What I do to stay focused!
When I first started out with building my website, I had a rush of excitement and drive. That initial adrenaline helped me to stay focused as I went through lesson after lesson, and at the same time creating pages after pages of content.
However, as many of you may have come to realise, that the initial drive and motivation will start to drain out after a while of working non-stop on your website. Hence, it eventually came to a point where I developed a habit or "a ritual" before, and while working on my site.
Here is what I do every time to keep focused:
TAKE A NAP - Every time I come home from work, I will feel mentally and physically drained out. It is pointless to try and even work on my website with only half of my brain. Thus, I always take a quick 1 hour nap before working!
HAVING SWEETS - I will always try to have a pack of sweets on the table, right next to my laptop. I personally find that the sugar rush keeps me awake on days where I am more worn out. It also helps me to think better in some ways!
SHORT BREAKS - Working on creating content for my site takes a lot of brain power. Researching on the topic is one thing, organising and presenting that new information is a whole other problem. Thus, I always take like a 5-10min break from writing, and have a nice cold drink or just watch a short funny video!
SET REALISTIC GOALS - I always try to create achievable goals everyday, in terms of working on my website. It is easy to get lost, and work on too many things at once, which will often result in losing focus. Hence, setting minor goals like "writing at least 300 words by today" or "search for a new keyword by the end of today" helps me to stay on track.
SET A TIME LIMIT - Often times, I find myself overworking, and end up not having enough rest at night. In order to get ready for the next working day, I need to have enough sleep. So it is very important to give myself a set number of hours to work on my site, and strictly adhere to that time limit.
This are all of the things that I do on a daily basis, in order to maintain a consistent work ethic. What are the things that you guys practice in order to keep focused? Any special rituals that you people have?
Would love to hear all of your thoughts!

I love what you say about keeping the focus, except the sweets! I have to ration mine otherwise I'd eat the whole lot before I know it...Recently I was having frustration galore with building my site so I left it alone for a while. I'm coming back to it and I will have renewed vigour and interest, after the break.
I'm recently retired so I keep my own hours but now back home after working away for nearly 20 years, so I also needed to re-organise my "me" time!
Hello there!
Thank you for dropping by and sharing your thoughts! Yes, apart from taking short breaks, it is also good to take a longer break and stop working on your website for a while.
Then you can come back with more motivation! All the best to your on-line endeavours!
Cheers =)
Great tips, useful for everyone, very important to always have some momentum and not let things slide.
Good advice for all of us. What helps motivate me when I need a boost is I listen to speakers like Jim Rohn on YouTube. Listening for 15 minutes will give me incredible determination to move forward. I also like what some one once told me. Don't manage your time - manage your energy. For me I get most of my brainstorming and productivity done when I have the most energy. For me its when I first get up. By 6pm my brain is almost worthless. Stay focused and stay in touch. - Wayne
Hello Wayne, thanks for your thoughts. Will definitely consider listening to some inspirational speakers next time.
All the best =)

Thanks for sharing!
I feel the same after work, I think you are right and by taking breaks or little goals you get to stay motivated and not think "omg how much stuff I gotta do".
I guess everyone is different some people might have different work strategies, but as long as you know how to inspire yourself it works.
Thank you and have a great day!
Hey there, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Look at WA as more of a learning opportunity, rather than just a money-making platform. Take the information here one small chunk at a time, and you will be fine!
All the best =)
