So, I'm still figuring out this social media thing. Last night I was on Facebook, and I started getting a lot of friend requests. This morning I had a lot more.

I just looked at your WA profile. Looks like you've added your Facebook link for people to follow you. This can be a reason why you get so many friend requests.
You can always check if you know them from WA or from somewhere else. If you are friends with other WA members on Facebook, you can always check if you have mutual friends with the one who sent you a request.
Most likely it's someone from WA who saw your Facebook link on your profile or saw you as a mutual friend with others in their friends' list.
But that's not only with WA members. In general, the more friends you follow, the more friend requests you'll get. For many people it's enough to see you're a mutual friend of their friends to send you a request.
Same goes for groups. If you participate in groups, you'll get a good amount of friend requests from group members.
At the end of the day, you decide which ones to accept or to decline.
Happy networking. I just sent you a request. :)
Yeah, I usually look at the number of mutual friends. If we have a lot of common friends then hopefully they're OK.
I have been trying to post more to groups lately also.
I'll be happy to accept your request the next time I get on FB.
Thanks Nicole.
I add fishermen all the time. I sent the requests to begin with. Now they come in after I post content.
Do be careful who you accept. I click over to their profile first. If they only have 1 or 2 posts, it's most likely a fake account.
Always verify, the request is from a genuine individual, but we are in the business of attracting traffic to our page(s) and with that there is a risk that some of our visitors are not real.
The more friends you have the more news-feeds your post show up on. The more your post show up the more friend request you receive.
Yes check each one and make sure they are legitimate profiles as about 25% of the ones I get are fake profiles with only a couple of post.
Yes, I usually check out their post, and if there isn't much there, I don't follow. Good to know I'm doing the right thing.
Thank you.
Sounds like you are and the more friends you have the more newsfeeds you show up on so it all works together.

What's the deal with all the friend requests?

When I get friend requests from people I don't recognize, I check for the number of mutual friends. I look at the mutual friends and about all of them are fellow WA members, so I accept the request. I accept only if there are mutual friends. If it's a brand new FB account, I don't accept.

Do forms not work with free websites?
