I Can't Believe I Am Still Here
I received my three-year dedication badge this morning.
This anniversary snuck up on me. I never expected to stay this long.
I joined Wealthy Affiliate in 2016 to validate my accumulated training over the years. At the time, I did not know what I didn't know about website development and online marketing.
I started my internet marketing adventure in the last century. I developed my websites using an HTML editor like Kompozer. They were very rudimentary compared to what we can do now. Also, I wrote a marketing ebook in 2000 that I still see popping up on aggregator sites once in a while.
When I joined Wealthy Affiliate, my objective was to find gaps in my knowledge. So I worked through the Online EntrepreNuer Certification (OEC) course step-by-step watching every video and compLeting every task without skipping around.
Wealthy Affiliate has the best online affiliate marketing training. Period.
I can say that because I have taken lots of training in the last 20 years, including:
- I read Dr. Evoy's 1999 book, "Make My Site Sell" and became a Site Build It! member. I have occasionally spoken with Dr. Evoy by phone. Total time was a couple of hours.
- I read Roz Gardner's 2005 book, "The Super Affiliate Handbook: How I Made $436,797 in One Year Selling Other People's Stuff Online
- I took the Affilorama training and built a profitable niche site.
- I bought and read Corey Rudl's "Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on the Internet." (Corey was an amazing guy who was tragically killed in a 2005 car crash. He was riding in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT on a race track where the car left the track and hit a barrier.)
The best free training is Affilorama's Pathway to Passive guide and 120 hours of video basic training. (The constant upsell offers are annoying.)
The best step-by-step book is the SBI! Action Guide.
However,
The Wealthy Affiliate Unique Selling Point is (or should be) the Wealthy Affiliate Community. The willingness of members to help one another in a spam-free environment is unmatched anywhere else.

Regrettably, I am familiar with all those courses you mentioned. But in 2005 I lived in fear of taking action.
So when I found WA I was (and still am!) delighted at the quality of the training and I look forward to similar milestones.

Site-Build-It (Solo-Build-It) Guide? Interesting indeed! Is this guide freely available out there?

The guide is included with membership. There are probably older copies of the guide available online. But I would be hesitant to download any.
SBI is pretty old-school. I was a member, once. It would seem to me a similar/better online guide could be constructed here at WA. However, things seem to change a lot also!
Hi Glen, I was a member of Site Build It back in the day also. It was the first genuine IM program I came across.
That’s where I learned how to build websites and do local marketing.
I left because one account hosted only one website and they didn’t support WordPress.
But Wealthy Affiliate is by far the best system for developing an online business. Plus the fact that you get 25 websites plus staging environments.

SBI now has SBI! for WP. If I were to leave WA, I would get Solo Build It for WP just for the "Brainstorm It" functionality
