Hi. I believe that different themes can do it differently, but what I have used is to go to site manager>appearance>customize>header image>add new image>save an publish. I hope this helps.
Thanks very much. I will let my website developer know. He's having difficulty converting my Joomla site to WP because I want it to look the same.

Hey George,
Depending on the theme you use ... and how you want your posts/pages to appear in social media ... you might want to seriously consider using Featured Image option within WordPress.
How to use Featured Images: https://youtu.be/L_4crhIoXfY
Any code you want to add in tweaking a WordPress theme, it is recommended that you install and use a child theme so that future updates to your theme will NOT overwrite you tweaks. One-Child Child Theme by tychay I have found that most social media accounts prefer a header image 600 x 315 (or a ratio that can easily be adjusted to this size).
Hope this helps.

Hi WAers…
I have a technical question regarding transferring a Joomla site to Wordpress. I’ve hired a website designer at rates I can afford, but even he is
Hi George
In order to have the same menu like the old site, you need to purchase a WP theme that has the same menu style you're looking for. Let the theme developer know you want a specific menu style. A developer can give you a custom code to add to the theme.
A premium theme costs about $50.
Or your designer can create a custom WP theme from scratch. This is more expensive, and it will take days or weeks to finish. A designer can customize the menu in header.php file.
I noticed that the old site menu isn't responsive. The menu doesn't fit the mobile screen.
Peter
Hi Peter, thanks for your reply...
Yes my designer has found a WP theme and this is what he's done so far:
http://vgwebstudio.org/wp/balansoul/blog/
compared to the original site www.balansoul.com.au
I knew all along the transition to WP would involved changes to the layout. As long as it still looks good.
I know the current Joomla version is not mobile responsive, but once the transition to WP is complete...it will be a responsive design.
What do you think of the transition so far compared to the Joomla version design?
I've never used Joomla before. WP is so popular because it compatible with many plugins, themes and web browsers.
I'd be happy to take a look when a new site is ready.
Have a nice day!
It's going to look different but this should help with the menu Drop Down Drag and Drop Menu With Custom Links and Non-Clickable Headings
Hi Marion,
Thanks so much for replying. I paid $$$ to a website developer in 2010 to develop www.balansoul.com.au and they didn't give me an option of CMS. I didn't know anything about WP back then.
Since joining WA...wow I know all the mistakes I've made along the way! ... Yes I do worry about the difference in design from Joomla to WP. I love the drop down menu on the home page here: www.balansoul.com.au
I'll provide your link to my designer and see how it goes. Thanks again, Marion. I appreciate it.

Hi - a video is just a link - it takes up no space (little space) on your website, and the bandwidth is taken up between the viewers computer and the video hosting website (Vimeo, YouTube etc).
So you could have 1000's of videos on your website - but as long as they are just links to the videos on the hosting sites, then you'll be fine.
Cheers, Mark
Thanks for responding Mark. But they are not links, I've downloaded the videos then uploaded into a website. That website is Joomla, and such a broad topic I'm narrowing it down to one niche and using WP, but will still need to upload 200+ videos into the new Wordpress site here on WA. So just wondering if it can handle the large space it will take up. Or whether I need to get hosting elsewhere to cope with the gigs.
Ah ok - as a suggestion, if you've got permissions to download and upload them again - then why not upload to YouTube or similar, and then they can deal with all of the web space and bandwidth issues that you may eventually run into with a hosted website.
Many have been deleted and are a few years old. There are too many to send for permission. If I am asked to remove them I'll do it so it's easier to just upload them from my previous site and get slapped on the wrist if I'm doing the wrong thing. I'll happily remove a video if requested. But most are motivational, non-profit videos to help people with depression, grief, etc. So it should be fine. I just need to know what is the maximum space we have here at WA for one website.
No haven't received an answer yet at all as to the gigs allowed on WA websites. I find the few Questions I've posted on WA yields very few responses, 3-4 at the very least. It's a bit of a downer, and I feel uncomfortable sending privates to Kyle since he's so busy. But it seems like I'll have too. Thanks upsgirl for your support I appreciate those that do care.
You're welcome! Kyle is busy but he will get back to you!
I see you haven't asked Support yet. They are the ones that can give you your answer. Try it now...

Thanks upsgirl, i tried to post again but it didn't allow it, suggesting 'you've already posted the same question'. Seems like I'll have to send message to Kyle. Thanks so much :)
They respond right away. If you did, you would have received a response. You would be the first to not have received a response. Try again...you're missing something.
Trust me...ask now...you'll have an answer shortly.
You're welcome!
Go into your Dashboard and near the top, you'll see Performance. There are so many numbers...surely, you'll find your answer.
If not, contact Support.
I know 2 others doing the same thing and they aren't having issues.
Yes this time the message went through. Thanks so much for your encouragement with this. You are wonderful :)

Hi everyone. I joined WA 2 months ago and it's been a slow start so far. Meanwhile, I've noticed I'm getting traffic (about 1,000 a week) from an information site I started in
I would definitely have some related affiliate products on this site why waist traffic. I did check your site out George and I might add it looks very well put together, I read the first post I came to and realized it would be hard for me to give you any product recommendations on that particular topic but you could tie in eye health in general.
I took a quick peek on Amazon and saw a few books you could tie in might want to check out "Market health" to see what they offer, you might be able to include something from them, people with dry eyes might want some eye wear options, clearly contacts I believe has an eye wear affiliate program. Hope that is of some help, cheers Mike.
you have a few options really.
1. Affiliate marketing - link out to related affiliate products
2. Google Adsense
3. Sell the site on
4. Rent out advertising to a company
5. Email marketing
Yes I'm interested in renting out advertising to a company. How do I organize that? Is there a website with listed companies who want their website displayed?
research... google is your friend.. you will need to look for a company that has your sites target market in mind.. Then its as simple as sending an email or video sales letter.. contact 10 and hope for 1
