Yahoo, and other minor search engines, Search for Setting Points, my site is #1.

The latter is a faster indexing process.

I hope this helps.

I find the same thing with my website schooltriumph.com!

I get an almost instant response from Google…. But it’s buried in Bing 🙄

Bing is Microsoft; usually, Bing indexes first.

I am 'cool' with revealing my ignorance in this field of on-line ma

Categories have no effect on rankings. They are a way of grouping related blog posts together. You can have Categories as an item on your header menu to help visitors navigate.

That's awesomeness, Phil :)

Categories don't really rank on Google, it's just there to help people navigate your site better so think about the audience. Take a niche like affiliate marketing and here's some category ideas for you:

Simple stuff like that works fine

But the categories do get indexed

Indexing and ranking are 2 different things Mark. Indexing does not mean they show up when people do keyword searches. That's where your content comes into play.

Correct

That's awesomeness, Vitatliy :)
