WordPress Importing Issues

So after a few months of unemployment, I'm back and in full swing! I had to cancel my WA Premium membership and just before my website was deleted from WA hosting, I made a backup.
Although, when I tried to import my XML backup file, I got errors regarding the media files! How frustrating - I can see my blog posts but all other things are missing, like affiliate links, banners, theme, custom menus etc. It doesn't even look like the same site anymore.
I need some urgent help!
Did I perhaps do something wrong?
