It's looking pretty good, you can find a theme where you can create columns so that you can display the books in a grid. Or you can learn how to use short codes which will allow you to do the same thing.
I would create a post for each book and a review of some sort for each one and then include a link to the book. You can then create categories for your books. You can categorize them anyway you like or with multiple categories. Something such as "free books" would be a good category.

So what you are suggesting is that I create a post for each book? I like this idea because I can add more content for each one, perhaps like a summary, or review type of thing.
I've thought about this before, although how would I create the page so that it shows a blog roll of this particular "free ebooks" category? This would be similar to the Home page, but be filtered according to said category then.

When I try and edit a page in my WP Admin area, it is blank. The webpage load and I can see all the other goodies, such as the page title, right hand widgets, SEO settings below et
Not sure why this happens, did you try updating it again. I have had to take and create a new page before and move the information and then remove the other page.
