Hello I am a retired Government of Canada employee. Through my employment I have had the opportunity to travel north, south, east and west of Canada. While on these trips I always found time to visit entertainment centres where a live band was either playing the music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. In particular Rhythm and blues (R&B), Soul, Disco, the Blues and Jamaican music. Don't get me wrong I like all types of music, including Rock from the same time period. I have been in love with music from a very young age and that love affairs continues. It is probably one of the only things I will not retire from.
My hobbies are reading, mostly books on African, African-American and Jamaican history, crime and legal novels, martial arts history and novels; cooking, watching movies, especially those made in the 1930s and The Godfather One and Two; and of course listening to music. The genre of music tends to change with my mood, but most of the time it is classic "Lover's Rock", Reggae R&B and Soul.
My life time study is Japanese Karate, which I have studied and taught for the past 45 years.
I guess you can say I am a continuous learner and this is a new adventure that I am looking forward to pursueing.

HI Harvey, thank you for your comments and backing me up re the lady with the plug ins. I have been coping a fair amount of abuse on live chat and private message today and your comments restored my faith in people. I love music myself and in fact my girlfriend and I were the first female duet in Australia singing around the pubs and clubs in the 60's. I also play piano and have two guitars that I am struggling with.
Great to meet you and again thank you for your support

That is one of the reasons I have stayed away from the Live Chat. I venture in every once and a while and you do meet some very nice people. Then there are some who normally I would not converse with, but it takes all sorts. What kind of music did you two play?

Yes well I was shattered because I have spent more time encouraging and support the new people and not working on my websites as often as I should because I have full time work outside of WA even though I do it all from home
I play classical music, Chopin, Beethoven - that ilk but my baby grand piano is still in storage after the debacle of the GFC but am gradually getting back on my feet.

My about me relating to the niche is from the heart.. In the future & there will be as i am loving this.. When i diverse into other products, how do i be as knowledgeable or passionate ??? Do i lie/blag it ? just a question i felt the need to ask,lol... Well in 12 hours time i will be a Premium Black Friday member... have a great day my friend... Ant

Hello Anthony, never lie. It becomes hard to remember what that lie is about. Remember to get conversions your target audience has to trust you and you cannot build trust on a lie. You might say that you have always had an interest in the topic/niche and you are going to bring them along as you research and write about your findings. Some thing like that. Going Annual through Black Friday is the way to go. I did it two years ago and have no regrets. Saving about half the regular annual fee.

Hello Ron, I do remember the Buckinghams “Kind of a Drag.” Those were the days of The Rascals and Tom James. Never did master an instrument, but DJ’s for a few years especially during the Dance era.
Ranking is a type of motivator to get you more involved within the community, blogging, helping others and welcoming new members. It does absolutely nothing to your bottom line and it has nothing to do with earnings.

I am learning that TRUST is important value to your clients and I have to earn that. How do I earn their trust, writing reviews and blogs/info or advice on products I have not seen or have experience with ?
Is it best to only give my advice in general terms about the product or is it best to have some sort of first hand experience with the products ?
How do you earn trust when I am starting out ?
I am only on Lesson 7 of the first training module, and I am trying to prepare for my website.

Hello Bruce, trust is earned over time with consistency in your posting, and researching. To review products you do not have to acquire all of them. You do however, need to research what others are saying about the product and provide a post that reflects what others are saying. It would be better if you personally have reviewed the product or service but sometime that is difficult.

Hello Jen, no I have not travelled to the Southern Hemisphere to date. The closes I have come is Korea and Japan. I have met and worked with one or two New Zealanders and enjoyed the experience.
Did listen to two songs by Maisey Rika and Stan Walker. Both have interesting rhythms. Cannot say much for the words, because of the language barrier. It is always amazing how music is so universal.
I have seen the All Blacks and recently the women’s team perform their opening ceremony (Haka), not live but on the tube. Always fascinating to see the true meaning of team.

It is interesting that you have a vast interest in all genre of music, as one of our son's Sheldon at a very early age, loved to play music in his bedroom pretending to have his own radio station. Even at the age of 10/11 he had his own record deck and started doing children's birthday parties, developing to being DJ at various night clubs and before he could drive, my wife and I became his "roades" taking him an his disco equipment all over Yorkshire. He soon got into television. He now is a TV producer, producing TV documentaries for Disney with his offices in London and New York

Hello Rebecca, the Godfather series was classic yet unique on so many fronts. Marlon Brando had to actually convince them that he was the Do. The scene on the bridge was to use a new approach to Sonny’s massacre and the first two followed the book fairly close. The third was a mixture of the current news at the time. The Vatican Banking scandal, the supposed suicide of the banker and the involvement of the Illuminati. Acting was still superb but not as good as the first two.

Hello Sue, sorry for the slow response, but I had to think about what would be the best course of option to respond. Your niche or passion should be something that you can write about. It can be one of the two subjects you mentioned. Find an area in either one and go from there. One of Kyle’s suggestions, and I used it to find my niches, is to plugin your key words in to Jaaxy and see what comes up or use Google. I hope you are taking advantage of the courses and the tasks that goes with them. Most of us started out going through those. Good luck

Hello Walthyt, thanks for your follow. When I joined Wealthy Affiliate (WA) I did not have any Affiliate Marketing skills. I did not even know what it was. I have not really failed being here, because I am still learning. I have not seen any profit, because that was not my reason for joining WA. I am retired so I needed to find ways to occupy the time that would be wasted watching television or something mundane. There are approximately four million people online, not all of them are into Affiliate Marketing. Like any business, there will be competition. Example would be burgers. How many of them are out there selling the same product and are being successful. To create a strong business you have to put in the time and it is hard work. It does not happen over night. If there is one thing I can give to you it is advice. Don’t make money the reason you are at WA. You will be disappointed if you expect immediate returns. Most brick and mortar business take more than five years to see a profit.

My father was a actor and singer who performed in movies and television prior to his broadcasting career. He majored in physics and chemistry because his parents wanted him to become a doctor. After completing his degree, he started his career as a recording engineer in the radio to get in to show business. He loved show business but you don't have much of a family life. Hello Neelofar, like anything that we do if we want to be good takes practice. Your father sounds like someone that fully understood that concept. When I had a mobile disco, there was never a weekend that was not spent in the basement listening to new and old music to see how they could be blended. Wealthy Affiliate is the same. You have to spend the time getting use to the concepts of research, writing and managing the website.

Hi Harvey. My mother's favorite saying to me (almost daily). Count the day lost you didn't learn anything. I've lived 84 years doing my best to do that. Tried to no avail to instil it into my 3 children. They all wish they had listened today. Tried with grandchildren. They already know everything. Lol
Thank you for following me and I follow you back. Keep the learning daily in mind. It's rewarding.

Hello Mike, I am not that knowledgeable about smartphones or tablets, only how to use them. That said however, the main thing about starting an online business is that you are passionate about the niche. Harvey, thanx for the follow. Being new to this internet situation I can only guess at the future I will have in the digitized world. I have a 32 yr old son in the Navy that likes to blow up stuff electronically, which is only right as he built 7 computers before he got out of high school. I was born in the year of Sputnik, so none of this world existed for me. Having to continuously learn is a fact of digital life, at least for me.

Hello Penny, thank you for the compliment. My site is yet to make any passive income or any income at all. That is my fault, not working on this as hard as I should, but then again I began this to keep an active mind busier than it is already. Making money would be nice but not the focus of my time on Wealthy Affiliate (WA). Having fun and using time at home on something I love are my goals.
I did visit your site and I love the theme and the niche is interesting. One suggestion I might have, which is not unique, is to add some graphics to the posts. A picture really does save on words, it can also enhance those words and make them richer. Merry Christmas Penny to you and your family.

I hope you return to my site sometime in the future. My goal is to explore the supplements my husband took before, during, and after his cancer treatment. There are many natural herbs that can help the healing process.

Enjoy your family and be safe this holiday season.

Hello Damo, my journey in Black music started a little before EW&F. My father and mother were big music lovers and had a collection of Jazz, Blues, R&B, Ska and Reggae. So it was a natural progression to love Soul music and Hip Hop at the beginning. I think the Godfather trilogy was a turning point in movie making so was Sam Pekinpah’s The Wild Bunch. I still watch the Godfather over and over.

Hello Shilpi, I do listen songs on youtube, but not religious ones. While I am spiritual I do not follow the doctrine of Jesus. It would be nice to really listen to Indian songs but like all other genre of music, both the instrumental and written words are important to fully understand the song, why it was written and the mood it is trying to provide. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi Harvey,

Thank You so much for adding me to your “Following”!!!

I feel you on the Music Bug!!! Started buying Beatles LP's with my paper route money when I was 7 (1965). And then took Classical Piano from 7-15 years old when piano gave way to high school sports!!!

Retired in 2011 and am in the process of teaching myself guitar - both acoustic & electric 6-string and have two 4-string bass guitars!!!

I like to listen to "everything" - also depending on my mood - people look at my iTunes Library and are amazed at all the different genres I listen to!!! ;-)

I have seen a lot of internet programs over the last 4 years and this looks and feels right!!!

I would greatly appreciate it if you would please let me know if there are any important tips that you think a “Newbie” like I am to WA can benefit from!!!

Best Wishes for Your Continued Success!!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Hello Kevin, yes the music bug did hit me and for several year I tried to play a string of instruments, piano, mouth harp, voice and guitar. I had minor success with all but like anything else practice is a must. I have never really been a Beatles fan, although the album Sargent Pepper's and a few after that. I am a Rolling Stones fan from day one, something about Sir Mick, Keith and Brian. I do listen to all music even hip hop today. While not impressed there are one or two artists that have original songs.
In terms of tips for Wealthy Affiliate, do the courses and lessons. Kyle and Carson have put together a very comprehensive lesson plan. The other thing is to complete the tasks with each lesson. Hey Luther, you must be close to my age, so one thing I will ask, do you remember the early days of Rock, especially the Rolling Stones? A lot of our parents thought that was the Devil's music. Where it has transitioned is both good and bad. I can't say I like all Hip Hop but some is quite good, some yes is both vulgar and close to porn. Yes I must definitely will do some Doo Wop. One of the great periods in modern vocals. If you have any favourites drop me an email. Always happy to play something I have not heard in a while.

Harvey, congratulations that's the way to retire, have a vacation when you can still can. We just don't forget where we came from, the source of everything that we may give the credit to Him the giver of our life. To do the things you love, you won't retire on that, especially music, We are in this WA where we can shout to the world the good things in life, the best way, share to the whole world what you have loved to do, it will be remembered. No one can take it from you. WA is where we have the liberty to work as a boss and enjoy it at the same time. Like work and play.

Hi Harvey,

Best of luck here at WA. I have been here 6 weeks, and have learned a lot, but I also learned that I have a lot to learn.

It is a fabulous community, and to me is such a blessing.

I wish you much success. Take care and God bless,
Mike

Interesting profile and what a great path you've followed. I'm also a music lover (but aren't we all to an extent...LOL!)The Japanese Karate sounds REALLY AWESOME!!! I love the kick butt martial arts type stuff but then again I'm a soldiergirl who was trained in hand to hand combatives so go figure, Right? lol!

I used to do Krav Maga training which is Israeli Street Fighting and it gave me an adrenaline rush. The thought of being able to take out 20 dudes or people all at once by myself was the reason I signed up for the training. Although I didn't get that far with the training, I did learn some basic fundamental self defense techniques.

Well nice to meet you Harvey. Take Care and thanks for reading my blog post!

Also thanks for the follow. Be blessed!

I am aware of Karl Magazine, it is interesting like Caporeira. I am still studying the hidden practices of my style, but one day I may checkout Krav Maga.

I read a lot too. Used to be religion, business and investing. I used to listen to music only in the background. We're pretty different huh:) :). I was into Qigong at one time. It came naturally to me and I was able to feel Qi flowing flowing through me when I practised Taiji with Qigong.
Nice site you've there. Cool

Thanks Larry, we are not that far. I still study spirituality. When I was working I studied business ad investing and still listen to music. I study Japanese martial arts which means basically the physical is first then we study the internal. A little different than Chinese martial arts that usually start with the internal and go to the external. Now that is a generalization but I think you understand. Thank you I am enjoying putting it together.
