Hello I am a retired Government of Canada employee. Through my employment I have had the opportunity to travel north, south, east and west of Canada. While on these trips I always found time to visit entertainment centres where a live band was either playing the music of the 50s, 60s and 70s. In particular Rhythm and blues (R&B), Soul, Disco, the Blues and Jamaican music. Don't get me wrong I like all types of music, including Rock from the same time period. I have been in love with music from a very young age and that love affairs continues. It is probably one of the only things I will not retire from.
My hobbies are reading, mostly books on African, African-American and Jamaican history, crime and legal novels, martial arts history and novels; cooking, watching movies, especially those made in the 1930s and The Godfather One and Two; and of course listening to music. The genre of music tends to change with my mood, but most of the time it is classic "Lover's Rock", Reggae R&B and Soul.
My life time study is Japanese Karate, which I have studied and taught for the past 45 years.
I guess you can say I am a continuous learner and this is a new adventure that I am looking forward to pursueing.

Thanks for the follow! I study history and also became interested in genealogy. Just thought I would mention because of your interest in history that you may want to tie genealogy in with your interest, you can look up records for free at familysearch.org

just created my web site today, kickbacked.siterubix.com hope you enjoy!

Hello Tim, I do dabble in my family's genealogy, but not on a full time basis. I will take a look at the reference you suggested.
Your website could do with a little colour, but it is a good start.

That was the next question I was going to ask, how do I give my blog posts some pop instead of looking so bland! Also thanks for the reply back!

It usually depends on the theme you use and what graphics you download. One software I use is called Canva.

Thanks! I will have to check it out, is there a weblink by chance?

Hi Harvey,

Thank You so much for adding me to your “Following”!!!

I feel you on the Music Bug!!! Started buying Beatles LP's with my paper route money when I was 7 (1965). And then took Classical Piano from 7-15 years old when piano gave way to high school sports!!!

Retired in 2011 and am in the process of teaching myself guitar - both acoustic & electric 6-string and have two 4-string bass guitars!!!

I like to listen to "everything" - also depending on my mood - people look at my iTunes Library and are amazed at all the different genres I listen to!!! ;-)

I have seen a lot of internet programs over the last 4 years and this looks and feels right!!!

I would greatly appreciate it if you would please let me know if there are any important tips that you think a “Newbie” like I am to WA can benefit from!!!

Best Wishes for Your Continued Success!!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Kevin

Hello Kevin, yes the music bug did hit me and for several year I tried to play a string of instruments, piano, mouth harp, voice and guitar. I had minor success with all but like anything else practice is a must. I have never really been a Beatles fan, although the album Sargent Pepper's and a few after that. I am a Rolling Stones fan from day one, something about Sir Mick, Keith and Brian. I do listen to all music even hip hop today. While not impressed there are one or two artists that have original songs.
In terms of tips for Wealthy Affiliate, do the courses and lessons. Kyle and Carson have put together a very comprehensive lesson plan. The other thing is to complete the tasks with each lesson. They will solidify what the lessons are trying to teach you. Last but not least ask questions. There are some remarkable people in the community and most of them are willing to help.

Thanks for following me. much appreciated.

Do you mind if I bounce a concept off of you?

I've been working on a project for affiliate marketers for a while now. I would appreciate your thoughts if you have the time.

Every now and then I would like to get the opinion of a wide variety of affiliate marketers, like a sanity check.

Would you mind if I share it with you?

Thanks
Dale

Thanks for the follow Harvey. I'm also into all kinds of music. I started playing the organ and piano when I was 8 years old. I had 13 years of lessons of being a musician. Use to play in bands years ago and always got into all kinds of music.
Just got started into WA and have alot of work to do to get my business going and I'm still working a day job. Hoping to retire in a couple of years from the Oil Refining business for a big Oil Company. Take care and talk sometime.

Harvey, How about a little "doo Wap":)

I'm like you, I love it all at certain times. Well, don't get mad, but I can do without hiphop. I just can't get into it. And their videos are close to Porn. Well, I've shown my age, I guess.

I like you and I'm gonna follow you. You sound like my kind of man.

Hey Luther, you must be close to my age, so one thing I will ask, do you remember the early days of Rock, especially the Rolling Stones? A lot of our parents thought that was the Devil's music. Where it has transitioned is both good and bad. I can't say I like all Hip Hop but some is quite good, some yes is both vulgar and close to porn. Yes I must definitely will do some Doo Wop. One of the great periods in modern vocals. If you have any favourites drop me an email. Always happy to play something I have not heard in a while.

Harvey, are you any kin to James, "I feel Good" Brown?:)
I could go on all day with those golden Oldies.
Maybe some time, later. It is so easy to get distracted on WA and not get anything done. I've set a goal to get my site up today.

Thanks for replying. Much success to you.

Wow Harvey. It is interesting to still see people who still like classic movies and music. I also love music and movies from the old time, both American and Egyptian. I love watching the God Father, James Bond movies, Rocky's movies and much more from different times. I like new music and new movies as well.

Harvey, congratulations that's the way to retire, have a vacation when you can still can. We just don't forget where we came from, the source of everything that we may give the credit to Him the giver of our life. To do the things you love, you won't retire on that, especially music, We are in this WA where we can shout to the world the good things in life, the best way, share to the whole world what you have loved to do, it will be remembered. No one can take it from you. WA is where we have the liberty to work as a boss and enjoy it at the same time. Like work and play.

Interesting profile and what a great path you've followed. I'm also a music lover (but aren't we all to an extent...LOL!)The Japanese Karate sounds REALLY AWESOME!!! I love the kick butt martial arts type stuff but then again I'm a soldiergirl who was trained in hand to hand combatives so go figure, Right? lol!

I used to do Krav Maga training which is Israeli Street Fighting and it gave me an adrenaline rush. The thought of being able to take out 20 dudes or people all at once by myself was the reason I signed up for the training. Although I didn't get that far with the training, I did learn some basic fundamental self defense techniques.

Well nice to meet you Harvey. Take Care and thanks for reading my blog post!

Also thanks for the follow. Be blessed!

I read a lot too. Used to be religion, business and investing. I used to listen to music only in the background. We're pretty different huh:) :). I was into Qigong at one time. It came naturally to me and I was able to feel Qi flowing flowing through me when I practised Taiji with Qigong.
Nice site you've there. Cool

Thanks Larry, we are not that far. I still study spirituality. When I was working I studied business ad investing and still listen to music. I study Japanese martial arts which means basically the physical is first then we study the internal. A little different than Chinese martial arts that usually start with the internal and go to the external. Now that is a generalization but I think you understand. Thank you I am enjoying putting it together.
